Moshi Moshi is one of the best places in Davis for sushi. Their nigiri and sashimi are some of the freshest available in Davis and are always decently made (rice vinegared well, not packed too hard, not too much rice, dab of wasabi).
They also have some of the best appetizers and special rolls in town. Some dishes, like the Tuna Surfboard and BSC roll, are not commonly found in other sushi restaurants, even outside of Davis. They have a small whiteboard listing their most popular rolls of the month; this is always a good starting point if you want to try new rolls. The Zero Hour ($8.95) is their best-selling roll. Another favorite is the Diana Roll ($12.95), a yellowtail tuna wrapped up with salmon in a sweet and spicy sauce.
They offer a selection of well-made warm foods, such as various chicken katsu, tonkatsu, sesame chicken, and beef bentos and bowls. The bentos typically come with miso soup, salad, california rolls or sashimi, rice, and tempura. They also have oyako-don and katsu-don, although sometimes these particular offerings turn out unimpressively soupy (try Osaka Sushi for better oyako-don or katsu-don). There is a variety of other rice and noodle dishes on the menu.
The waitresses are always friendly, the atmosphere easy and appealing. Pricing is as can be expected from any decent Japanese restaurant, but it is not outrageous by any means. For $12.95, you can get the 5-1, which includes miso soup, salad, five pieces of nigiri sushi (chef's choice), and one maki roll (your choice). They have also been known to run an insane number of ads in the California Aggie offering 10% off the bill, so keep on the look-out.

2005-06-17 03:55:17 Probably the best Japanese restaurant in Davis (although honestly the competition isn't stiff). While Fuji's is a better value, and Nobu Hiro is pretty good, Moshi Moshi is probably the most inventive. Most of the restaurants in Davis don't stray far from the Chicken Teriyaki and California Rolls, but the rolls at Moshi Moshi are pretty original. Favorite Dish: Soft-Shell Crabbed with Sweet Potato Tempura sides —AlvinTsao
2005-07-13 21:15:58 Agree w/Alvin— inventive rolls & great, fresh sushi. Better selection of fish than other sushi places around town, which seem limited to tuna & salmon & california rolls. Reasonable prices. —MoKi
2005-08-06 20:44:51 I just got back from having dinner w/ the parents there...Great tasting food and not extraordinarily expensive. Absolutely best presentation I've seen thus far from any place in Davis and also the asthetics of the restaurant are awesome. Unfortunately my mom is picky so I didn't get to be as inventive as I would have liked but the Combo B plate w/ spicy tuna maki is quite hearty. My dad got the unagidon (sp?) which is just an unagi rice bowl which as wonderfully tasting as it was, a bit pricier? But the staff is nice! I think they're Taiwanese...does anyone know? —KarlaFung
2005-09-05 00:54:38 Their California roll is excellent. Great care is taken on the presentation of to-go boxes. They always offer water when I wait for my takeout sushi. —JudithTruman
2005-09-06 03:49:14 Yeah, the senior staff is from Taiwan (Chinese, I don't think native Taiwanese), however, a great deal of their family (or they themselves) have gone to UC Davis. Very nice owners. I don't think any of the Japanese restaurants in Davis area is actually owned by someone who is Japanese, although I haven't checked out Mirai. Stand by my opinion of Moshi Moshi being the best, avoid Osaka at all costs. —AlvinTsao
2005-09-24 01:39:42 I can't say that it's the best sushi in town, but the mushroom tempura is damn tasty. —DatNguyen
2005-09-24 02:45:06 Not outrageous? Learn how to cook, people! For $12.95 you can buy a whole chicken and plenty of spices to make a first-rate, candle-light dinner (with leftovers, to boot). Don't delude yourself. You're not part of the aristocracy. You spend other people's money, not the hoardings of your estate. When will you learn that you can't afford such extravagances as Trappist Ale, a private masseuse, organic produce, or Sushi? Join the
Slow Food movement before it's too late! P.S. For those of you who aren't familiar with sarcasm and hyperbole, you should know I'm sometimes having a bit of fun when writing little snippets like this. For the record, my favorite beer is Trappist ale and I love sushi. So take that, you google-personality-profiling half-and-halfs! Can't people recognize social-satire anymore? —ZN

