2006-05-29 18:09:11   I always get my haircut here. I know about as much about fashion as my mom knows about computers, but most stylists don't seem to understand this, and act confused when I ask them to make the style decisions for me. This guy seems to be ok with me just saying "I want it short"... and judging from other people's reactions (not that I'm particularly good at judging other people's reactions) he does a much better job than anyone else I've tried. I think a standard haircut costs about what supercuts charges, $12 or so... Really, for the sort of guy who would consider supercuts, there is no question... this guy is a better value. —LukeCrawford

2006-06-04 00:47:04   The guy who runs place is really good. I had my haircut botched at Davis barber and he was able to make it look pretty good. There is a 1-2 person wait but its worth it. —JasonRenteria

2006-08-01 15:06:08   For $13, this was the best haircut I've had. The barber was really thorough. I'll be coming back here, for sure. —AndrewDavidson

2006-09-14 00:55:40   I've been going here for over a year. It's cheaper than Super Cuts, but with a much better cut. I've done salons, stylists, barber shops, and chains and this is still my favorite place outside of the stylist I used to go to when I was in high school. Just take a book and chill for 15 minutes or so and one of the guys will have you out of there looking great in quick order. The atmosphere is great too. —AndrewBianchi

2006-10-21 17:16:11   Amazing place. I lived in Napa and it took me about a year to find a good hair stylist. Now I am here and this was the first barber shop I've visited. It's awesome, owner is very friendly. He is the only one who cuts hair. Prices are very good ($13 for a usual haircut). Do not forget about tips —EmilKhalikov

2006-11-04 17:46:04   Went to the guy because he was the only one on DavisWiki without a negative comment. Very thorough haircut, great guy, highly recommended for college students. —DavidPringle

2006-11-21 15:50:03   Service was quick, and the cut was clean, even with a big head of hair. Heads up for other long haired people looking for a trim down (scissor cut), they run around 17 bucks. —KyleLanderhoffis

2006-12-22 14:08:39   the best spot in town no doubt. aggie barber has fell off and this guy can cut hair with the best of em. If i were one of those jay-z types i would fly him around with me, along with my personal chicken wing maker. —CrazyeyeKillah

2007-02-15 23:59:11   I had a really good first experience there. I went in with long hair always kept in a pony tail and the guy told me he didn't do long hair, but since I wanted it cut short, it worked. I didn't really have any idea how I wanted it and told him so and he just went at it. I ended up really liking it! Seems like overall a friendly and experienced guy. —AlexLane

2007-03-07 14:04:30   Good haircut and affordable. Very simple is how I would describe Razor's Edge. I walk in, guy asks how I want my hair cut, I say I want it shorter all around, he cuts it, I pay, and I leave. Took a little less than 15 minutes. Guy was nice enough; didn't talk except to ask what I wanted and if I wanted my hair shorter. No frills service; they don't wash your hair or anything like that. That said, I like this place a lot. It's very quick, simple, and affordable. $13 for a haircut [not including tip] is great, compared to a lot of the salons that charge $30 or more for a men's haircut. I will definitely be going back here. —WilliamChang

2007-03-19 14:51:22   Been getting haircut here for the last 4 years, Highly rec. —JarrettNoble

2007-09-07 15:15:40   Fantastic experience. Very personable and experienced barber. Clean environment, nice shop, and ace location. The owner knows his craft very very well and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. Cheers to him, I'll be a regular now. —Alex

2007-09-27 12:15:23   I have been getting my hair cut at Razor's Edge for 4 years now since I learned by trial and error that this guy really is the best haircut in Davis. I don't normally care too much how my hair looks but I figure I might as well get a great cut if I am botherig to get it cut. I like the consistently good cut I can expect going here. —Roggie

2007-12-30 11:00:57   If you are a guy and want a guy hair cut, Sukh is your man. He is a barber not a sylist. No nonsense, no frills. Always today's copy of the paper and the latest in manly magazines to puruse while you wait, which is never long. On a good day you should plan to wait no more than 15 minutes a head. I trusted Sukh to cut my hair for my wedding and was not dissapointed. Do take note, if you are a salon-boy don't bother walking through the door no emos allowed! Tip well. :p —Rsronce

2008-01-18 13:14:14   Great Barber, friendly atmosphere, and ESPN 24/7. Who could ask for anything more in a barber shop? —Timelessturkey

2008-02-18 21:45:38   I've been going to him off and on (mostly on) for the past two years. I never once left Sukh's barber shop disappointed. He's damn good at what he does and it shows. —thelonepiper555

2008-02-19 19:26:51   I've received consistently good haircuts at Razor's Edge, unlike the franchise places where it's a crap shoot. The barber is quick, thorough and polite. I'll keep going back. —DukeMcAdow

