Comparative Literature is part of the UC Davis English Department, but distinct from being an English Major. The program focuses on literary works from various countries, ethnic and social groups, continents, and time periods. For example, African literature, European Romanticism, Women's Writing, Literature and Nature, etc. There is also a foreign language component to a Comparative Lit major, so you may take language classes and read works in the original language.
