MUNUCD Traveling Team

The Model United Nations at UCD is an organization whose purpose is to simulate the [WWW]United Nations. Members do this by participation in conferences where the various committees of the real [WWW]United Nations are simulated. This organization is offered at many colleges and high schools around the world. The club offers a good way for members to practice speech and debate, as well as the development of research skills and a broader understanding of international relations. The club has members with political science, international relations, communication, sociology, psychology and even animal biology and computer science. You don't have to major in political science or international relations to join. All you need is an interest in international affairs and you'll learn! We also hold fundraisers to subsidize the cost of attending these conferences, so it'll be easier for more members to go!

Past collegiate conferences attended by MUNUCD include:

Davis Model United Nations Conference

The Davis Model United Nations Conference (also known as DMUNC) is an annual high school level United Nations simulation presented by MUNUCD each Spring in a weekend in the middle of May. High school delegates from all over California come to represent different countries in a simulation of world bodies discussing and debating world issues. DMUNC 2008 was conference's sixth year of operation drawing over 500 delegates to UC Davis. The conference offered a variety of simulations, ranging from regular UN committees such as the [WWW]Security Council and the Commission on Human Rights, to more exotic bodies such as a simulation of the [WWW]Association of South East Asian Nations Regional Forum and a historical World War II Cabinet Simulation. Each year, the DMUNC staff also puts on an evening activity on campus that has gained notariety among regular attendees as an intensely fun experience. After a long day of sitting in committee chambers, what better way to relax than to run around the campus after dark, doing silly things, armed with only a map, a flashlight and your own wits?

We are looking for UC Davis students to help us run this conference! Come to our club meetings and learn more! If you are interested in helping out by running a committee as a chair or just interested in staffing, please contact the DMUNC 2011 Secretary General Golzar Ansari at ||<secgen AT davismun DOT org>|| for more information!
