April 16th, 5-8pm @ Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), 521 Russell Blv. Davis

This project plays on the idea of airing out dirty laundry and works to take the shame out of being a victim by giving survivors the chance to make a T-shirt proclaiming that they have survived a sexual assault and also allowing friends and family to dedicate a shirt for a loved one or friend. Come join Kappa Alpha Theta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon for an evening of music, food, drinks and raising awareness about sexual assault on the UC Davis campus.

Silent Survivor Project

Denim Day California

Wednesday, April 23rd

Participate in Denim Day California. Denim Day began because of a court decision to overturn a rape conviction because the victim was wearing jeans. The Court stated in its decision that “It is common knowledge...that jeans cannot even be partly removed without the effective help of the person wearing them...and it is impossible if the victim is struggling with all her might.” The judgment sparked a worldwide outcry from those who understand coercion, threats and violence go along with the act of rape.

Candle Light Vigil: “What is done in the dark shall come to light…”

Wednesday, April 30th, 6:30 p.m., Coffee House, front steps

Sexual assault is the most under-reported crime in the world. It is an act of violence that silences its victims; forcing them into darkness. By “Shining the Light on Sexual Assault”, we are removing the power of the darkness of sexual assault and focusing “light” onto this subject so that people can talk about it and hopefully work together to eliminate it.
