Comments for Creative Hair:
2005-06-04 19:57:21 With haircuts grossly overpriced at $26, I'd highly recommend avoiding this place. I showed this lady a picture of how I wanted my hair to look, and it didn't look remotely like it in the end. She told me the "texture of my hair" wasn't the same as the model's—which is ridiculous, because I've gotten my hair cut the same way about a gajillion times in the past. —BrianChen
2005-07-07 17:36:42 The only good hair cut I've had in Davis. I always take a picture of myself when I go to get my haircut. This is the only place so far in Sacramento or Davis to get it right. I mean c'mon it's a picture of me. I'm not asking for Brad Pitt's hair or Boy George's or anything. So, yeah a haircut runs 26 bucks here, but it was worth it to me. —NathanMilos
2005-07-08 00:11:29 Heh. Maybe I should consider such a venture. I sually walk into SuperCuts and say "shave it off." Isn't that how it's done? I guess being an Italian means my hair grows to fast for 26$/visit. —MichaelGiardina
2005-12-01 17:17:08 After getting $12-$14 haircuts my entire life, I decided to take a plunge with a $28 haircut from here. I have to say it was a fantastic experience. She really took her time making sure everything was being cut evenly, and would make good suggestions on how to proceed at various times. One thing I liked about my experience was how she didn't robotically cut my hair, but took her time to make sure it was being done completely evenly, and made suggestions on how she'd like to proceed. The cosmetologist was Karen, who also owns the salon, and she was very nice. Even when I didn't have enough cash (they only accept check or cash), she was trusting enough to let me run to the Nugget for their ATM (even when I offered her my license to hold onto). And, after it was all said and done, she even turned down the tip I left her! Even after I insisted. Classy. I agree with Nathan, it's the only good hair cut I can say I've had in Davis. —JesseSingh
2005-12-28 11:03:06 Creative Hair has done wonders for me over the past four years I've had my hair done there. The Creative team consists of such wonderful people and terrific stylists and the products they use I dare say are the best in the state. But keep in mind, the $26 haircut everyone else is talking about on this page is really just for those special occassions and times when we're feeling our vainest. Just ask for a simple trim if that's what you're looking for, and it'd ring up as ten bucks, give or take depending how inflation's going. And even a simple trim still beats what other places in town and around have to offer. I'm pushing for a student discount for all us college peeps, unless they already have one. I'm ashamed to admit that, up to this point, me mother has paid for all my do's, she insists *sigh* so I couldn't tell ya at the moment. —TedParkman
2006-10-12 09:26:34 It's a little expensive, but Karen did an awesome job with my hair. She took her time and wanted me to be happy with it. It's the first haircut I've been totally happy with in a long time. —BriannaHenthorn
2008-05-17 18:23:28 Luz is fabulous. In my experience, she always does a great job and is a really nice person. Highly recommended. —TK
2008-10-03 22:14:07 I've had my hair cut by Thomas for a few years, before he was at Creative Hair, and he always does a great job. He really knows what he's doing, and he has a great personality. —DPD
2008-10-11 11:11:18 I went there one week ago and brought pictures of the haircut I wanted (kind of an artsy haircut) and Thomas hooked me up! Plus, he is such a fun person and a great conversationalist. I did some comparison price shopping (the prices for the downtown Davis hair salons are outrageous) and this place seemed like the best value for money- $25 was the final price before the tip amount. Best-kept secret in Davis! —CalamityJanie
2008-10-30 09:51:24 Jess has been cutting my hair for a few years now and he's great. I've heard Thomas is great too. If you're a guy and you need/want to avoid a barber or a hack job at some chain store, Jess is the man for you. As for "grossly overpriced at $26," I have to laugh out loud. Guys, be prepared to pay this amount, not including a tip, when you want to get your hair cut properly, and be glad you don't live in a city where an equivalent haircut would cost at least $50. I'm happy to shell out 30 bucks for a haircut. If you want to look like a schmo, pay less and go to not-so-super-cuts or some other cheap joint. Creative Hair is for real. —Octavian
2008-12-27 16:21:08 I'm Chinese came here for my first Davis haircut, and had a great experience with Luz. She really paid attention to me and my hair throughout, and is a really sweet person. Also, I never blowdry my hair and usually hate how it looks after salons do it, waiting until washing it the next day before really seeing what the cut looks like. Luz blow-dried my hair and made it look fantastic. I would even consider having her do my hair again if I had some special reason to want fancy hair. —lingawonga
2009-01-18 22:01:20 I don't agree with the description that they are pricier than most local places. They're higher than Supercuts and places like that, but comparable to other local places, and less than the downtown salons that I checked. —DPD
2009-02-21 18:58:09 Thomas is the best! I have been afraid to have anyone color my hair since leaving Sacramento two years ago...but I fear no longer. He really understood what I wanted and he pulled it off perfectly. Truly, the best colorist I've ever had. My hair has never looked so good, and even my thrify husband agreed he is worth every single penny. In addition, my kids said I "looked pretty" when I got home. Thank you Thomas! —JAD
2009-04-25 16:12:32 I had my hair cut by Thomas at Creative Hair this morning. He is the greatest! I brought in pictures of a cut I liked, and while the model had a different type of hair than I do, he instantly knew how to make it work for my hair. He was so sweet and personable during the cut, giving me little tips and tricks throughout, and the cut itself came out great. On top of all that, I hadn't brought cash (oops), but he let me leave the store to get cash from the nearest ATM after my cut. When he didn't have change for my $40, he took my $20 and the $4 I was going to give him as a tip and told me to have a great weekend. I will definitely be returning! —ChristinaNoble
2009-05-06 14:00:35 Thomas is the best! Thats all i have got to say! He know exactly what he is doing! —Monix1987
2009-05-15 12:24:27 Great haircut everytime, been going here most of my life 20+ yrs(yes its been around that long) and never a disappointment. I've never had a problem with the price, which is a value compared to the salons downtown and Creative offers a higher quality style. An EXTREMELY sanitary and clean salon. If you want your hair done right make an appointment with KC (Karen Philleo).

