The 411 on Crusade
Epic is Campus Crusade's Asian oriented ministry.
Campus Crusade for Christ is an on-campus fellowship for Christians at UC Davis. You'll often see them initiating spiritual conversations on the quad. This is not to convert anyone, but to get to know people and discuss what they think about God. Makes some people uncomfortable but aside from that, they are all really nice kids. They dislike impersonal religion, believing instead in having a personal relationship with God. Crusade also puts on lots of fun events to get to know people better and have fun (like BBQ's, a sports day, IM teams, parties, scavenger hunts, retreats, etc...), as well as lots of Bible studies in all the different dorm areas and all over Davis. They always welcome new people. They also have interesting books and stuff that they'll give you for free, if you're curious about scientific or archaeological arguments for Christianity. The organization's name has given rise to a few mockingly named organizations, most notably Campus Crusade for Chaos and Confusion.
Real Life is Crusade's main worship night. It's called Real Life because it's REAL students experiencing a REAL relationship with a REAL God. They also sponsor several ethnic/racial oriented sub-fellowships. The
Epic Movement is Crusade's Asian ministry,
Impact is their African-American ministry, Destino is their Hispanic ministry and
Bridges is geared toward International Students. Lately, because of a perceived dislike of the organization, members have been using the name "Cru" or "Crew" to refer to Campus Crusade for Christ.
The CCC also runs the everydavisstudent.com (
URL) website.
Current Events
2007-04-30 to 2007-05-03 The Campus Crusade for Christ, along with other Christian organizations such as DCF, is currently running another I Found It campaign.
A Generous History
Campus Crusade for Christ was started in 1951 at UCLA by Dr. Bill Bright. While an undergraduate at Fuller University, Bill Bright felt compelled to share his love of Christ with his fellow students. As a faculty member at UCLA he helped organize the student movement that led to the birth of Campus Crusade. By the end of the 1950's Campus Crusade chapters were active in 40 different U.S. College Campuses. In 1979 Crusade distributed a famous feature lengthy film about Jesus' life according to the Gospel of Luke entitled "JESUS". In 1996, Campus Crusade was the largest evangelical organization in the United States. In 2003, founder Bill Bright, died of pulmonary fibrosis.