Perhaps you should read the link I provided about the slow food movement, rather than take one isolated experience associated with the term and blow it out of proportion. —ZN
The "slow food movement" had a luncheon in Central Park during the Farmer's Market. It was $40, so I didn't participate. For 99 cents I can get a fast food meal. Your point eludes me. —SteveDavison

I'm glad—this shows you have some taste (read my note above). —ZN
2005-11-20 13:28:13 Congrats, Zach! You have now made the two most pompous and ridiculous statement I've ever read. Turns out I can afford Trappist Ale. And it's good. And I love it. So keep your slow-food-self-help crap to yourself. —JeffSpeckles
2006-01-09 16:10:28 i LOVE this restaurant! i can vouch for their veggie rolls (every time we go we have to get an Aggie Roll now), abundance of avocado, and tempura udon. —AnsateJones
2006-01-24 19:30:14 I think someone is confusing Slow Food with something else. —MatthewRolnick
2006-01-25 22:30:20 Passion roll is good. There's one other roll besides the Diana that has salmon. Don't get it. It sucks. Does anyone know when this place's fish comes in? In never tastes completely fresh when I go. Maybe it's because they have a woman sushi chef. Everyone who's watched Oldboy knows that's not cool, literally. —ApolloStumpy
2006-02-07 14:28:48 One of my favorite Japanese restaurants just because of the friendly and cheerful ambience. I rate the sushi rolls at about a B, and the tempera is very good. ALSO, one of the few places that has tempura ice cream (I like the vanilla). The sushi chefs and waitresses and friendly and provide good service. The to-go service is also excellent and quick, and they also deliver for very cheap. —LauraChan
2006-02-14 19:09:43 I recently had the dragon roll and a couple nigiri sushi, all excellent! I absolutely wouldn't recommend Moshi Moshi for anybody who's got plans though, because the service has been atrociously slow each time I've been there for both dinner and lunch. It took about 20 minutes and accosting the waitress to even place an order, then another twenty minutes to be served! They weren't a whole lot faster with the check. Very nice people, but not really cognizant that people may have plans to do something after lunch/dinner! —AlphaDog
2006-02-20 02:37:53 First tried it when it opened. The quality was absolutely horrid then. After a few years, gave it another chance, and found that their sushi is on par with the best in Davis (Mirai). The one thing this place has going for it is that it doesn't have the restrictive 11-2 and 5-9 hours that most Japanese places have. Perfect for when you have the craving for Japanese food at 2pm, when everything else closes. —CurtisLim
2006-03-09 20:45:37 Really bad miso soup ... and even that's hard to mess up. —MindyYang
2006-04-03 15:12:43 I think their Miso is excellent, along with anything else on the menu. It gets my vote for best sushi in Davis, hands down, and I've been to them all. —TiffanySnell
2006-05-13 20:10:31 woo this page has filled out since i started it! I still think they have some of the best Nigiri and rolls in Davis, (haven't tried Mirai, Zen Toro is pretty good). However lately I've been making the short drive to Sac and enjoying Taka's , Samurai Sushi over in Folsom was nice too. —TheodoreSuryapurnama
2006-06-09 15:33:38 this place was pretty good. the quality is better than fuji's but not as good as Zen Toro —JessicaFu
2006-07-29 13:42:47 Went here last night with my fiancee. We both got the combination B, which is one entree, salad, rice, some kind of pickled cucumber, and sushi. First off, let me say that the sushi was excellent. Very fresh, with a lot of flavor. The chicken teriyaki I tried was pretty substandard and was the only disappointment of the meal. My fiancee had the tonkatsu, which was excellent. I will definitely return for more sushi. —AlexPomeranz
