Swimming is an excellent full body workout for toning, though some say that it's not the best way to lose weight because it makes you hungry afterward. Davis has several pools where you can get in a good swim workout or just splash around with the kids. Some gyms and training programs partner with the City of Davis or private pools to better serve their members. For example, The Davis Aquatic Masters coordinate workouts at city pools, Davis Athletic Club, and at the UC Davis Schaal Aquatics Center. The Davis Aquadarts age group team also works out at Schaal. The AquaStarz Synchronized Swimming Team workouts at city pools. As of Oct. 1 2009 UC Davis has started a Masters team that is open to anyone interested. The UCD Masters team works out at Schaal Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
