It's the only place I could even conceivably take my recent New Yorker houseguests with the confidence they'd both be impressed by the food and enjoy a level of ambiance they'd remember fondly. A terrific choice for intimate (date or non-date) meals - the staff is interactive and knowledgeable and friendly, but knows how to stay out of your space and allow you your coziness. The menu is reasonable (seasonal, organic) and seems to offer only what they can do extremely well - there's no fluff, there are no mediocre offerings. The scallops benedict is probably the best dish I've ever had in a restaurant. A little pricier than other restaurants in town, but you get what you pay for, and this is one place I plan to support at every available opportunity. For drinks I had the cashew slushy which was quite tasty (comes from the fruit of the cashew and not the nut). There was a bit of an incident at the beginning where we made a reservation for 6 people, and they only had 5 chairs available for our table when we arrived. Granted, with the smaller portions, you would find it difficult to leave here full without spending at least 35 dollars a person. My friend and I decided to split two appetizers and they were the smalllest, most expensive appetizers we have ever eaten. The Roasted Butternut Squash Float was only a little larger than the size of a half dollar coin; I am not joking. The Clam Chowder Cakes were average but pricey. All in all, I think it is a nice little place to have a glass of wine and maybe some cheese. But the food seems fairly unimpressive. Although, I should have taken his advice and had a sweet white. (He suggested the Prosecco, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I was Prosecco-d out.) OK, I have to comment on my salad because I see it's still on the menu, bacon, brie, and poached pear. Absolutely divine, and they did not skimp on the brie or the bacon.
