Be wary, you may need more than an hour lunch to eat, we had to take ours to go. Their bento box lunches are good because you get several different flavors in one meal: your choice of meat, salad, sashimi or California rolls, and a nice scoop of rice. Like the above commenter said, the dressing they use on the salad is flavorful and makes me want more. If they sold that separately I would definitely purchase it. Things CAN be slow when they're busy at lunch because they usually have just one person waiting all of the tables, but I've been through worse so it's no biggie. I have been frequenting this place for at least the last four years, and the quality of the food remains immpecable. Yes, sometimes the service is slow, and we always joke that a four person lunch at Moshi Moshi requires about 2 hours of your time, but the food is so good, it's worth the wait. One way to get around the slowness is to call your order in ahead of time. They'll get your order started so that by the time you get in, most of everything is already prepared, and you're eating the moment you sit down. Take out is another good option as well. All the people that work there are very nice, accommodating, and friendly. I love the dressing they use on their salad and often ask for a little side of it to throw over my rice. Delicious! I haven't eaten a roll I didn't like, the teriyaki chicken bento box is completely worth the $6.50, and the sashimi is well, divine. Then the service steadily got slower and worse. Now, I believe you will receive better table service in a federal prison than at Moshi Moshi. I am fairly serious when I say that. The last time we were there, everybody's dinner came out in the usual amount of time, accept for one person. The waitress did not return for about 25 minutes after that. When she finally showed up we told her that a dinner was still missing and she said they were making it at that moment. Another 30 minutes later she comes back and says they are just about done making it. It was rice, with fish on top of it, literally, nothing else to it. In the mean time, while waiting, the same waitress came to the table 3 times to ask if everything was okay, each time we had to tell her that we were missing a dinner. "Oh yeah!". On one of the visits, she asked if we would like anything else or if we would like to order dessert. To which we replied, no we are missing a dinner. So, the pile of rice with fish on top arrived, everyone else had been done eating for quite a while, and it was closing in on 2 hours since we had sat down. I like the food, but it is not good enough to wait like that, and I'm sorry to say, we will not ever be going back, there are other sushi restaurants in town that do not require a full night's commitment to eat at. --["Users/James50"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Moshi Moshihttp://daviswiki.org/Moshi_Moshi2008-08-21 15:13:28renee415Comment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Moshi Moshi<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 161: </td> <td> Line 161: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2008-08-21 16:13:28 nbsp Rude staff, not that good for the price. --["Users/renee415"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Moshi Moshihttp://daviswiki.org/Moshi_Moshi2008-07-25 22:41:12ChantalComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Moshi Moshi<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 159: </td> <td> Line 159: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2008-07-25 23:41:12 nbsp I have now tried ever sushi place in davis, except for the newest buffet down on second, and Moshi Moshi is my favorite! However, I went tonight and ordered 6 basic rolls to-go. They told me it would take 20 minutes (should it even take this long?) So, I left and when I came back I had to wait for 12 additional minutes without any apology. I was left to sit with no greeting until the waitress who took my order eventually told me it would be a few more minutes. There were about 3 parties of 2 when I first arrived and it was busier when we got back, but that shouldn't really effect my to-go order. Also, I am pretty sure that food went out to people who arrived after me before I got my food (it looked as though it may have been from the kitchen instead of the sushi bar, though). This isn't the biggest deal ever, but it was the last straw for me. Every time I order food to-go from this restaurant it takes a very long time, usually longer than their estimate. I had made up my mind not to go here again... but when I got home and ate my food it was quite fresh and tasty, so I changed my mind. I wish there was another option for good sushi that didn't cost as much as Zen Toro. maybe I'll just stick to dining at the restaurant, I've never had a problem when I've done that. And as far as food goes, the only complaint I have is that their tempura batter is too thick. The service sucks sometimes, but I always think it's worth the wait. After reading all of these glowing reviews about how great this place is, I was initially very excited to take my sister for my first Moshi Moshi experience.<br> + <br> + My sister and I got there around 2:00 PM and there were hardly any people at all, so we sat down right away. Our waitress was nice; however, after placing our order (B.S.C. roll, Diana roll, Spicy Tuna roll, and the Volcano roll) we waited about 40 minutes to get our food. There were several takeout orders that came AFTER we sat down that received their food.<br> + <br> + The only roll that I found acceptable at all was the Diana roll which was still sub-par at best. My sister complained that the spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all. The volcano roll (4 pieces for $9.00) was anything but what the menu described (flowing with lava sauce, etc.) and was just a combination of various fish that was overcooked, tough, and hard to eat combined with a small amount of sauce that looked nothing like lava at all. Finally, the B.S.C. roll was a complete disaster: small, unattractive scallops, on top of a very--maybe too--"generous" helping of orange roe with a very poorly made California roll.<br> + <br> + The bill came out to $40.00, before tip, for a very unsatisfying lunch.