Time banking is a tool by which a community of people can network by giving and receiving services and goods. By doing an hour of work for someone else, you receive a "time dollar" that you can cash in when you want someone else (or the same person) to help you in return. Everyone's time is of equal value, and all service is valued. We've been taught to be independent and to use money to get what we need, but we're here to change this.
Everyone has something to offer! We're here to strengthen the feeling of community and trust.
Together we can connect unmet needs with untapped resources! And when peoples' most basic needs are met, there's no telling what we could then devote our attention to...
What can YOU give?
Sewing, tutoring, transportation, companionship, arts, crafts, music, gardening, car or bike repair, home care, computer support, financial guidance, cooking, hair and beauty, housekeeping, pet care, bingo nights, photography, meditation/yoga guidance, carpentry, dance lessons, games, events, language help, mentoring, jewelry making, translation, massage therapy, meals on wheels, story-telling, respite, babysitting – THE LIST GOES ON!
Getting Started
1. Become a member and create your personal profile!
2. Meet with a Coordinator to activate your membership.
3. List services you would like to give and receive.
4. Search for services needed and offered by other members. Click on the “Give & Receive” tab at the top of the website.
5. Give, receive, and repeat!
6. Watch the Events box for upcoming ways to meet other members of the community.
7. Feel free to contact your coordinator at any time with questions or concerns
