2005-02-18 18:31:29   Ive noticed that you feel that Kai is the best Student Focus person. Also, its funny that you put Behzad second to last, mashed in with the rest of his Student Focus comrades. —PaulAmnuaypayoat

2005-02-23 23:50:02   I can't help it. The whole "I hate Behzad" thing was pretty catchy. Plus his opposition to choice voting really made me oppose him. There are a lot of qualified candidates, and it extends down to Kai's level. This was more of a wish list than picking the best candidates; a lot of these have political motivations to me. But the higher up on the list the people are, the easier it will for my man RobRoy to get stuff done. —BrentLaabs

2005-03-21 11:22:58   Yep - although the growing "popular" spelling omits any apostrophies whatsoever. You should see the debates on how to spell and pronounce the names at Necronimicon. Everything from "clue" to "Ka-Chew-Loo". Lovecraft said that mortal tongues couldn't pronounce it, and I like the debate rather than a solid answer. It makes sense that if there's something with no proper spelling, it would be an Elder Ghod who drives men to madness. —JabberWokky

2005-03-21 12:55:15   Basically in the apology I said that, I had just transfered here this past fall, and had wanted to work on anti-bush crap, so the first people I meet are Aggies beat bush. They go on to inform me how SOS had ruined one of their rallies and that SOS was republican affliated. As far as bias, yeah, Howard Zinn basically states that objectivity has ruined real examination of history and politics. —JimSchwab

2005-04-09 10:44:11   you guys crack me up too much to ever really really be mad at you. I like the new GWB page.... Much better than that page with Orwellian spin. Let me know what date you want me to lecture. Also tell me what topic do you want me to hit up. —GeorgejAndrews

2005-08-04 11:21:54   Nice catch on the Arlington Farms page. :) —RussBowlus

2005-08-04 11:46:57   I'll second that... What a rotten thing for someone to do. —SummerSong

2005-08-04 12:00:35   There is a similar tweak at the Tandem Properties page as well, but not as blatant. —RogerClark

2005-08-04 15:13:24   Normally I don't look at pages like that, especially after it drops off of Recent Changes. However, I was trying to prove to a friend that Arlington is known as A-Town and it didn't come up on search. A little investigation later, and now it looks like I'm going to be examining changes much more closely. Of course, it was really bad propaganda because it was way too obvious. —BrentLaabs

2005-08-12 09:31:09   You should write a Transfer Student Guide, that would be hot! —MichelleAccurso

2005-08-19 23:11:00   i believe the tank in the aggie was an abrams, not a panzer. mmm... m1a1 abrams tank —ArlenAbraham

2005-10-16 15:18:43   I've actually seen a pretty damn old guy working on boards before, during the summer sessions. Tore everything down, set up a canvas, and spent 3 days removing every single staple from the board right outside of Young 198. —ES

2005-10-16 16:06:36   I witnessed the tearing down of the wiki flyer at almost exactly 2 pm. —AnnaJones

2005-10-31 15:22:24   There is no harm in keeping old redirects, especially since external sites may refer to them. —PhilipNeustrom

2005-11-04 13:38:27   While onion routing is cool, I doubt that there is traffic analysis being done on the students. The issue is simple monitoring of usage, for which any normal proxy would suffice to hide. —PhilipNeustrom

2005-11-14 16:19:11   Happy Wiki birthday! —JohnDudek

2005-11-16 16:25:00   hey, are you running foir senate this year because I remember that you ran both terms last year —MichaelMolnar

2005-11-16 17:27:54   I liked your issues you talked about last year and yea, I voted highly for the 2 USA people because they had good running plateforms (student issues and corruption) besides the usual ones that do not matter. I might be running for senator next quarter, because I do not like the senate that much either and I think I know a good amount of people who usually vote. —MichaelMolnar

2005-11-21 01:35:33   nooooo, you brokz0red so many linksArlenAbraham

2005-11-28 15:21:20   haha, nice. On a different note, I miss all the fun SOS fliers around campus. —ES

2005-11-28 19:55:41   hey Brent ... actually, the CAUTION thing refers to the very first comment in the "negative stories" section and not the huge paragraph that follows. I guess things got moved around a bit in this contentious page. Although part of someone's comment, I thought the modification slight enough to make for clarity. —KaiTing

2005-11-30 14:39:07   the gvcc page is a damn mess. i think /experiences is the best compromise —DomenicSantangelo

2005-11-30 19:40:50   Thanks! I tend to do that, and just as often tend to forget about them a week later. It'll get nicely done this Saturday. —ES

2005-12-01 00:39:57   Great edits on the Sex page. —MichaelGiardina

2005-12-01 13:24:11   Brent, please stop removing Paul's page— it's in no way constructive. —CraigBrozinsky

2005-12-01 15:40:57   Hey, I think Lame Wiki Pages is actually one of the better ones. There are a lot of pages people see, want to do something about, and figure not to. LWP, just by listing them, draws attention to the lame/dumb/etc pages, and the fact that so many were taken care off (deleted) shows just how well works. Sneaky sneaky sir. —ES

2005-12-01 19:24:10   1000 sincere apologies! I thought you were deleting his page in retaliation for him deleting others, and that he was reverting your changes. I was puzzled b/c despite the fact that you have nothing to do with the Campus Crusade for Chaos and Confusion, I thought you were above such behavior. Ah, I'm glad that got straightened out. I'll go remove his page as that seems to be consistent with his wishes. —CraigBrozinsky

