= 2004 Scandals = During the 2004 Budget Hearing, senators voted on ASUCD's $9.2 million budget. They spent $5,000 on a fire truck. ----- * It is ["SenateScandal" this writer's] belief that during the 2004 Budget Hearings many of the ASUCD Senators smoked out (Marijuana) during a dinner break and continued voting on ASUCD's 9.2 million dollar budget high on an illegal drug (maybe this is why they spent $5,000 on a fire truck). I came to this conclusion after talking to many people involved in ASUCD who were there that night, claim to have seen it happen, claim to know it happened, or are this list. After much investigation, here is the list of those who I believe were involved: * Donald Cohen-Cutler (Greek Man of the Year) * Jessica Engel * Darnell Holloway * Gabe Bang * Dyanna Quizon * Caliph Assagai * James Ackerman * Juan Carlos Sanchez * This story has often been referred to as ASUCD's worst kept secret. Although the rumor of the use of illegal drugs during Budget Hearings is well known, The Aggie has refused to write about it. Someone I know in The Aggie has told me that they have proof and a possibles ource but they still refuse to break the story. Others in ASUCD I have talked to have told me that The Aggie never asked them about it, and that if they had, they would have spoken. This begs the question: what is The Aggie so afraid of? Perhaps their reporter was among those who smoked out? I have read your responses and although some of you find the use of illegal drugs DURING a Senate meeting in which the Senate voted on a 9.2 million dollar budget acceptable, I believe, along with many other people I have talked to, that this is a travesty. Personally, I believe this should be looked into further. Some of the people I have talked to who are still involved in ASUCD have told me that they refuse to lie about what happened if asked, but at the same time will not actively seek to "narc" out their peers. I have made up my mind, and personally I think each Senator should resign and apologize for using illegal drugs while voting on how my money is spent. You can continue erasing this, but I presented it as my opinion, not fact. My intent is to inform the public about my findings without implicating myself. If you think my opinions are incorrect, I beg you to ask around and come to your own conclusion. - ["SenateScandal"] ----- * Don't complain about ["The Aggie"] not covering the story when you're too afraid to even use your real name. No one would have removed this if you'd used a real name and shown some integrity. You're just throwing stones. What are you afraid of? --["PhilipNeustrom"] * Is there any evidence of this? I mean, in my opinion this story is plausable, but without knowing who is making this complaint, I can't be truly sure either way. Also, is there anything that can be done in response at this point, besides smearing? - ["Paul Amnuaypayoat"] * ''At the very least, the statement that it happened can be attributed to Nafeh Malik, former Focus senator, who mentioned the "budget hearing scandal" in his resignation speech. As to the Aggie, they probably were unable to find any proof, as indeed I can't think of what evidence one would have to go on on this, and an aggie story based on hearsay would be terribly unprofessional. Perhaps if the senators would roll over and testify against the wrongdoers among them there'd be something to go on, but the attitude on senate tends to be more of Us (all senators) v Them (the student body).'' * I would be careful here, guys. Perhaps state the ''facts'' rather than throw names. The wiki is not a place for anonymous libel. How do I know these people did anything? The only thing I'd ever heard is Nafeh Malik's resignation comments. If this writeup doesn't get facts I'd say it needs to go. You might want to rephrase this as a personal opinion and not as fact if you don't have any facts to back your claims. Better yet, get a real name and stay you saw something, if you did. ''Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.'' --["PhilipNeustrom"] * ''Funny thing, you could have seen them shooting heroin naked, but as YOU don't have a name its just as compelling as the original statement here. Though you maintain several people use the account your on, perhaps you could tell us which one heard these multiple reports (which would still be hearsay incidently).'' - ["KrisFricke"] * Okay, so with out any sources or evidence (and since you fail to even provide your own name) I cant see know how any of this is relevant. Of course, I would be concerned if I attended a budget hearing and the said individuals were all stoned. I would be upset and I would take it up with those senators individually. This is hardly a ASUCD scandal or issue - its a personal issue. In addition, from what I hear about budget hearings, theyre remarkably tedious, they last as long as the longest Senate meetings (8 or so hours), and they can often lead to a sense of delirium that might bring about symptoms that resemble intoxication. If just one person was intoxicated, it could adjust the mood of the entire hearing and others could reasonably act stoned just out of exhaustion. This is how bad rumors get started and this is how lives get destroyed. A look at the budget hearing process will show you that the way in which the budget is approved is complex and full of checks and balances. It is doubtful that a few silly minded senators could cause any sizable blunder in the budget. [[BR]] Despite all of this, I want to state that I was not a senator during this budget hearing nor will I be a senator during the next budget