Philip is a town character now. The wiki is well known of. The aggie's mentioned it countless of times, he's quoted in it a reasonable amount, the Hypertext mag did a column about it, his name props up a lot. And a lot of people know the name. I'm sure facebook also helps. Once you see him, you'll always notice him. His hairs pretty distinctive alone, but the most distinctive feature that makes him stand out even more then his pseudo-celebrity status is camera he always has slung around a shoulder hanging off his back. I've seen (more then just a few times) people actually whisper and point him out, especially if he's outside the CoHo bakery in the MU. I do think this local celeb counts as a town character. In addition, I think Rob Roy counts as a character without the Ku Klux Clown thing. His hairs pretty distinctive alone, but the most distinctive feature that makes him stand out even more then his pseudo-celebrity status is camera he always has slung around a shoulder hanging off his back. I've seen (more then just a few times) people actually whisper and point him out, especially if he's outside the CoHo bakery in the MU. I do think this local celeb counts as a town character. In addition, I think Rob Roy counts as a character without the Ku Klux Clown thing. I've heard that there is an epidemic of bullying and racial prejudice at the Davis high schools and junior highs. If there's another incident of vandalism or harassment, the Davis Baby could well show up again. I'd recommend that people here read Agnes Johnson's book Failing our Children - it deals with these issues. Perhaps the cultural groups on our campus could reach out somehow to the high schools. And the baby takes away the stigma of this page to an extent - there's nothing disgraceful about being a sweet little child.
