Next Featured Page

The idea of the Featured Page is to highlight a good or otherwise interesting article.

Write up a short hook, include an appropriate image, and post it here! Then we can edit it to perfection and post it. The photos should be scaled down to around 320 pixels for the largest dimension. Once there are some good ideas feel free to change the Featured Page!

For 30 days Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters of Lone Twin will take a daily six-hour bike ride through Davis and the surrounding area. In honor of the UC Davis Centennial and in an attempt to document the life and times of the city and the university, the intrepid pair will present a nightly dispatch at 5:30pm detailing the day’s events. A new five-minute installment will be added to the show each evening at the E Street Plaza.

Brian Malow is coming to Davis to deliver a science comedy show at the Varsity on June 1. Enjoyable by both people with a passion for science but little background in the subject and those persons who are knee deep in the study or application of any scientific field, tickets are only $8 at the door ($6 pre-sale). If you haven't heard jokes about neutrinos or high temperature super conductors lately, but you recognize the terms at all you're probably in need of this show.

• This doesn't have any internal links, and I can't think of any internal links to use other than Varsity Theater. It's probably not the best choice for a featured page. It could be mentioned in a Academic Humor page, if you feel like making one. I mean, there's lots of jokes and other nonsense out there on the wiki, nothing to sneeze at. —BrentLaabs
  

Davis Wiki is home not just to informative pages, but to artistic expression as well. The short story no toad sexing in Davis takes us on a journey from Davis' dark and steamy underground all of the way to the its zenith. To be certain, you'll want to know about the tunnels on campus, in case zombies attack. But after all of that excitement, you may want to take a quick trip to the Orgasmatron to relax.

A good "page" would be pointing out winter shelters and asking for volunteers. How many winter shelters are there in town? There is the Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter, a "Davis Community Cold Weather Shelter" (the same one?) is mentioned on Davis Community Meals. Somebody should call the contact info to verify the info is up to date and check that the still need volunteers or donations.

• Davis Judo Team — Well written, loads of pretty pictures, and not obvious if you're not actively looking for them.
  

• Tank House — Interested to figure out what that things is. This page has since had a lot of information added to it. It's a delightful and interesting read, has photos, and I think is a perfect candidate for a featured page —PhilipNeustrom

The Saint Patty's day text and image is basically what we showed last year! Maybe I'm the only one who notices... Anybody have a different photo to use?
