That’s why this October you are going to find just what you need at our fall plant sales. We are going to have the area’s largest selection of attractive, drought-tolerant, easy-care, region-appropriate plants including lots of California natives and Arboretum All-Stars.

Plus, for sale for the first time ever in the United States, customers can purchase a newly-developed, low-water use, rapid-establishment groundcover called Kurapia (Lippia nodiflora ‘Campagne Verde’). Developed in Japan and tested at UC Davis and UC Riverside, the potential use for this groundcover as a lawn replacement is huge!

MORE INFO (Videos, inventory, etc.): http://arboretum.ucdavis.edu/plant_sales_and_nursery.aspx
DOWNLOAD THE FLYER: http://arboretum.ucdavis.edu/documents/F14_flyer.pdf
(Posted by KatieHetrick) 28243Our Oath in Action: Animal Adopt-athonhttp://daviswiki.org/Events_Board2014-10-25The Davis Wiki RobotDate: Saturday, October 25
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Russell Field, UC Davis

October 25th is National Make a Difference Day. When almost 10 million animals in the U.S. are brought to shelters every year and more than half are euthanized simply because of lack of space, with many rescue organizations not being able to keep up with the demand, we at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine hope to make a difference in our community through education, science, and compassion.

We have a grant from the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) to put on a public event called "Our Oath in Action". Only 6 projects were selected nationwide, and this was the sole winner from California. We are so honored and excited to represent UC Davis. The project, in summary, is a large multi-species adoption event, featuring the incredible and noble efforts of animal shelters and rescue organizations in giving animals a second chance at life.

This engaging event will include free veterinary exams and consults, adoptions, vaccinations and microchipping, many family activities, and several canine demonstrations throughout the day. We hope you can join us for the fun! Please bring any new or gently used pet supplies for donation.

Our goals are to offer alternatives to pet stores and backyard breeders, spread awareness about the importance of reducing pet overpopulation and unhealthy breeding practices, stress responsible pet ownership, find permanent homes for abandoned animals, allow local veterinarians to share their knowledge and expertise with the public, distribute accessible and scientific resources/information, and encourage the collaboration of various animal and veterinary organizations for the benefit of society.
(Posted by TerezaChylkova) 28405Community Planting Event http://daviswiki.org/Events_Board2014-10-25The Davis Wiki RobotDate: Saturday, October 25
Time: 9:30 AM
Location: North Davis Greenbelt

Volunteers are needed for a community planting event!

Join Putah Creek Council to help install native plants along sections of the North Davis greenbelt, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM.
