The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District is in charge of keeping disease vectors ("mosquitoes" mosquito], medfly, glassy-winged sharpshooter, etc.) under control in Sacramento and Yolo Counties. Periodically, they come into prominence with media announcements of vector-based threats such as the West Nile Virus.
