SickSpits - Davis Wiki

SickSpits is a spoken word collective at UCD.

Bringing exuberant energy and cutting-edge creativity to Davis, Sacramento, the bay area, Fresno, Long Beach, Texas, Michigan, New Mexico, etc. - this collective seeks to share their personal stories and revelations in an accessible and positive way in order to create a more accepting, understanding, and profound local and global community.

Established in 2005 by ILL-Literacy, Sickspits is a spoken word collective based in Davis, California on the UC Davis campus.

Current poets include: Alex Gonzalez, Tamara Flaherty, Ruby Ibarra, Ebony Grant, Sasa Afredi, Elyssa White, Shannon Harney, and Jamon Larry.

Former members of SickSpits include Jeyel, Carlo, Azizah, Robin, Tezeta, Nalan, Melanie, Simoetry,and Grafik G. just to name a few.

Sickspits has shared the stage with artists: Amir Sulaiman, Ill-Literacy, Zion-I, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, The Neighborhood Watch, Butterscotch, Leejay Abucayan, Chinaka Hodge, Coconique, Random Abiladeze, Skim, Adriana Cabrera Garcias, Koba Sounds, the UC Berkeley Slam Team, and Quincey Troupe, among others.

Sickspits also host an open mic night the first Tuesday of every month in the Griffin Lounge, part of the Memorial Union.
