CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GREAT OBGYN IN AND/OR AROUND DAVIS??? Thanks for the advice! —jomama11

Is it just me, or is the contraception part of the entry really starting to overwhelm the Pregnancy part? I realize that the message drummed daily into a segment of society is that "contraception" and "pregnancy" are equivalent topics... but for older folk who are actually interested in starting a family, there are basically now two entries about avoiding having a kid (contraception and pregnancy), one of which has stuff on the end about "well, if you have to have a kid". Would anybody object to carving off the entire first half of this entry to make this entry... well... actually about pregnancy? I'm not sure if the abortion stuff should go to a distinct entry or contraception, but I'd guess distinct. Most of the rest could go to contraception, or is already there. Also, some of the wording like "Despite what many people will say, you will most likely not ruin your (or the baby's) life by having a baby while young or single, and you are not inherently any less capable of caring for a baby than someone in a more socially acceptable situation. Some things will be more of a challenge, but young or single parents can be found at all levels of education and in all types of jobs." is awfully assumptive about the reader... it sounds like a high school/university student oriented speech, rather than one for the general population of Davis. Believe it or not, there are married fossils in their 30s and 40s who deal with unexpected pregnancies (or who are doing their damnest to get pregnant). —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards

I reverted the page back to its state before the recent editing began. Abortion says: "A full explanation and other alternatives are listed on the Pregnancy page," but that information was removed. —PhilipNeustrom

2009-02-21 16:37:16   I broke out a heading for "keeping the pregnancy" to contrast with aborting the pregnancy. Formerly there was "Abortion" and "Keeping The Baby," which implied that pregnancy is equivalent to a baby. The "Keeping the baby" heading meant to talk about keeping a child (rather than put it up for adoption or surrender it) after deciding to carry the pregnancy, I believe. —PhilipNeustrom
