Mostly UC Davis students, this surf club is considerably active considering that the best, and the only, surfing is over an hour away. Check out their great website for ride share info, conditions and such.

The Davis Surf Club isn't too active on campus, though occasionally you will see them tabling in the quad, flyering, or hear about a party. Last sping they threw a party that they cohosted with SOS and it was the biggest, baddest party of Spring '04.

Otherwise, get your butt outside and do some land based outdoor activities.

On that note- I would like to invite UC Davis students to take my surf travel survey. My name is Tony Marca, a graduate student in the Department of Geography at UCSB. Along with other researchers at UCSB, I am doing a study of surf travel, the first of its kind!, for my Master's thesis.

I am conducting an online of survey of California surfers that will reveal patterns of their surf travel from the year 2005. The survey does not ask for identifiable information nor does it ask you to reveal secrete spots that you surf at in Baja, etc. I am just interested generally where people went during 2005. And if you didn't take any surf trips- still take the survey! I am also interested in people who didn't take trips.

The online survey can be accessed at https://csiss.ncgia.ucsb.edu/surftravelsurvey/ Check out the link for more information. The survey should take 10 to 15 minutes.

I hope you all are willing to help me out! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Ciao!

04/29/2006 1:57pm I feel like the only surfer in davis (not one of those people who loves Hollister Co.). Where is this surfclub? I am such a minority =( —BryonWright

The Davis Surf Club is about to be revived!!!! I bet there are tons of surfers (and aspiring ones) in this lovely town. I am just a beginning surfer, but am starting to go to Pacifica regularly and I am sooooooooooooooooo hooked! Always looking for fun people to trek out there with...

My name is Dan Mayers and I was one of the founding members/officers of the Davis Surf Club. The club dissolved after 2006 due to the fact everybody that was active graduated. At one point we had over 200 people in the club; however, there were only 6 or 7 of us that actually surfed on a regular basis (1 or more times/week). I am currently back in Davis and I will be working for the University over the next year. I am willing to drive on weekly surf trips. I have been surfing for nearly 10 years and I go to various spots, with various vibes and difficulty. I prefer fast, hollow, performance waves that are often crowded, so these are the spots I frequent. Drop me a line at drmayers@ucdavis.edu if you want to tag along.