2008-02-26 16:08:36   The guy (nobody seems to know his name) at Razor's Edge is consistent. He cuts hair pretty fast, which is usually not a good thing. However, I've gone many times and he always does a decent job. My only complaint is when he combs your hair with the hand comb. It hurts! Go easy homie, the scalp does have nerve endings. Also, other barber shops shave your neck and sideburn at the end with hot lather for the same price. It's the cherry on the cake, which you don't get at Razor's Edge. —lrenteria

2008-03-04 21:15:40   This is the place to go for a solid haircut. Go somewhere else if you want to look pretty. If he has to take more than 30 minutes to cut your hair he isn't interested. You won't find a better cut for $15 (with tip). The guy who ran this place before him was the same way. I wouldn't go anywhere else. —ScottWeintraub

2008-03-14 21:34:47   My haircut here was so bad that I joined Davis Wiki just to comment on it. I went after reading good things about it here. It was a Tuesday and Sukh had the day off, so his friend was cutting instead. I told the guy I wanted a just a trim on the top. The chair was turned away from the mirror and he was using thinning scissors so I couldn't really tell how much he was cutting. When he turned me around, I saw that he had basically SCALPED ME! Later I noticed that one sideburn was an inch shorter than the other, which I hadn't noticed in the shop because I was such a hurry to get out. I have had my share of bad haircuts because I usually go to Supercuts and I used to get $5 haircuts on army bases, but this one beat them all. Avoid Sukh's friend unless you want a haircut you didn't ask for! —DartSprt

2008-06-07 07:59:26   Like the last individual who commented, I too joined DavisWiki to share the bad haircut experience I had with the "friend." I've been coming here for about 9 months now and get the best haircut everytime. But said "friend" really did a job on me. I told him to take just a little off the top (stressing "little") and I walked away with nothing to even comb! Thankfully Sukh doesn't take all that much time off. —howe7032

2008-11-17 10:35:11   I get great haircuts...when someone is there. I went there a Saturday a little before four oclock and it was closed. Waited around to see if he was on break...nope. Went there a Monday morning at 10:30... no one there again. This was in the same week. Hours should be changed to "at random." If you catch him when he's there, you'll get a great haircut though. —madmaddox

2009-01-07 11:04:40   I am so glad I found this place. Best men's haircut in Davis, bar none. Sukh is really nice and takes his time. You might have to put up with him stopping to watch ESPN is they're talking about the Cowboys or Lakers (his teams), or returning a text message to a friend, but it's worth it because he's a really nice guy and wants to do a good job. You simply can't find a better place to get a men's haircut that this place. Ask for a "Scissor Cut," which is $17, rather than $13, but it's worth it! —condemned2bfree

2009-03-01 00:18:33   I'm heading back to the Sacramento area and looking forward to getting a great hair cut at a reasonable price. —willri

2009-03-31 20:16:19   awesome cuts —zachadelic

2009-05-29 12:35:32   Had a great first cut there a month back, returning soon. I had quite a mop and asked for a scissors cut giving very general instructions on what I wanted. —JamesShearer

2009-08-16 08:45:10   Sukh is an all-around good guy as well. Whenever I've been in the area over the last four years, I've gone to him, and he does well with me and my damn cowlicks. Plus, for kicks, I had gotten a mullet cut just before I came to him for a real one the last time, and apart from a quick oh-man-what-is-that glance, the man didn't even judge. Seriously, though, great guy, really efficient, and has an old-school barber shop awning. Nifty.

2009-10-16 22:28:37   This guy gave me the worst haircut I've had in many years. Uneven, choppy, careless. If that's not reason enough for me never to go back, his behavior was UNBELIEVABLE. While I waited, he cut the hair of two different guys. Strictly clipper jobs, so they went quickly - fifteen minutes total for both. I was under a time constraint so I was paying attention. The next guy, the guy just before me, was a friend of the barber. They got to talking about women they were interested in and the barber would stop cutting the guys hair for long periods of time. At one point they turned and watched the football game on the TV for an entire set of downs. Nearly a half hour had passed since this guy got in the chair. I was about to leave. I figured if he stopped to chat one more time before finishing this guy's cut - also a clippers cut, one length, like the two guys who were in and out in seven minutes - and I would go. He finished him up and I sat down as the customer took out his wallet. The barber put the cape around my neck and, you guessed it, started chatting with his pal about a gig he (the barber) has spinning music at some club in town. Another couple of minutes. All in all I spent about seven minutes in the chair and well over an hour in the shop. I'm new in town and all I can think is there are some awful barbers and stylists in Davis if so many people call what this rude, talent-free, hack does "the best haircut they've ever had." —z
