The UC Davis Film Festival, not officially affiliated with any of the other film festivals in Davis, is sponsored annually by the Department of Theatre and Dance. (The Festival was started in 2000, when there was no Film Studies department on campus. Since the new department was added, it has cooperated with T&D in the administration of the festival.) Each Spring quarter, submissions are drummed up, critiqued by industry professionals and ranked by audience vote on the second night of the two-day festival, at the UC Davis Main Theatre. It's an easy venue for student filmmakers to get an audience for their work, and critiques from people who actually work in The Biz can be very helpful.
This year's event is the seventh annual, and shows will be June 5th and 6th, 2007, at 8:00 pm. Admission is $5.
