The Davis Art Center is a nonprofit (501c3) community art center offering over 300 classes each quarter in clay, weaving, photography, multimedia, yoga, tap, ballet, drama and music for students of all ages. The course catalog is
here, but you can pick up a printed copy at the center. The building has classrooms, dance rooms, and a small stage for theatrical and musical performances. Various theatrical performances are held on the deck on the park-side of the building. The
Tsao Gallery is also located at the Art Center.
The Art Center participates in Davis' monthly ArtAbout with shows in the Tsao Gallery and the building hallways. Publicity & Development Manager Crystal Lee writes a monthly column for The Davis Enterprise that highlights the latest classes, activities and events.
The Art Center is supported by memberships, class enrollments and the Holiday Sale, an annual fundraiser held in December. The Holiday Sale started in 1991 and features 70 artisan vendors, selling unique, handmade and affordable wares from local and regional artists.
Members get a $10 discount on all classes. Rates are $30 for an individual and $50 for a family annual membership. College students and seniors (60+) can get a membership for $20.
The Art Center was incorporated in 1960 with the following mission: to promote the appreciation and execution of the visual, literary and performing arts through classes, exhibits, performances and special events. It is governed by a 12-member board of directors.

2008-08-17 06:07:21 My daughter took a few classes here this summer. They were amazingly good classes with fantastically friendly and instructive teachers. She had a great time and I suspect the DAC is one of the better kept secrets in Davis that shouldn't be kept a secret. —WesHardaker
2011-02-25 03:23:32 The classes my daughter has taken have been great. BUT please remember to lock your cars and keep all valuables and bags with you. Thieves are lurking! —kimcatacutan
2012-01-12 16:58:21 Just got treated very poorly by DAC and Mindy Manville. Signed my daughter up for a musical on 7 Dec 11. When she went to the class on 12 Jan 12 they informed her they had decided to not let her participate. Wasted my time dragging two kids there and broke my daughters heart. And not a single apology from Mindy or the front desk who has not refunded my payment! —SharonHughes
