I had a corner desk, they still sell it, that got moved twice, and broken in many places, yet it still held up for years with tons of weighty electronics on it, and i really had to beat it down to take it apart and trash it for the last time. though i did give the desktop to some davis student for free, so it still lives on somewhere. also if things are put together properly, and bolts tightened (not too tight) things really seem to last, especially if you move a lot, or have animals chewing on everything. AND you can always get crafty and paint something; buy the cheaper color desk/bookshelf/dresser and repaint it. the as-is section is amazing at times and ikeahacker is your friend.