<br> + <br> + The only thing that my sister and I liked was the ginger selection... that was about it. The aforementioned reasons, however, drive the nail into the coffin of probable future visits. --["Users/CalvinCheng"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Moshi Moshihttp://daviswiki.org/Moshi_Moshi2007-11-16 01:15:28jentruongComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Moshi Moshi<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 121: </td> <td> Line 121: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2007-11-16 01:15:28 nbsp i will NEVER ever go to this sushi place again. i went with my friend a week and a day ago. it took over an hour to make a passion roll, philly roll and a baked scallop roll. the waitress told us that there was a mix up in sauces and thats why all our rolls came so late, which i think was bull. the passion roll was decent. the philly roll was disgusting, might as well eat cream cheese. the baked scallop cali roll(BSC roll)..was not good. i didnt like the infinite amount of fish eggs sprinkled on top of it. i didnt even thing the california roll was even close to decent. i highly, HIGHLY recommend zen toro. you would definitely get your money's worth. --["Users/jentruong"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Moshi Moshihttp://daviswiki.org/Moshi_Moshi2007-11-10 13:53:48CoreyPhamComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Moshi Moshi<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 119: </td> <td> Line 119: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2007-11-10 13:53:48 nbsp I came here with friends for a late dinner. We had the Rochelle roll which was soft shell crap, shrimp, and avacado with a garlic sauce which was very good. we also got the tuna deluxe role which was spicy tuna and esparagus on the inside and seared tuna on the outsidle, the seared tuna was a bit too black peppery for my taste, and i really like black pepper, but it was decent none the less. the regular spicy tuna roll is better here than any other place in Davis. the service was pretty good. this place is slightly better than ["Nobu Hiro"] but more expensive. honestly if i were just getting a combination with sashimi i would go to Nobu because its cheaper and the quality is comparible. But this place has great rolls that you cant find anyplace else. Like finding a needle in a haystack the size o' yo mama. Seriously, it's a daunting task. You go through nasty California rolls. Sick sashimi. Flacid and mushy edamame. It's a mission filled with pit falls, disappointment, and possibly food poisoning.<br> + <br> + But when you find something that works, it's like angels freakin' sing.<br> + <br> + That's what I've found at Moshi Moshi. Sure there are great places in Sacramento like Mikuni's and Dragonfly, but let's be honest, the sushi selection in Dixon, Woodland, and Davis is just paltry. Moshi Moshi truly quenches one's thirst in a sushiless desert.<br> + <br> + They can be pretty packed, and they may ask your for reservations so you may want to call ahead and make them. If you get there a bit early though I wouldn't worry. I've never been turned away, even when I showed up with four co-workers all without reservations.<br> + <br> + We were all wet and cold that day, and were happy with the prospect of bowls of well prepared miso soup and shibby individual pots of green tea, all coming in at $1 each. For an astoundingly cheap price, we were all able to cut the could right out of us.<br> + <br> + The sushi is varied and innovative, and while time honored staples are present (spider rolls, California rolls, veggie rolls, and so on) a plethora of vivaciously colored and supremely prepared dishes are available. I myself had a spicy tuna roll, known there as the Zero Roll. Big pieces of extremely fresh tuna were rolled with cucumber and topped with paper-thin fillets of avocado. It was all generously served with a potent chili sauce that pointedly delivered blazing spice but not heat; a balance very few restaurants seem to be able to meet.<br> + <br> + The sashimi was apparently to die for. My friend Cara seemed to be soley entranced with each bite and had to be roused ouy of a trance so we could gather her opinion. "Wonderful," was her only response before she would delve into the next pink jewel of fish. As an avid sushi fanatic, this approval is golden.<br> + <br> + My friend David had ordered the Green Dragon Roll, a decadently sweet unagi based roll. The unagi (eel) had been tempura fried, and while I myself can be picky with it, this was melt in your mouth good. Rich, sweet, and just a little bit salty it almost felt like this roll could qualify as a dessert. The mix of textures from the buttery avocado, delicious give of the rice, and the crunchy soft and slightly oily taste of unagi, decadent sauce and pops of seasame all created a gustatory image that trasnported you to teahouse in Kyoto.<br> + <br> + Bento box lunch specials are pleasing as well. For about $7 you score a mixed green salad with a pepper vinegarette, rice, huge helping of your main dish liek teriyaki chicken, and a small 6 piece sushi roll. The potions are filling and leave you pleasantly satiated. Sushi detractors will be happy here as well, as there is enough on the menu to please anyone with an avarice towards raw fish, so feel free to drag them along.<br> + <br> + With all sushi freshly prepared, and with such attention to intricate details, you may have a small wait. Nothing horrid, but you may wonder if the chef fell down and broke a hip or something. Luckilly the staff is very approachable so feel free to ask any questions about your order, or if you have yet to order they'll happily guide you through the menu. There's even a board with the most popular menu items, specials, and new menu items to help guide you through your choice.<br> + <br> + Overall, Moshi Moshi is, in my opinion, the only place to eat sushi in Davis. Also just to add i think the sunomono is much better here compared to fuji's and nobu's and the salad dressing is actually quite good which is rare for japanese restaurants. - ["MattHh"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Moshi Moshihttp://daviswiki.org/Moshi_Moshi2006-08-25 09:14:37ZacharyNorwood <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Moshi Moshi<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 38: </td> <td> Line 38: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <span>-</span> 2005-09-24 02:45:06 nbsp Not outrageous?
