This is a page for discussion of the content of the original page. This page was created because there was a dispute or argument about the content of the page Picnic Day Battle Of The Bands. Hashing out our differences here will allow for a more productive dialogue and won't clutter the original page.
There appear to be some factual discrepancies/opinion differences on this page. Most Aggie Band members would probably take issue with some of the statements under Picnic Day 2004 and Picnic Day 2007, specifically; "The Aggies took fourth place.", "Yet, according to Humboldt - the Aggie Band-Uh was disqualified for multiple infractions leaving Humboldt and Stanford to win.", "This incident, along with the Stanford run in '06 prompted the change in attitude by the Band-Uh! towards the creation of the "Exhibition of the Bands" rather than a true "Battle".
These edits were made by TyEvans and LuckyL. These two accounts may be the same person, as TyEvans' and one of LuckyL's edits were from exactly the same IP address. LuckyL's other edits were made from a location in Humboldt county (as per reverse dns lookup). It would appear this individual is a member/alumni/fan of the Humboldt State band. While they are certainly entitled to their opinions, this is the Davis wiki. And while the wiki should remain balanced with different opinions, precedent appears to be that pages on Davis wiki should reflect the Davis point of view, just like the SacWiki should be written from the Sacramento point of view, and so on for any other city wiki. Take, for example, the difference between the Davis wiki page on Sac State and the corresponding page on 
SacWiki. My point is that the viewpoint of Humboldt State ought to perhaps be on a Humboldt wiki. And while it may be appropriate to note on this page that differences exist in the opinions between the groups, slipping in edits such as "band-duh" comes across as malicious.
At any rate, somebody must have an opinion about how the page ought to read...
I think that, considering the various disputes as to who won, keeping both sides makes the entry confusing and it contradicts itself. I would like to have the page state that the Aggie Band officially won those years, but that there is some controversy from the other bands or something in that vein. Maybe add something to the effect that when its our battle, they are expected to follow our rules and failure for them to do so does not mean that we lost. I don't know. :P —AllisonEriksen
