2008-11-25 13:56:43   In chicoChico, the Beach Hut has Beer Pong Tuesdays, if I recall correctly. It'll be interesting to see how the Beach Hut in Davis assimilates the culture there. —RyanMikulovsky

2008-11-25 13:57:31   The one in Sacramento surely didn't. Crazy Chico. —EdWins

2008-12-17 22:26:27   They opened Monday. I have not tried it yet. —EricaMacGregor

2008-12-23 14:49:43   I had the Beach Bikini (turkey, cranberry sauce, cream cheese, alfalfa sprouts, sunflower seeds), and it was rather delicious! The sunflower seeds and alfalfa sprouts added a nice texture to the sandwich. I felt kind of weird asking for a "Beach Bikini," though.

The beach theme extends to pretty much everything in this place from the ocean-colored floors to the food being served on frisbees. We sat at a booth table shaped like a surfboard - it was a little too narrow, making it hard for me to avoid knocking my legs into those of my friends on the other side. There was also a couple of large flatscreen tvs in the back. —Ami

2009-01-09 03:28:27   I tried it today, ordered the Santa Cruz (large) and it was gigantic. I had a messy time eating it because of everything IN the sandwich, but I must say it was good. I will come back some time to try the other sandwiches, but maybe not for a while because that sandwich isn't going anywhere for days. Haha. —quadshock

2009-01-09 03:29:37   Oh and I also want to say that E street is probably the most interesting in downtown Davis these days. Places like this and Crepe House are paying more attention to design and themes. It makes the whole experience richer. —quadshock

2009-01-21 22:37:15   Since I first tried this place two weeks ago, I've been back five times. The portions are enormous (except for the one time when I told a friend just how huge the sandwiches are—he got a teensy portion!), so the prices are reasonable. Expect to pay at least $6 (usually 7) for a small sandwich, but for that small to be big enough for two people to share. Other important info: sandwich prices don't include any sides, they have Diet Dr. Pepper; after 4pm their domestic draft pints are $2 MTWFSa and $1 Thurs/Sun, and anything with the spicy BBQ sauce is amazing. —SonnyStack

2009-01-31 19:47:36   My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while and we finally tried it last week. He had the Pig Kahuna and I tried the Northshore. The Pig Kahuna was a little bit too spicy for our taste. The guy who took our order said it wasn't that bad but it was spicier than we expected. The Northshore was great though! The sandwiches are huge and definitely filling. We had an overall good experience but will be weary of the spicy sandwiches for the future. Good place to eat though and the atmosphere looks like fun! One of the manager's said they would be start having beer pong soon. —cia0bella10

2009-02-10 00:49:43   This place if freakin' great. The pulled pork sandwich (pig kahuna)is the best I've ever had. Screw Jared, eat right. Eat at Beach Hut Deli. —Fuellenbach

2009-03-01 18:24:49   This is an awesome sandwich place. They serve hot and cold sandwiches, with great selections of cheese, meat and breads. I like their combination of provolone cheese and cream cheese, which perfectly complements any kind of meat. Pastrami is also one of my favorites there. Their veggies and breads were very fresh. Every time I went there I was in a big group. Just watching everyone's order, I wanted to try them all! So far, I tried surfin' birds, beach combers (choice of 2 meats and 2 cheeses), and shark bites. They were all very tasty and generous in portions. The staffs were all friendly and sunny as well. Definitely my first choice for deli in Davis. —kellyM123

2009-03-12 22:57:42   I have been to one in Sac, great to have one in Davis. The food is good, but expensive when you add the sides. I can not afford to eat here but maybe once a week. For the price I like 3rd & U Cafe better. —davisdan

2009-03-15 14:08:28   I'm from the east coast where Italian delis and sandwiches reign supreme. That being said, this is a darn good place. While not crusty Italian bread, the bread here is fresh and light (even the wheat bread). My girlfriend got the "Wind Surfer" which was loaded with meat, just the perfect amount of cheese, tons of lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and peppers. I got the "Beach BBQ" with roast beef on wheat. What I got was a nicely toasted open faced bun tons of their BBQ shredded roast beef, topped with some melted pepperjack, red onions and peppers. It was excellent! I ordered a small which was plenty of food, I couldn't even finish it because I ate about 1/3 of the "Wind Surfer" sandwich too. Well worth the price for the amount and quality of the food, highly recommended! —NickStrand

2009-03-16 22:08:11   DELICIOUS Sandwiches. Cool decor. Oh and when you order avacado on your sandwich, they sure give you a nice portion compared to other sandwich shops.

I wish it were a bit cheaper, but I guess the quality of the food is why its so pricey. Oh, and FYI, their Philly Cheese steak has cream cheese on it as well, which can be an acquired taste.

PASTRAMI HERE IS KING! —BrookeB

2009-03-18 15:10:01   came here last week and was super exited to get the pulled pork sandwich bc of all the reviews. i thought the flavor was nice, but too much meat for my liking. i pulled out more than half of the meat filling and took it home to make 2 more sandwiches. my friend had the woody, which was a lot tastier. the prices are good for the amount you get and the atmosphere is cool —skinnyfatgirl

2009-04-22 23:38:50   Some of the sandwiches are messy, but really hearty! The Woody is my personal favorite. —TylerSe

2009-04-23 12:48:57   The sandwhiches are great and so far the service has been friendly and fast. I wish they would introduce a whole-grain bread as an option. —LokiAbbi

2009-06-30 02:44:40   This is NOT a place that you will come away from hungry. Dear god, the portions.. Expect a lot for your money, and some serious flavor. May be a bit pricy for students on a budget, but given the size of the food involved, a savvy student could stretch a sandwich to last all day. I'm craving the Woody right now, and lamenting the fact they won't open for another eight hours.. —Flynn

2009-06-30 11:06:03   I really like this place here in Davis and the other locations I visited in Sacramento. With the loss of Togos downtown this is a very acceptable alternative. Huge portions and definitely can be stretched out to more than one meal. I just had the Hobie two days ago and I'm still thinking about how yummy it was. —loneshark

2009-07-14 20:31:50   Sandwiches are delicious! Fresh ingredients and awesome flavor. Be sure to try out their lemonades/juice drinks they keep in the fridge (I forgot the brand). —davisgirl10

2009-07-21 21:58:45   An employee suggested I try the Malibu, on account of it being a combination not normally put together. This made me take a closer look at their whole menu, and now I feel like they have too many good-sounding sandwiches and it must be a conspiracy to keep me coming back. It is a tasty conspiracy. —BrettHall

2009-07-24 10:36:30   Their daily specials are definitely worth the price for the taste. Satisfying while not breaking my wallet. —SunjeetBaadkar

2009-10-22 20:04:31   Dude the Pig Kahuna is the bomb!!! Get a medium though, cuz they're freakin huge. Seriously it's lunch and dinner in one. Best sandwich place in Davis. —PublicEnemyNumberOne

2009-11-10 22:01:38   I've been working my way through the menu, but the Malibu still reigns supreme. Pastrami, avocado, swiss, and italian dressing on toasted cheese bread. Truly unbelievable. Best sandwich in town. —EricWecker

2009-11-11 10:47:08   I highly agree with EricWecker. The MALIBU is the ultimate sandwich here, its juicy and meaty on toasted bread. The Santa Cruz isn't too bad either, but its quite an indulge...pastrami, cream cheese, avocado, AND bacon. Love it here, its really cute decor too..and your sandwiches get served on Frisbees :) —MissAmyQ

2009-11-11 10:59:18   Quite tasty, well priced, and open later than Zia's. Often a little too busy so make sure you're not in a rush to get anywhere after your meal. —GJC02
