Soga's has new owners, new management, a new chef, new menu and new wine list. They offer fine dining with organic salads and Niman Ranch organic beef and many fusion dishes and special dishes. The dessert menu is very tasty and definitely worth a try. The new Manager, Cliff Mohr, will make sure your dining experience is the best.

The executive chef is Roger Duran. His resume includes being the Sous Chef at Lone Eagle Grille at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Casino at Incline Village, Nev., Executive Sous Chef at Lahontan Country Club in Truckee, CA and the Executive Chef at San Francisco Presidio Cafe.

His mentor, then Executive Chef Robert Pounding influenced Roger to expand his experience by exploring other dining houses. He learned temperance and elegant simplicity from his next mentor, Master Chef D'Urso's of Capriccios in Rhode Island. His tutelage influenced Roger's passion for keeping the classics alive, adding just a bit of twist to freshen it up. He believes quality food comes from fresh, seasonal and preferably local markets. He thinks it is important to use sustainable food products whenever possible. This is what allows him to provide some of the most sought after ingredients and meals in fine dining today.

Wednesday through Saturday nights they offer a nightclub with music and dancing starting about 10 PM.

Soga's used to be located at 222 D Street, until the Mustard Seed took the spot. It was named after chef Matt Soga.

2007-07-01 02:29:36   There is no other bar in Davis that more closely resembles a fraternity party. If you're a girl, only go if you like being 'approached' by random guys. The use of personal fans rather than industrial illustrates their lack of care for their customers and only helps circulate the humid, B.O. stained air. I find their Grey Goose rack to be a laugh riot. Since Cantina del Cabo closed, Soga's has gotten quite a bit more shady. —MichaelAWoods
