Sergeant Bitler was born 23 February 1985 in Incline Village, NV. He enlisted into the Marine Corps delayed entry program March of 2003, graduated from Davis Senior High School in June and attended recruit training at Marine Corps recruit Depot San Diego that August. Upon completion of recruit training he proceeded to Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton California.
After training successfully at MCT, Sgt Bitler proceeded to Camp Johnson, North Carolina for job training. At the completion of his training Sgt Bitler was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of Personnel Clerk (MOS 0121).
Sgt Bitler’s first assignment was with Headquarters and Service Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton where he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. He served as the battalion’s remain behind legal clerk, supporting the battalion’s deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He handled all Courts-Martial, Non-Judicial Punishments, Command Investigations and legal matters for the battalion reporting directly to the Commanding Officer.
Upon the Battalion’s return from Operation Iraqi Freedom II the 1st FSSG went under reorganization and Sgt Bitler was reassigned to Combat Logistics Battalion-1 where he worked as a Personnel Clerk and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal on 2 December 2005. During this period Sgt Bitler participated in a Marine of The Quarter Board, where he won at the company level for Headquarters Company, the battalion for Combat Logistics Battalion - 1, and at the regiment for Combat Logistics Regiment – 1.
As the battalion prepared to deploy, Sgt Bitler participated in various field operations and on 2 August 2006 was promoted meritoriously to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt Bitler is currently deployed with Combat Logistics Battalion -1 to the Al Anbar Provence of Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7.2.
