Anonymous HIV Testing

Anonymous HIV testing means your identity is unknown. Unlike Confidential HIV Testing, anonymous testing does not associate a person's name with the test or the test results. Instead, you use a pseudonym or a code number to retrieve your results. Depending on the type of test offered, you may receive your results within 30 minutes (OraQuick) or two weeks after the test (OraSure). The sample taken for anonymous testing can be from a finger prick for blood or an oral swab that the patient does on him or herself.

The Health Education and Promotion (HEP) program offers free, anonymous HIV antibody tests on every Tuesday (excluding breaks and summer) from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. for registered UCD students. HEP is located in the Student Health & Wellness Center on La Rue across from the ARC. They use an oral swab, so there are no needles or blood. They offer "rapid" results, which means that results are available within 30 minutes. (Show up starting at 12:45 p.m. to make a same-day appointment. First come, first served.) The LGBT Resource Center also has free, anonymous HIV antibody testing every other Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Must be a registered UC Davis student. An oral swab is used, so there are no needles or blood. They offer "rapid" results, which means that results are available within 30 minutes. The LGBT Resource Center is located on campus at the University House Annex across from Voorhies Hall. (Show up starting at 5:45 p.m. to make a same-evening appointment). Planned Parenthood in Woodland offers confidential HIV testing. There is typically a fee for this testing that is based on a sliding scale. Individuals interested in any Planned Parenthood services may be eligible for [Family Pact] http://www.familypact.org/en/home.aspx. They are located at 520 Cottonwood Street, Suite 10 in Woodland. Local clinics may also offer STI testing.