2009-05-28 14:08:28 I just had my hair cut by Thomas. Not only is my haircut super cute, but Thomas was so nice, and so fun! He had me laughing so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes. I had the best time. I highly, highly recommend going to this salon and having Thomas cut your hair. I WILL be back, I wouldn't want to miss out! —RQ
2009-10-14 11:17:12 Luz is absolutely wonderful! I haven't had a good haircut and color in years, and was nervous to try a new place. Three months ago, my hair was an absolute mess and she did a wonderful job cutting, coloring and highlighting it. Six weeks later my roots had grown out, and she performed her magic again! I'm about to call to make another appointment. Luz is wonderfully sweet as well, I recommend her to all my friends. The icing on the cake is the price... I have very long, thick hair, and have never had a cut, color and highlight for under $150, until now! Thanks Luz! =) —jessicacc
2009-10-15 23:19:55 A few days ago I got a haircut from Karen. I told Karen what I didn't like about the haircuts I had been getting elsewhere and she fixed everything. The price was very good for the haircut I got. I'll definitely be coming back! —twblalock
2010-01-08 15:16:47 I had a great experience at Creative Hair when I needed a haircut badly back in August. Luz was my stylist, and she was super friendly and gave me just a trim, which was exactly what I wanted. She dried my hair and styled it with a straight iron and didn't charge me any extra. I got the same quality haircut and style for about $25 (before tip) that I would have gotten from my regular salon back at home for $45. I highly recommend Creative Hair! —emmaleanne
2010-01-29 16:17:46 Thomas is no longer with Creative Hair. He expects to be in a new place next week. You can call him on his cell to make an appointment - 530-302-7369 —DPD
2010-01-30 11:29:54 I just heard that Thomas has left Creaative Hair. I am going to miss seeing the other stylist and clients at my regular bi monthly appointment. The shop was always very clean but really needs updating. However,I will not miss hearing the owener's voice that could constantly be heard overy everyone else. By the way,Ms. Philleo, LA is not the only place with unique dress shops. You should try Mid-Town Sacramento. Many great and interesting stores. (Thomas, I will see you at your new place.) —jeanhenderson
2010-05-22 10:41:39 With an upcoming pay cut, I've been looking for ways to cut my expenses without skimping on quality. I normally go to one of those chic salons downtown, but decided to make an appointment with Luz. She did an excellent job highlighting and cutting my hair, and I ended up paying less than half of what I usually paid downtown. I will definitely trust my hair to Luz again. —bellder
2010-10-26 09:45:36 Luz is amazing. I've had a lifetime of bad haircuts, people not listening or getting it right...I was lucky to get Luz the first time I scheduled an appointment. This women loves what she does and it shows in the time she takes in her work. She is a perfectionist. Took my out-of-town daughter to Luz once, now whenever she knows she will be in town she asks me to make an appointment with Luz. —MarionBarnett
2010-11-22 02:19:59 Absolutely great!!!! Having been traumatized from two grueling past experiences, I was hesitant to even cut or color my hair. LUZ most definitely rid me of my fears. I had grown unhealthy hair for about two years and didn't want to completely lose the long length of it. Luz ended up cutting two inches of my hair and highlighted the bottom portion of my hair for a grand total of 90 bucks (25 for the cut and 65 for the highlights) I bought some products here to keep my hair healthy and recommend to buy products elsewhere (a little overpriced). Also, Luz speaks Spanish, so anyone looking for a spanish speaking hair stylist that gives phenomenal haircuts and color...Luz is what your looking for! Luz si habla espanol y da cortes de pelo y color de pelo MUY BIEN! =) —SoInfamous0723