hearing. So, all of my statements come from my desire to see respect shown from the Senators to the general student body and vice versa. I want our senators to be as sober, alert, and responsible as you do. But I cant help but think that this whole page is just the result of some person with a little extra time on their hands and some shaky information who decided to grab some attention from people surfing the ["Recent Changes"] page. - ["Adam Gerber" Adam] * This is a truly unreasonable scandal to worry about. Even if the allegations are true, I doubt the decision-making process would have been truly affected. If you were to look at the names of those involved in these allegations then there should be NO cause for alarm. Marijuana may in fact be a drug that could cause deviant social behavior, and such behavior is in tandem with the spirit of the discordians who wish to depose the conformists from power. Those involved are more or less examples of how marijuana doesn't cause such deviant behavior. If someone was really interested in playing this out then they should recall the minutes from those meetings to do a cross-senatorial comparisson of how different the behavior was for the alleged and their supposedly un-affected colleagues. I am sure this will benefit us all. Remember that a tree that bears rotten fruit is not worth watering. I recommend the advice of the conformist kings from Chipotle: (whose slogan can be found in Thursday's California Aggie) "Load a Bol" and let it slide. ["RobertBaron"] * I decided to revert and leave what was said. If you feel diffrerntly, please join us in converstation rather than the wanton deletion of content. - ["arlen"] ----- ----- I don't agree with the content of this page. I think it is mudslingy and dangerous. But anyone editing it has to keep in mind a couple things: * NEVER, EVER post some unreasonably long rant without attributing your shit. Even if you go under some stupid fake name. Mixed voice doesn't work if you can't tell when the voice changes. * NEVER, EVER post a new comment at the top of an established page. It's bad form on a message board and it's COHERENCY GENOCIDE on a wiki. * Don't delete other people's shit if you disagree with them, unless there's a consensus. - ["TravisGrathwell"] ----- * Hey guys, is there any way we can do an IP trace of the SenateScandal or DpsForLife account? And then from there see if we can trace it back to an actual name? This guy doesnt want to be named, but honestly, most of the rumors at the top arent even that big of a deal, especially about the relationships that they develop. I mean, it happens in all contexts. But, it would be nice if we know who the rumor starter is, cuz then we can begin to determine credibility. - ["Paul Amnuaypayoat"] ----- * SenateScandal edited from 128.111.96.53, which appears to be a ucsb ip. DpsForLife edited from 169.237.101.170, a ucd ip. - ["JevanGray" Jevan] * Moreover, the last edit by DpsForLife appears to originate from University Village. I don't see how this helps, though. --["MikeIvanov"] * Well, there is a chance we could, by process of elimination, begin to create a list of potential people who live at the Village and at the same time would have an incentive to throw these bombs. Also, this guy from ucsb is likely to be a friend of someone inside of the government, and thus doing the writing for this insider to try and throw everyone off. Perhaps as a suggestion, email an admin for the ucsb campus network, explain our situation, and have that admin do a little more tracking for us? - ["Paul Amnuaypayoat"] * What is going on here? To SenateScandal and DPS4Life: what is your problem? Why do you want to screw up Daviswiki so bad? DPS4Life: I'm guessing you're being sarcastic about those allegations about ASUCD members. Since they're neither opinion which can be attributed to a user nor fact that can be backed up in any way, my editing them out will be a clear improvement to the page. Sorry. I respect all users' opinions. SenateScandal, my lock on editing this page is over, so I'll just deal with your slanderous (libelous?) comments later. --["RishiTrivedi"] If we are going to disuss ASUCD rumors, lets discuss all of them, and please do not erase this. Here they are in no particular order: Former Business and Finance Chair(during budget hearings) Victor Mezvhinsky was a well known drug dealer and user. Former Senator Sean Ruel, is a former drug dealer, has used steroids, beat his former girlfriend, and snorted cocaine on regular occasions Caliph Assagai is known to be a drug dealer Darnell Holloway is a womanizer and frequently seduces women involved in ASUCD Sapana Shende frequently uses cocaine thus the "bubbly" personality Jenni Beeman is a closet racist. Kalen Gallgher is in Swords and Sandals and has claimed that he will use his affiliation with the group to ensure that Student Focus Stays in power. Perhaps by creating rumors during elections. Kalen is also a puppet of Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef. Do you think he came up with the fire truck and plasma screens all by himself. Donald Cohen-Cutler had an intimate relationship with former Aggie Reporter Aimee Theron, hmm media bias maybe. Adam Barr had an intimate relationship with former Aggie reporter Aimee Theron and is also known to be a sexual predator. Paloma Perez is heavily involved in Swords and Sandals, and smoked marijuana during the student funded ASUCD retreat. She also has a clitoral peircing. Former president Sarah Henry frequently used the executive office on the 3rd floor of the MU to have sexual intercourse with