The Blue Devils and the overall field hockey program at Davis Senior High School have built a tradition of excellence over the years with over 10 league titles to their name. The program strives to provide a positive team environment, with a focus on teamwork, dedication, respect, sportsmanship, fun and pride. Field hockey is a fall sport, however there are several opportunities to play and learn throughout the season, including spring clinics, a summer camp for 6th through 10th graders, and "July Night" clinics. The head coach of the program is Varsity coach Katy Loge. Meryl Craig (20 years old in 2009) is the JV coach.
2009 Junior Varsity Fight
During the October 19th, 2009 away game in Chico, the father of a player repeatedly punched Steven Craig, the father of junior varsity coach Meryl Craig. The fight was apparently due to a dispute over the shorter amount of time his child was fielded during the game due to having missed practice, although there are conflicting stories about how the violence escalated into a physical altercation. Steven Craig was hospitalized overnight due to his injuries.
