Comments prior to change in ownership of Asian Auto Care:

They tricked us in the summer into buying a $60 coupon for several services that also could be refunded after one year if all the services were completed. Now they changed ownership only 3 months later and the new ownership doesn't completely honor the coupon. Has anyone else been tricked by the previous owners? —KyoungYoon

2006-01-28 15:39:58   These guys ripped me off on a repair. I've since discovered a number of honest mechanics in town, so I'm not going back here. —CharanRanganath

2006-03-13 20:53:39   I used to go there for oil changes until I realized that they've been filling my car 1/2 quart extra! I do my own oil changes now. —PeterWong

2006-06-26 08:55:30   Wayne, the guy at the desk is horrible at customer service. Doesn't say anything to you, and grunts responses. Very rude. Makes me not want to go back. —DavisLurker

2007-01-22 10:15:49   The company is now under new ownership and has changed it's name to NorthPoint Automotive. Wayne, among other staff members have been replaced. Totally different atmosphere. Check out the NorthPoint auto page for more info. —SarahHodson

2007-04-22 19:07:21   I heard these guys went out of business. I hope it's totally new people because the old ones were a rip-off. I found a better place in town a long time ago (Center City Auto) and won't go anywhere else now. —Tina

2007-07-20 17:13:44   These guys have changed ownership, and I have had my car serviced at this place many times. The customer service now is friendlier and better, the prices hold their own easily in Davis and the quality of the work is good. I have no complaints at all. If anything, things have improved since the new ownership! —lottumorbust

2007-07-20 17:17:06   Oh and I asked about their name-change! They first decided to go with NorthPoint Automotive, but too many customers didn't like it and kept refering to the old name, so they compromised and it is now called Asian Auto Care, but they do American cars as well. Fine with me! After all, it's not about the name, it is all about the work they do and the service they provide! —lottumorbust

2007-09-10 21:34:53   I took my car there to get fixed, and when I got it back, it had no power/ it was in worse condition after they worked on it. I tried to reason with the staff that my car ran/ operated alot poorer after they fixed it; but I was instead greeted with looks of amazement as if I were the idiot whom does not know how his car should perform. I must also mention that I sensed a terrible attitude from the staff for my complaints of the poor work that was performed on my car, and that every time I wanted to speak to the manager (on more than 3 occasions), he took off in his car to avoid me so that I would have to deal with his service writters/sales men rather than me (what a coward); this was verbally verified by some of his staff members and mechanics. I had to basically have this shop repair my car to the original state that I brought it in as, so that I could finally take it to another more reputable shop (that knows how to work on cars). In all honesty, I would never recomend this auto repair shop to any one because of my personal experience; and also due to the expience of a very close freind of mine's that I will also mention. My freind went in for an oil change that went smoothly, but the problem was that north point/ asian auto/ whatever the hell they call themselves these days advertises that they only use "factory parts"; Bull shit, my friend had a honda, and north point/ asian auto/ whatever the hell they are now called used some kind of cheap/ generic "casite brand" oil filter on his car. This was a terrible experience for my freind, because he paid about $30.00 dollars for an oil change that should have been done with factory parts and 5w-20 oil (as specified by honda), but was instead performed with a cheap aftermarket oil filter and non-honda specified 10w-30 oil (as stated on his receipt). My friend has sinced stayed with his usual honda dealer for his oil changes ever since, because the oil changes there cost about the same as asian auto's and most importantly, they use honda brand oil filters and the correct factory specified oil grade which is 5w-20 for his newer/ 2004 model year- low mileage honda (25k miles). The main point I am trying to make, is that if you own a japanese car, and want factory trained technicians working on your automobile, as well as the use of true factory parts and the correct factory specified oil grade, just stick with a real car dealer that has a service department/ oil change facility; otherwise you will waste your money at asian auto just like you can when you could have went 100 feet next door to asian auto to get a cheap oil change at jiffy lube (which is a lot faster than asian auto's). Don't get ripped off by this place. —buckbuck

2008-03-29 16:04:53   I don't think it's a departed business, but I don't know how to change the heading. There were 4 cars in the service bay Friday. The place has been repainted and perhaps that's why it was closed. —JimStewart
