I was zipping through the sites, looking for dead ones to clear out when I had a few questions that might be worthy of consideration to improve the entry:
Query one: What exactly is the criteria? Some of these are websites for groups or businesses, like
http://www.parodycalfilms.com/. That strikes me as a Davis group that happens to have a website. Why is it listed here when, say,
http://www.mishkascafe.com/ isn't? Some are borderline... I'd say a business that only operates out of the web, like
http://www.heckletees.com/ (or the recent GreenerPaths, which prompted this) might qualify. While 4-H (
http://ca4h.org/) is a neat group, why is their website listed here rather than on their entry? Why
http://www.davisbikerepair.com/ but not
http://kensbikeski.com?

If we put all of the business webpages on their the list would be atrocious, so it might be best to limit it to sites that don't have a concrete offline presence, or whose offline presence exists to facilitate the website. —JosephBleckman

I think that companies that also have websites to compliment the company's services shouldn't be on this page, and should just be included on the wiki page for the company. Personal websites will of course be on someone's personal page, but there is more value in listing them here because they have potential to give a feel for what the city is like, especially the "Davis-Oriented" sites. Some listings will be redundant, as my website is on the blog page, this page, the podcast page, and my personal page. But then it crosses each of those lines - a bit of the blog, a bit of the podcast, a bit of local stuff (such as local claims, and a bit of wiki usery. I'm not sure about websites for local organizations, I'm inclined to suggest that student club websites be listed on their own page, but city-oriented organization websites be listed here..? -KJM
Query Two: Also, what about personal websites like
http://ryanc.org/? I'm loathe to not include them, but, like bicycles, I'd imagine the number of personal websites in Davis outnumber the residents. Good personal sites can be fantastic and huge, bad ones say "coming soon" for eight years. Personally, unless somebody comes up with a way to create a fairly objective pass/fail system, I don't see it as being a problem until there are so many listed it becomes unwieldy. But I figured I'd toss it out for discussion in case somebody has a good idea.

If it hasn't been updated in 6th months, or if it doesn't look like the website has been completed yet, I'd say that it's fair game to take off, for the sake of keeping things managable for readers, and preventing them from having to waste time by going through site after site of outdated material. —JosephBleckman

Perhaps dead websites, or those that have not been updated in a long while or even finished, they could be put in a separate category near the bottom? Dead/Not Yet Alive or something. A comment could be put next to active sites describing the level of activity. -KJM
Query Three: Are there many website hosting service providers in Davis? I know about DCN, any more? That might be good to put on this page.
-
There is OMSoft.
Note Four: Made to Order Software Corporation is not hosted in Davis anymore (unless JohnCompanies.com is there?)
