I don't like being talk down to, abused, hung up on, by people half my age, including Dr Ross, Dr Merchant, Janice Tosh: they just want their money and they're willing to threaten to ban you from Sutter if you try to assert your rights and insist that the CPT code must be adhered to, that the facts be openly discussed and respected. You HAVE TO GET EDUCATED ON YOUR RIGHTS OR THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO THE CLEANERS IF YOU LET THEM. It's pathetic. Google "hospital victims," "hospital overcharges," etc. (it's an epidemic), talk to billing agents and lawyers to defend yourself. Be seriously willing to take them to small claims court. So, here's my story: I ODed on espresso's (stupid, I know, but nobody ever told me it was possible. OK: like over 10 shots) and I can't even talk or walk and I'm too dizzy to see straight. I THINK I'm having a stroke! My mother drives me to the Sutter ER. BUT during the nurse's interview, I puke a couple of times, and guess what! I'm suddenly OK!!!! So, obviously, I'd poisoned myself and I was SUDDENLY fine. BUT the doctor comes in, even though I tell everyone that I just want to go home without a doctor's consultation (I don't want to be charged for anything unnecessary). Dr Ross says that legally, he needs to release me. Suggests that he might declare me psychiatrically incompetent. (NOW I know, because a lawyer told me, that I could have just walked out!) I try to evade and side step interacting with him until they make me sign a form stating that I'm leaving against doctors' advise. Then I get the physician's bill as well as an ER bill, both amounting, together, to almost $1,000!! And they didn't DO ANYTHING but admit me!!! NOTHING but take notes and inform me a tiny bit about ischemia (which WAS actually good information). And that's IT! And Dr Ross was really obnoxious with his "I'm better than you because I'm a doctor and you're not, and if you're not careful, I'll have you committed" attitude, as they all were: Tosh with her "holier than thou and we only want to improve our services here at Sutter" department ~ billing with its, "I'm going to put you on hold while you had better think about it," ~ a rep at billing literally said that! The CPT code says that you have to, have to, do a History, Evaluation and Diagnosis before you can charge for an emergency visit. Ross didn't do anything like that because I didn't cooperate, yet they wanted me to pay almost $500, as if he had really treated me. I read his summary and it was a completely demeaning and unfair account of what happened. He tried to make me out to be almost insane. He didn't get any of my jokes, during the consultation. Totally deadpan, and uncomprehending, was he. He thinks he's a psychiatrist but he obviously doesn't understand American culture. He never even mentioned that I didn't want to see him, in his summary report! He never mentioned that I was suffering from caffeine poisoning and that I'd fully recuperated after regurgitation. Then Dr Merchant calls me as a favor, so to speak, yet absolutely refuses to discuss the CPT code. Absolutely refuses! Tries to sum it all up as "you have to pay because when you enter the ER with an ischemia, there's a cascade effect." "Cascade effect." Mystification, infantalization. And then Tosh and Merchant CLAIM that they "explained" everything to me about the bill. Not! Finally, after Tosh accuses me of harassing Dr Ross simply because I sent him a formal, polite, official letter requesting that he address the CPT code ~ finally, after Merchant threatens to put a restraining order on me, "to protect the children," merely, as I say, because of that objective letter I sent Dr Ross ~ finally, after I defend myself and ASSURE THEM THAT I WILL take it to small claims court: FINALLY they reduce the bill to almost, almost to a reasonable amount. About Sutter: 30 years ago Dr. Daniel D'Amico invaded my room there, while I recuperated from a knee injury, demanded to see my leg, against my will, and then charged me like $500 for it!! He merely glanced at it. What kind of a hospital continues to do this kind of thing? What kind of hospital let's someone like Dr. Daniel D'Amico work there? Nurses have made some very serious malpractice allegations against him. That his practices have resulted in unnecessary deaths and permanent crippling due to unnecessary operations. I had the unpleasant experience where he told me, during an official consultation, and without my asking, about his orgies and drug parties. Nurses confirmed to me that he's conducted such. He actually made, as I say, without my soliciting him, declarations about the women he'd laid from Davis Senior High, where I attended. The guy's very dangerous and yet he's still practicing in Sac. A nurse from Sutter told me that it's a war between patients and staff, at Sutter. I've been exposed to some very demeaning nurses. About Sutter: 40 years ago Dr. But I know that there are some very decent people who work there, too. Judge for yourself. --["Users/skywords"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Sutter Davis Hospitalhttp://daviswiki.org/Sutter_Davis_Hospital2010-01-07 15:50:44oyounggoComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Sutter Davis Hospital<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 55: </td> <td> Line 55: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + ''2010-01-07 14:50:44'' [[nbsp]] hey guys you should file a complaint to http://www.bbb.org/us/ if you wanna sutter to take this seriously .
