KDVS is always trying to make local music more accessible to the community, and starting a record label seemed like a good way to do it. The label's establishment was funded by ASUCD Senate, thanks to a bill they passed in spring 2006. As far as KDVS can tell, KDVS-R is the only university-funded, campus radio-run record label in the country.
KDVS Recordings currently has five releases; an LP by Sacramento band Who's Your Favorite Son, God?, a 7" split between Sholi and a Seattle band, The Dead Science; a now sold-out CD comp. of local artists, the debut by Davis party rock stars Boss the Big Bit and the debut LP from local psychedelic freaks San Francisco Water Cooler.