2006-09-03 11:39:09 This place had some of the best sushi i have had at Davis. their roles are very inventive, and i enjoyed the experience. i had the combination B with tempura and sashimi which was quite fresh and and my friends and i also shared a few rolls. We had the Rochelle roll which was soft shell crap, shrimp, and avacado with a garlic sauce which was very good. we also got the tuna deluxe role which was spicy tuna and esparagus on the inside and seared tuna on the outsidle, the seared tuna was a bit too black peppery for my taste, and i really like black pepper, but it was decent none the less. the regular spicy tuna roll is better here than any other place in Davis. the service was pretty good. this place is slightly better than Nobu Hiro but more expensive. honestly if i were just getting a combination with sashimi i would go to Nobu because its cheaper and the quality is comparible. But this place has great rolls that you cant find anyplace else. Also just to add i think the sunomono is much better here compared to fuji's and nobu's and the salad dressing is actually quite good which is rare for japanese restaurants. - MattHh
2006-10-10 21:14:08 The tempura was rather strange when I went there. The batter was much sweeter, thicker, and denser than any I'd ever had before. It wasn't bad, but seemed more like something you'd find coating fish or onion rings at a fish 'n' chips place. Their miso was pretty good; not overly salty, as it tends to be at many places. —AnnaJones
2006-12-16 18:30:04 i ate here all the time during the summer. good food. i'm about to pickup a to-go order as i type this comment. —HuiChen
2007-01-25 12:30:45 Good sushi, as we all know, is hard to find. Like finding a needle in a haystack the size o' yo mama. Seriously, it's a daunting task. You go through nasty California rolls. Sick sashimi. Flacid and mushy edamame. It's a mission filled with pit falls, disappointment, and possibly food poisoning.
But when you find something that works, it's like angels freakin' sing.
That's what I've found at Moshi Moshi. Sure there are great places in Sacramento like Mikuni's and Dragonfly, but let's be honest, the sushi selection in Dixon, Woodland, and Davis is just paltry. Moshi Moshi truly quenches one's thirst in a sushiless desert.
They can be pretty packed, and they may ask your for reservations so you may want to call ahead and make them. If you get there a bit early though I wouldn't worry. I've never been turned away, even when I showed up with four co-workers all without reservations.
We were all wet and cold that day, and were happy with the prospect of bowls of well prepared miso soup and shibby individual pots of green tea, all coming in at $1 each. For an astoundingly cheap price, we were all able to cut the could right out of us.
The sushi is varied and innovative, and while time honored staples are present (spider rolls, California rolls, veggie rolls, and so on) a plethora of vivaciously colored and supremely prepared dishes are available. I myself had a spicy tuna roll, known there as the Zero Roll. Big pieces of extremely fresh tuna were rolled with cucumber and topped with paper-thin fillets of avocado. It was all generously served with a potent chili sauce that pointedly delivered blazing spice but not heat; a balance very few restaurants seem to be able to meet.
The sashimi was apparently to die for. My friend Cara seemed to be soley entranced with each bite and had to be roused ouy of a trance so we could gather her opinion. "Wonderful," was her only response before she would delve into the next pink jewel of fish. As an avid sushi fanatic, this approval is golden.
My friend David had ordered the Green Dragon Roll, a decadently sweet unagi based roll. The unagi (eel) had been tempura fried, and while I myself can be picky with it, this was melt in your mouth good. Rich, sweet, and just a little bit salty it almost felt like this roll could qualify as a dessert. The mix of textures from the buttery avocado, delicious give of the rice, and the crunchy soft and slightly oily taste of unagi, decadent sauce and pops of seasame all created a gustatory image that trasnported you to teahouse in Kyoto.
Bento box lunch specials are pleasing as well. For about $7 you score a mixed green salad with a pepper vinegarette, rice, huge helping of your main dish liek teriyaki chicken, and a small 6 piece sushi roll. The potions are filling and leave you pleasantly satiated. Sushi detractors will be happy here as well, as there is enough on the menu to please anyone with an avarice towards raw fish, so feel free to drag them along.
