Those guys can be ridden without any special license or insurance. Mopeds, and similar vehicles that have normal pedals are also fine and legal. The majority of the scooters people see and refer to around Davis are gas powered in the "50cc class" (such as the ever-common Honda Metropolitan - despite most all of them actually being 49.XX cc). The 50cc class typically top speed around the mid-30's, and only seat one. You have to jump up to the 125cc model or higher for other uses. These all require a motorcycle permit/license as of 2006. (The Honda Met II is excluded, it's weakened on purpose to get around that.)

Open to anyone who would like to join rides that we can organize for the local sportbikers. All riders welcome though, not just sportbikes. All skill levels are welcome. There is no pressure to ride fast, to stunt or ride any way that would make people uncomfortable. This list is just a way to get riders together for one thing, to have fun on our bikes. Whether all you've done is commute to school or have a few trackdays under your belt, there is a place for every rider. So sign up and introduce yourself and let us know what bike you ride. + * We want to emphasize the fact that ALL riders of ANY skill level are welcome and encouraged to join.
