This page is for discussing the contents of Davis Taxi Service.
This page should be deleted. Apparently it was created by a Sacramento taxi operator. He named the page "taxi." This taxi does not do Davis local taxi business. Looking further Kmm doesn't have a Davis business license listed online. —BruceHansen
I can't wait for Wes and his taxi info project to catch up with these guys Daubert
I think the question is whether people in Davis get rides from them. If so, a page belongs here. If not, the page doesn't belong. —tg
The following was deleted from Davis Taxi Service:
2011-10-27 09:24:12 I'm confused. They only pick up if you're going to an airport or Sacramento? Is there somewhere you can go for local rides, or do you just use a different taxi service? What awards has the service won? Also, it looks like that's a "Smart Cab" taxi. Is that a stock photo? Should it be used here? As for the address, 24 Russell Blvd., it looks like that's, what, Toomey Field? —TomGarberson

Bruce, you keep making this argument, but a business license is not a requirement to be on the wiki. For instance, I don't think you can find a business license for World War II or Liggett and Drummond's General Store either. The Davis Wiki documents Davis, and while permits may be relevant to certain businesses, they aren't necessary to exist in fact. Of course, there's a heck of a big question in my mind if this is a real business or a false front for a non-local business trying to look Davis-y. Or at least that's the largest question, with all the ones that Tom raises being related. ⁓ʝ⍵
2011-10-27 19:56:29 I could do an online search for Davis taxi and then make a page here, but why bother if the business doesn't at least have a business license, which this one doesn't show online. —Art
A business license is you know, required to be in business? let alone be a business on the wiki... ? Daubert
So you're saying that a business without a business license doesn't exist? The Enterprise wouldn't do an article on them? People couldn't see them? They exist — they are just operating in violation of local and/or state statutes. The wiki is not a business listings site, it documents Davis... the legal, illegal, historical and trivial. Plenty of illegal things (or statute violating things) occur in Davis. Remember the BEAR license thing? Turned out that a bunch of computer repair businesses weren't property licensed by the state (I'm betting at least some are still not licensed). They still existed in Davis, and they are still documented on the wiki, license or not. A business legal status doesn't affect somebody else writing about the business and what they do in Davis, as it is not an entry owned or somehow sponsored by them... it's just about them. Of course, that assumes they are doing business in Davis. With this particular case, I'm not really sure that's true. I think this is a pseudo-localized front for
Sacramento Cab, but I could be wrong. ⁓ʝ⍵
I agree with JW, on both counts. —CovertProfessor
With the new photo it looks to have the logo style of the Airport taxis... Daubert
I made the comment at the top while under the initial mistaken impresson that a wiki editor had done an online search for "Davis taxi" and this Sacramento company showed up and so a page was created. What actually seemed to have happened was Sukhwinder, who had made a listing for Kmm boldly and non alphabetically at the top of the list at
http://www.sacwiki.org/Taxi_Services then made taxi for Kmm on the Davis Wiki, which an editor renamed to this page, and the rest is history. —Art