With all sushi freshly prepared, and with such attention to intricate details, you may have a small wait. Nothing horrid, but you may wonder if the chef fell down and broke a hip or something. Luckilly the staff is very approachable so feel free to ask any questions about your order, or if you have yet to order they'll happily guide you through the menu. There's even a board with the most popular menu items, specials, and new menu items to help guide you through your choice.
Overall, Moshi Moshi is, in my opinion, the only place to eat sushi in Davis. They have a new loyal customer as will they with everyone who sits down to a warm bowl of miso. —ProtoGarrett
2007-02-06 12:45:43 Moshi Moshi has good sushi, but just not as good as Zen Toro. —AvilaVoom
2007-02-06 13:32:44 If you want quantity for cost, go to Fuji Chef. If you want quality, go to Moshi Moshi. Probably the best Japanese food and sushi in Davis. I believe there used to be a Japanese sushi chef, and his presentation was a bit better then the present, but overall it's quality is better then the others. Do not go to Jusco. Food took forever, and it was pretty awful. —SueJones
2007-04-13 13:30:03 When I went to Moshi Moshi with a friend and my boyfriend, the place was still fairly new. The waitress was rather clueless and ended up mixing up our orders—but we stuck it out. After all, how different can teriyaki be? The teriyaki was very, very sour, as if they accidentally put the rice vinegar in the sauce instead of their sushi rice. My boyfriend and I ended up with horrible stomach pains for the rest of the night—and my boyfriend has a strong stomach. We're putting off Moshi Moshi for now, as we're a little scared to go back. Hopefully they've improved and are actually using teriyaki instead of balsamic vinegar for their dishes. —AbbYu

"When it was fairly new" was 4 or 5 years ago. My understanding is that they've improved significantly since then. —JessicaLuedtke
2007-05-02 12:53:15 One of the best japanese restaurants i've been to in Davis. their Diana Roll is great and they have a very friendly, outgoing staff. Most of their rolls are inventive and creative. Definitely reccomend this place to any sushi lover =) —trambajuice
2007-06-06 16:55:10 I love this place. My only complaint is that the service can be a bit slow, but the atmosphere is so mellow that it doesn't matter that much. And the food kicks ass. —GabeDavis
2007-06-13 21:15:05 Tried this place for the first time tonight. The food was good, but it came slowly (although the waitress did warn us that the sushi bar was backed up). We had the Diana Roll (which was great) and the Sakura Roll, which was tasty but very, very spicy hot. The Sakura Roll was supposed to be spicy, but it was painfully HOT. I'm not even wimpy about spice. I'd not recommend that roll unless you are really into having things HOT. —LeslieCooper
2007-06-22 20:36:36 I enjoy eating here. The servers are very nice. I probably get the Mango Roll too often. I've never had a bad roll. Never tried much of anything else. (Well, I tried a sake bomb without considering the laws of displacement discovered by Archimedes so long ago, but that was my fault.) —MisterProfessor
2007-07-11 17:14:56 I came here with a couple of my friends and the sushi rolls here were pretty good. (i had the zero hour roll i think) 2 of my friends dont like sushi but they did enjoy their dishes (i think teriyaki chicken and udon or something like that) —JoeLow
2007-07-22 18:25:01 This restarant was not bad, however it is expensive. Fairly good selection. —AlexandraDeGrange
2007-08-10 10:46:24 I have a new favorite sushi place and it's Moshi Moshi. After trying their Edamame, Miso, O.J. Dragon Roll and Negihamma Maki, I'm convinced they have the best fish (and Japanese food) in Davis. They are a little on the pricey side, but the portions are generous; keep an eye peeled for my ebay auctions which will be needed to fund my (newly acquired) Moshi Moshi habit. —VladLoscutoff