several ASUCD members including former senators. She is also a member of Swords and Sandals. Juan Carlos Sanchez, is a closet Chicano Nationalist (and borderline racist) and was alo involved in the "Budget Hearing Scandal". Sanchez is also rumored to be an illegal alien (seriously). Jessica Engel also smoked out during budget hearings and frequently uses cocaine with her sorority sisters. Former Senator Nafeh Malik is a closet muslim extremist and has been known to make anti-semetic comments. These are all rumors which can be substantiated if you ask the right people. If this is what Davis Wiki will be used for, then why not use it to air out all of UC Davis' dirty laundry. If the budget hearing scandal is something that can legally be substantiated the why was it not brought up a year ago when it happened? Furthermore there was an Aggie reporter as well as a Student Affairs employee (ASUCDs advisor) present throughout the entire process, if 8 senators were high on marijuana it would have been noticed by someone. But since this is a place where anyone can express their feelings, Im glad I could express mine. The point being that everyone involved in ASUCD as well as every student at UC Davis has character flaws. Get over it. To Dps4Life and SenateScandal: please delete unsubstantiated allegations. I think if you spent time contributing to the wiki (say, by editing a page on your favorite restaurant) you will learn that it is a beautiful and powerful, yet delicate, creature that must be respected. I don't like the path you're encouraging the wiki to go down, but I don't want to sink to your level of disrespect for the site by deleting your work. What am I to do? Are you purposely trying to sabotage wiki? People who have been involved in the site, until recently, seemed to genuinely care for it and the site has blossomed because of this. Now you two are ruining it for everyone. I'm sure all the regular users are cringing at the site of this sort of bullshit. If you really want to make an impact, call for the resignation of senators and make a page about your campaign. Or write to the aggie. I don't know. Are you angry at wiki for some reason?--["RishiTrivedi"] If they really want to make an impact, they can put their names on these allegations. Until then, this is just pointless. -- ["Jonathon Leathers"] I think that you're just against having the truth come out. Of course, the thing about ["RobRoy"] is completely untrue -- he has already admitted the "bicycle theft" on his rap video, and he was just picking up a bike that had been left for a long time. But I am certain some of the other claims have warrant. --["BrentLaabs"] Okay, you all, you see that there are some April Fool's jokes in the page. But several of the new allegations are true. It's an excercise for you -- separate the fact from the fiction. And then delete this page by tomorrow. Nice to see how well you take a joke, even if it has elements of truth in it. --["BrentLaabs"] |
Since it's almost time for a new set of Budget Hearings, it's time to start listing out the latest ASUCD scandals. As details of this next years budget hearings turn into scandals, you can count on this year's Wiki Staff to cover them objectively.
2005 Senate Scandals
-
Rob Roy is the leader of a ring of bike thieves. He has only been caught by the police once, but it is widely known that he uses the money earned in stealing bikes to pay for alcohol for his parties at the Pirate Ship.
-
Eric Fox has shaped the questions of his Public Opinion Polls office to influence the outcome of the election. This was especially apparent in the survey on GASC, but other polls show an intrinsic bias as well. Note that Fox is a Republican. He also has x-ray vision and enjoys staring at Darnell Holloway's private area.
-
Keith Shively bribed Alex Park of Creative Media to transfer votes away from Jonathon Leathers, so that he would be elected instead. Park is normally a moral person, but he was still angered by the previous lawsuit filed by the Davis College Green Party to force legislation to appear online. For some reason even though Keith was elected in 2004, this scandal happened in 2005.
-
Christine Schacter of the Elections Committee was asked to disqualify Rob Roy by Kalen Gallagher, after a vote at a Sword and Sandals meeting determined that he would be dangerous to the association. Schacter then asked Alex Park to remove Rob Roy from the ballot after the election had already started, but Park refused.
-
Kristen Birdsall makes money in her spare time as a BDSM mistress.
-
Ari Kalfayan wanted to win re-election as the President of SOS. In the grand tradition of Student Focus, he brought in a bunch of Freshmen to vote for him. The vote was tied. Then all of the staff talked about the man they call "Queen Ari". On the second ballot, he lost. He also kicked a puppy. For serious.
-
Thomas Lloyd is sleeping with his intern, GennaCarnes.
-
Kahliah Laney resigned as IAC chair because she was mad about the way the Elections Committee had handled the Rob Roy disqualification.
-
Cindy Yu told people in her dorms to vote for her, as she is an RA. If they didn't vote for her, she would report their parties to Student Judicial Affairs.
-
Interim Senator AdamGerber supplied Aggie opinion editor Daniel Stone with information to attack the association. The two are housemates.
-
Kyle Keeneis fond of the chronic. He also knows a lot about hydroponics.
-
Chad Van Shoelandt actually received the most #1 votes of all time, even more than Rob Roy. However due to the use of the Diebold software his votes were counted as last place votes.
