ASUCD Elections
Winter 2010 Candidate Statement
The past few months have been a nightmare for many students. Students are paying more and getting less. We are running because we’re tired of seeing government officials and administrators balance budgets on the backs of students. We’re independent and we have the experience to make change and create a more enjoyable college experience for Aggies. Greg Webb is a senior studying Economics and Political Science. He is from Santa Maria, and is a first-generation college student. He has extensive experience in ASUCD, having served on the Environmental Policy and Planning Commission as well as the Business and Finance Commission. He currently serves on the Internal Affairs Commission. Jessica Martin is a sophomore studying Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. She plays soccer and club lacrosse. She currently serves on the Outreach Assembly, representing Departments and Campus Centers. We hope to earn your vote, our platform is below and you can read more at:
http://votewebbmartin.info MORE FREE PRINTING PAGES The current allocation is not sufficient for students. EXPAND WIFI AND CELL PHONE RECEPTION We’re going to expand service to underserved areas on campus. SUSTAINABILITY We would like to phase out the usage of plastic bags on campus and host workshops for campus organizations so that they can put on sustainable events. In addition, we will create grants for student groups that show leadership in sustainability. CAMPUS SAFETY The lighting on campus is inadequate and we will ensure a safer, well-lit campus. We will ask the administration to fix the bike paths that currently are beyond repair. Also, we will promote the mental health services on campus to help students during these difficult economic times. ENTERTAINMENT/MEDIA We will work with the Entertainment Council to develop a rental program for its equipment. This will allow student groups to put on more events and will also generate money for ASUCD. We will revive AS Papers so that alternative press has the resources it needs to reach students. STUDENT ADVOCACY UNIT We will create one unified advocacy unit so that students can get involved in campus, local and state decisions. MORE STUDY OPTIONS We will generate student jobs by expanding the tutoring services provided to students. We would also like to see more 24 hour study locations, specifically during finals weeks. REFORM STUDENT GOVERNMENT First, the ASUCD website will be revamped so that it is more informative and interactive. Second, we will place every bill online for students to read before they are passed into law. Third, we intend to reform the Outreach Assembly so that it better serves the student body. Finally, we create the first transparent executive office by having our meetings public. FUND ETHNIC AND LAVENDER GRADUATIONS We believe that graduation should be a beautiful day celebrated with loved ones. We strongly believe that ASUCD should support all graduation ceremonies. CAL AGGIE CAMP TRUST FUND To protect Cal Aggie Camp from budget cuts we want to create a trust fund so that it can be protected from cuts. Questions? Call/Text 805-268-7511

Fall 2008 ASUCD Election
Greg launched a late-campaign for ASUCD Senate, his third attempt at the office. Webb received endorsements from both the Davis College Democrats and the Davis College Republicans. He was also the #1 choice of The California Aggie editorial board. He finished in 7th place with 310 votes - just seven votes shy of a senate seat.
Winter 2008 ASUCD Election
After a year of learning the ways of ASUCD, Greg was ready to jump back into running for office. After declining an invitation to be Joseph Bleckman's VP, Greg decided to run for Senate. Greg Webb was the only independent candidate for ASUCD Senate in the Winter 2008 ASUCD Election and recieved an endorsement by the California Aggie.

2008-11-11 15:30:42 I'm glad that you're taking on the issue of ASUCD Pathfinder, which has been uncommon among indie candidates in the past. Seeing as Pathfinder has struggled in the past 6 years, what is your vision for Pathfinder? Direct outreach, assistance to the CCC, academic assistance for underserved undergrads on campus, or even advocacy? —BrentLaabs

To address most aspects of your question, I would work with Pathfinder to understand any issues they're having and would support them in whichever way Pathfinder needed, increasing funding is on the table. In general, I would not change much about Pathfinder but I do support supplementing the Pathfinder unit with add-on programs. One such program would be something I've brainstormed with the beta name "Hometown Heroes"; this program would focus on utilizing the students hailing from lands beyond neighboring counties of Yolo. - GregWebb
2008-11-11 15:59:51 Also, I'd like to issue an endorsement-like statement in support of Greg Webb. He doesn't take himself too seriously, which will be urgently needed at the Senate table this year. Still, he's put in the time to understand the ASUCD system, which compares favorably to some of his opposition. So vote for him (and Jack Zwald)! —BrentLaabs
2008-11-15 13:35:48 The fact that your support increased when voter turnout plummeted is a good sign for you. However, aggressive strategies can be dangerous, as voters can perceive you as too malicious — this probably accounts for most of the last place votes. Attack strategies either need (1) an obvious opening, such as "Ackerman resigned!", (2) a wide reaching policy initiative to get enough positivity back, (3) the general perception that the other side "
attacked first", or (4) a slate where some can be the attack dogs, where others can be the nice guy.
2008-11-19 20:45:47 I haven't see a guy lose the ASUCD Senate race this much since
Robert Baron, who also lost three times. —BrentLaabs

2008-12-18 01:38:26 That graph is great, if the trend continues you will recieve a record number of votes if you ran again —ChrisDietrich
2009-02-15 03:55:16 Based on what I heard tonight from Don, Brandon, and Previn, you were kicked from DCD like Max stated. —MattBlair

There is a procedure outlined in the constitution for removal. That procedure never happened despite what they say. - GregWebb
2009-02-15 04:19:58 Just for clarification, the DCD constitution:
http://dcdconstitution.blogspot.com/ I will also say for the record I believe that Greg did in fact actually resign before he would have been automatically disqualified as an active member. As a caveat, I will not deny the distinct possibility that Greg's possible firing was imminent. —brandonhkey