2007-08-30 01:03:55 I always sit at the bar, I always ask the chef what's fresh, and I always enjoy my sushi. Case closed. —PaulHarms
2007-11-08 22:30:34 so i went there today..and we got there around 730...an hour later..the waitress says sauce got all over all three of our sushi dishes...thats why there was such a long delay...while all the other people who came in after us got their food immediately...? anyways i ordered the passion roll...preety decent...the philly roll..way too much avocado..and cream cheese overpowered the whole taste...then the B.S.C rolll...yuck..how can you mess up a simple california roll with baked scallops on top? well i guess some people like it..cause i gave it to my friend and he finished the whole thing...lol but yea this place is ok...miso soup is a dollar so i guess if your really hungry for some cheap soup eat here..otherwise id recommend zen toro for sushi..this place is eh... —MAIRA
2007-11-10 13:53:48 I came here with friends for a late dinner. All I have to say is that the waitresses (Sunday evenings) are gorgeous. The chefs seem lively and friendly. This place is probably on the same level or just below Zen Toro, so prices are kind of high. A friend of mine paid 9 dollars for a Volcano Roll, and he got 4 pieces. My other two friends ordered donburi and commented that they weren't full. But that's expected from a quality Japanese restaurant as opposed to like Jusco or Fuji Chef. Come for the waitresses, stay for the waitresses. —CoreyPham
2007-11-16 01:15:28 i will NEVER ever go to this sushi place again. i went with my friend a week and a day ago. it took over an hour to make a passion roll, philly roll and a baked scallop roll. the waitress told us that there was a mix up in sauces and thats why all our rolls came so late, which i think was bull. the passion roll was decent. the philly roll was disgusting, might as well eat cream cheese. the baked scallop cali roll(BSC roll)..was not good. i didnt like the infinite amount of fish eggs sprinkled on top of it. i didnt even thing the california roll was even close to decent. i highly, HIGHLY recommend zen toro. you would definitely get your money's worth. —jentruong
2007-11-17 23:15:52 I'm gonna have to side with jen on this one... my sister and I visited Moshi Moshi last weekend and it was probably one of the more disappointing visits I have had to a sushi restaurant. After reading all of these glowing reviews about how great this place is, I was initially very excited to take my sister for my first Moshi Moshi experience.
My sister and I got there around 2:00 PM and there were hardly any people at all, so we sat down right away. Our waitress was nice; however, after placing our order (B.S.C. roll, Diana roll, Spicy Tuna roll, and the Volcano roll) we waited about 40 minutes to get our food. There were several takeout orders that came AFTER we sat down that received their food.
The only roll that I found acceptable at all was the Diana roll which was still sub-par at best. My sister complained that the spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all. The volcano roll (4 pieces for $9.00) was anything but what the menu described (flowing with lava sauce, etc.) and was just a combination of various fish that was overcooked, tough, and hard to eat combined with a small amount of sauce that looked nothing like lava at all. Finally, the B.S.C. roll was a complete disaster: small, unattractive scallops, on top of a very—maybe too—"generous" helping of orange roe with a very poorly made California roll.
The bill came out to $40.00, before tip, for a very unsatisfying lunch.
