Far Western is one of the leading cultural resource consulting firms in the western United States. They help their clients, "in complying with environmental and historic preservation laws such as the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the California Environmental Quality act (CEQA, Appendix K)." —quoted from their website.
In addition, Far Western occasionally hosts speakers of interest to the UC Davis community and, more specifically, to the Anthropology Department. It also employs several anthropology students.
