Jeff: I like the new layout when looking at it just in the mystery picture page itself, but it kinda messes up the main page and I don't think works there. — WesHardaker
I was trying to reduce white space on the main page. The old layout wasn't lining up with the explore column very well. I know there's differences on different monitors and it seems to work well on mine (both images are sitting side by side), but not sure what is "normal" for us. What if we reduced the size of the images? JeffTolentino
Is this throwing off the main page on other people's machines? JeffTolentino
This looks good for me in a couple different screen arrangements. —PhilipNeustrom
I wasn't very systematic about it, but reduced the image sizes from 300 to 250. Does that work? Maybe resize from your end if its still not working.
That does work, though there is still a virtical alignment issue, but it's minor. You should just be able to resize your window to test things. The question is, what size screen do you want to support teh front page looking proper on? Someone out there, I'm sure, is still using an 800x600 screen as well (many people I've talked to that don't understand font scaling and icon scaling believe the only way to make things look larger on their screen so they can read them is to reduce the desktop size). I don't have an answer or even that much of a preference on the subject... I'm just pointing out things (as a decent layout is hard to make look right)
2009-02-05 15:29:43 so there are a ton of files on the mystery picture page, shouldn't it be trimmed a bit or sumat? Hmm it looks like tons of links would be broken... But isn't it contrary to the directions on the mystery page that are commented out?—StevenDaubert
Anyone ?

Maybe the old mysterious pictures should be archived by year, like people sometimes do with old comments?
2009-02-07 14:32:13 Why not break up the archive page by year, or by topic? Perhaps an overall index of small thumbnails could be built to aid in locating specific mystery pictures.
A macro or button of some kind would be useful for automagically filing the picture in the correct archive position and generating the thumbnails. —IDoNotExist
true, but according to the mystery instructions there should only be 2 files on that page, the current and the previous, all others should go to mp/history
the problem is a bunch of the files have links and etc etc etc etc —StevenDaubert

Please go ahead and removed the pictures that have been correctly copied to History. Obviously some people weren't following the commented directions. —JasonAller