The only thing that my sister and I liked was the ginger selection... that was about it. The aforementioned reasons, however, drive the nail into the coffin of probable future visits. —CalvinCheng
2007-12-19 02:20:17 I used to live about 15 yards from Moshi Moshi, and I went there all the time (to the point where they knew my name). Their sashimi is always very fresh (I usually got tuna and salmon), and the staff is very nice. I think the prices are reasonable, and the food in general is pretty good. And as far as food goes, the only complaint I have is that their tempura batter is too thick. The service sucks sometimes, but I always think it's worth the wait. It's a pretty small place, so expect a wait when around dinnertime. This was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Davis. —JennSuzuki
2007-12-21 20:47:38 Best sushi I've had anywhere — I will really miss this place when I leave Davis. —StellaChiara
2008-01-11 16:31:05 This is my favorite sushi place ever! I had to move out of Davis and have not found a place that can sub in for my cravings! The Mango roll and philly roll are the best! —Jessica4444
2008-01-18 15:46:48 My wife and I eat here all the time. It's the best sushi in town in our opinion! —DavisMan56
2008-04-02 13:46:12 Their chirashi was really good. My experience was pretty good with the food - it just sucks when people are waiting inside the restaurant to get seated. We had the window seat and these white people kept looking at our food and commenting on it to each other. Kinda annoying! —Aarolye
2008-04-09 07:58:26 I really enjoy Moshi Moshi. Good food, friendly service and certainly a bit small. will agree with Aarolye that if you are stuck waiting you are a bit close to the dining room, however, I find that I'm typically bothered when I feel people starring at me while I'm eating regardless of their color. Why is color even relevant? —loneshark
2008-04-30 22:49:00 I tend to go to Nobu the most while in Davis...though I've tried Mikuni's in Sac, my all time favorite is Shogun Sushi in Elk Grove. Happy Roll #24! —michimi
2008-05-07 19:28:11 Great flavor combinations! My favorite roll is the Smokin' Kristin. It is delicious and I can share it with my friends who refuse to eat anything that isn't fully cooked. They also make an oshinko roll just the way I like it. (I am weirdly picky about my oshinko to rice ratio.) I feel lucky to live near Moshi Moshi. —JenniferNeureuther
2008-05-18 20:33:03 so this place, hands down would be my favorite sushi place in davis. not as expensive as Osaka, but just as good, even better. not so great service when they're busy - obviously need more staff. tuna tarts are yummmmy! love sashimi so i always get the chirashi, and i looove the diana roll —Ngooyenc
2008-06-26 19:30:12 I love the food and I love the environment. However, I went tonight and ordered 6 basic rolls to-go. They told me it would take 20 minutes (should it even take this long?) So, I left and when I came back I had to wait for 12 additional minutes without any apology. I was left to sit with no greeting until the waitress who took my order eventually told me it would be a few more minutes. There were about 3 parties of 2 when I first arrived and it was busier when we got back, but that shouldn't really effect my to-go order. Also, I am pretty sure that food went out to people who arrived after me before I got my food (it looked as though it may have been from the kitchen instead of the sushi bar, though). This isn't the biggest deal ever, but it was the last straw for me. Every time I order food to-go from this restaurant it takes a very long time, usually longer than their estimate. I had made up my mind not to go here again... but when I got home and ate my food it was quite fresh and tasty, so I changed my mind. I wish there was another option for good sushi that didn't cost as much as Zen Toro. maybe I'll just stick to dining at the restaurant, I've never had a problem when I've done that. Also - why do they only hire female employees for the front of the restaurant? —BlairGoss
2008-06-27 12:09:25 delicious. i've never had to wait longer than expected for to-go orders, although the rolls sometimes seem not quite as well formed as when you are eating in. the older man makes rolls the best by far. i too have wondered why they only hire girls for serving...and why they have to wear pink shirts. —Davisgrad13
2008-06-27 21:30:58 I tried this place after reading the reviews, but I was disappointed. I loved the katsu-don, but the sushi itself wasn't particularly good. I thought most of it was alright, but then the strangest thing happened when I ordered toro (fatty tuna). I order toro a lot, and it was the first time I've ever seen a sushi chef soak toro in water before serving it. My friends ordered rolls, both of which were pretty average. —st3phi3
2008-07-25 23:41:12 I have now tried ever sushi place in davis, except for the newest buffet down on second, and Moshi Moshi is my favorite! I was so disappointed by the sushi I have had at other places, and had more or less lost hope of finding worthwhile sushi in Davis, until a friend brought me here. I have already been back twice in only 3 days. —Chantal
