So far the program has lost 2 full time positions and the Cardboard ["R4 Cardboard Baler"]. - In early spring, the R4 Staff Assistants of the R4 Recycling Program were informed that "summer employment commitments past June 30th" will not be guaranteed until "a final decision is made by Vice Chancellor Nosek" regarding the future structure of the R4 Recycling Program. After hearing this statement, the R4 Staff Assistants coordinated an effort to try to find out the facts about the future of the R4 Recycling Program. A press release regarding the current ["R4 Struggles"] has been sent to several University and other local publications. - - Since then the administration has done an about-face and is planning on expanding R4 to become a "world class program". For the next year, administrators will be looking for a new place for R4 - No longer to be operated under the ["Grounds Division"] while R4 assesses the entire campus for recycling operations, hopefully to do without the involvement of custodial and grounds. The program may need to double in size, but this would be welcome to the staff who have put so many thankless hours into the program.
