The Fire Department for Davis handles fires (including grass fires) and exploding things around Davis and are first responders for 911 calls. UC Davis has its own Fire Department.

Visit their website (listed above) for two great interactive features: a Protective Clothing Tour and a Fire Engine Tour. In the spring of 2007 they began training a Community Emergency Response Team, as well as a non-emergency Fire Corps.

2008-10-02 17:42:16   I guess their "first responder" status is why I *always* see DFD fire trucks (in pairs) barreling down streets with their sirens blaring. :) I swear I've never seen fire trucks going Code 3 so much until I moved to Davis. —RobertM525