2008-08-21 16:13:28 Rude staff, not that good for the price. —renee415
2008-08-23 21:29:51 Used to be our favorite place. Then the service steadily got slower and worse. Now, I believe you will receive better table service in a federal prison than at Moshi Moshi. I am fairly serious when I say that. The last time we were there, everybody's dinner came out in the usual amount of time, accept for one person. The waitress did not return for about 25 minutes after that. When she finally showed up we told her that a dinner was still missing and she said they were making it at that moment. Another 30 minutes later she comes back and says they are just about done making it. It was rice, with fish on top of it, literally, nothing else to it. In the mean time, while waiting, the same waitress came to the table 3 times to ask if everything was okay, each time we had to tell her that we were missing a dinner. "Oh yeah!". On one of the visits, she asked if we would like anything else or if we would like to order dessert. To which we replied, no we are missing a dinner. So, the pile of rice with fish on top arrived, everyone else had been done eating for quite a while, and it was closing in on 2 hours since we had sat down. I like the food, but it is not good enough to wait like that, and I'm sorry to say, we will not ever be going back, there are other sushi restaurants in town that do not require a full night's commitment to eat at. —James50
2008-09-30 20:29:30 Creative rolls, but I think the place is a bit expensive. —feichu-huya
2008-10-12 10:24:05 Their rolls are more unique than the regular selection in town, but it's a bit pricey. —feichu-huya
2009-01-25 03:25:30 in my opinon the best sushi restaurant in town. i LOVE their unique Kari and Oh La La roll. TRY IT! the kari roll is fresh assorted sashimi with rice wrapped by some white crunchy sheet. the Oh La La roll is quite simple actaully (CA roll + mango inside topped with salmon sashimi), but the mango definately gives it a refreshing kick! —gato
2009-03-13 23:10:18 I really feel like this place is forgotten about because of its size and location, but it's definitley some of the best sushi I've had in Davis! —ladygodiva
2009-03-30 11:41:05 I love Moshi Moshi. I have been frequenting this place for at least the last four years, and the quality of the food remains immpecable. Yes, sometimes the service is slow, and we always joke that a four person lunch at Moshi Moshi requires about 2 hours of your time, but the food is so good, it's worth the wait. One way to get around the slowness is to call your order in ahead of time. They'll get your order started so that by the time you get in, most of everything is already prepared, and you're eating the moment you sit down. Take out is another good option as well. All the people that work there are very nice, accommodating, and friendly. I love the dressing they use on their salad and often ask for a little side of it to throw over my rice. Delicious! I haven't eaten a roll I didn't like, the teriyaki chicken bento box is completely worth the $6.50, and the sashimi is well, divine. Love it. —j0liefllle
2009-05-07 16:56:28 I've been coming here at least once a week for the past 3+ months. Their lunch is awesome. I'm the type of person who cares more about quantity than quality, as long as quality isn't horrible.. but if you try their lunch, you get both quantity AND quality. Their bento box lunches are good because you get several different flavors in one meal: your choice of meat, salad, sashimi or California rolls, bowl of miso soup, and a nice scoop of rice. Like the above commenter said, the dressing they use on the salad is flavorful and makes me want more. If they sold that separately I would definitely purchase it. Things CAN be slow when they're busy at lunch because they usually have just one person waiting all of the tables, but I've been through worse so it's no biggie. Just call in your order ahead of time, that's all. I will be going back for more until the day I leave Davis! d(^_~)z —mr.review
2009-05-15 00:30:01 Went here tonight for the first time. Prices were quite high, but the atmosphere was great. It wasn't too busy so service was prompt and the wait short. I got the dinner combo b. The quality of food is pretty good and I like how the rolls are prepared fresh. This place is a pretty good place to eat for special occasions or a night out with a sig. other. —BenLee
2009-06-09 14:17:42 No doubt very tasty food, and great quality, but for the second time in two weeks, different days, we waited almost 45 minutes for food. Be wary, you may need more than an hour lunch to eat, we had to take ours to go. The waitress was very friendly, and working extremely hard, and we tipped her to show our appreciation, but the owners must realize they need more than one waitress for a full lunch service. —Alex