2005-12-01 22:22:31   I'm all for fixing up the Campus page. I agree that I kinda loaded it with excess material. So lets see... It should be organized as a linking page to other pages, but I think there should be some grouping, such as; Colleges, Dorms, etc., but this time less details, and more major links, that way there's less clutter. What do you think? —JohnDudek

2005-12-07 08:53:17   Brent. Stop it with the revert, please. —DomenicSantangelo

2005-12-07 20:47:40   if you want to be a dick about it, i promise i will win. —DomenicSantangelo

2005-12-08 16:18:49   Hey - I noticed you are one of the editors of the 0 - 3 at UCD page. Do you know who I could contact about buying one of those black-and-white "Don't Be A Dick" shirts? —NaBarry

2005-12-17 21:22:06   You're right... IKEA makes Godwin cry. I'm just waiting awhile until the swastikas get put back in the inexpensive but tasteful drawers. And at least one participant can't understand why integrating and removing stale comments is good. —JabberWokky

2005-12-17 21:30:02   hahaha, sorry, I was a little quick on the draw... I wonder how many know Godwin? A good chance to learn, hahaha —DomenicSantangelo

2005-12-17 21:49:32   Hey, it just occured to me that Godwin isn't valid if the Nazis being discussed are actually 1940s era German Nazis. It's more of a history question wrapped up in a typical flamewar. —JabberWokky

2005-12-17 22:36:11   Fictional content isn't content, especially if it has the ability to confuse. Double-especially if it isn't even funny. —TravisGrathwell

2006-01-07 15:11:46   I think it's just that facebook has a significant delay in renaming groups...it took a long time when I renamed Christine Roger's facebook group, so it wouldn't surprise me if the name change had been requested back when the situation was different and hadn't come through until now. —PaulHarms

2006-01-14 14:51:59   How many places was Arlen a wanted page? Now that we have more than one I know that there was a push to tie any Arlen links to the appropriate one. —JasonAller

2006-01-14 21:51:03   the commissions chair bill was a good analogy to SB36, I must admit (though it had been the brainchild of Adam Barr). I agree also that I tend to make the "right" decision at the expense of people's "feelings" as well. When faced with that decision, I can only try to make the right one and see what I can do to address the feelings outside of that. I think the root of it all is that people tend to loose sight of the purpose of ASUCD. It's not to provide a drama entertainment to a select few; it's to get things done for the student body. The student body elected senators over two months ago to replace the outgoing fall 2004 senators and that is who they deserve to get to represent them. PS: thanks for the 'legal eagle' comment- you're the first to call me that! —ThomasLloyd

2006-01-29 22:33:54   How do I go about being ordained into discordianism? —TimCoady

2006-01-30 23:41:24   I don't know if you remember me from last quarter, but I am running and forming my own party to combat the two main parties. Yea, we got some pretty noble ideas, but it is not official. Hopefully next week, we will be for sure. But I always liked your ideas from 2 years ago until last fall and I would like to meet because I am tired of ASUCD and its corruption. Hopefully you'll like to talk. I don't know if you have friends running, but it be cool to talk. Take Care Molnar —MichaelMolnar

2006-01-31 16:20:58   Quick Grammatical Note: navigational points, e.g. north, east, south and west are not capitalized unless beginning a sentence or part of a title or proper noun. East Davis is not an official title/proper noun except in the context of a group such as "Old East Davis Neighborhood Association." I understand that your intent is probably to reference a wiki page, but I'm not sure that's appropriate in the context used on the Home Ownership page. Your call whether to revert or not, however. —AlphaDog

2006-01-31 17:58:54   You're right that West Sacramento *is* a formal title... hence the capitalization. East Davis is not a formal title any more than university is, e.g. The University of California, Davis believes itself to be the best university of all! —AlphaDog

2006-01-31 18:13:33   Sorry for the repeat visit... the capitalization issue is certainly debateable, and this being a university, it is often debated — especially capitalization of the word university! Anyway, since this is really an issue of stylistic difference, there is no right or wrong. Language changes daily as do the rules that govern it, so cap away! —AlphaDog

2006-01-31 22:06:04   I updated stuff about "Ignite", see what u think, they are on the Winter elections 2006 page—MichaelMolnar

2006-02-07 13:16:01   Is the proper name "The ASUCD California Aggie"? When did that change? AFAIK, the proper title is "The California Aggie", commonly referred to as "The Aggie". Please explain your source for the new name, Brent. Maybe the new editor? —JabberWokky

2006-02-07 14:47:17   Can we all stop trying to out-asshole each other on the wiki? It's been seen time and time again that adding in something doubly-absurd to counter something you find absurd doesn't work; I call it the PaulThober hypothesis. —TravisGrathwell

2006-02-15 00:53:38   Have you read the book Storm by George Stewart? I just finished and it was really good. —NickSchmalenberger

2006-02-21 02:12:20   U helping anyone this quarter for senate stuff. I been working hard campaigning. I Aggie is always the same, they only endorse people with experience with ASUCD. Hahaha, makes sense why they did not endorse me. Take a look at my Ignite page, I finished it, hopefully it looks good. Thanks again for the help. P.S. DId Rob Roy ever get endorsed. —MichaelMolnar

2006-09-04 01:55:42   Brent, it is not OK to "shout down" people with whom you disagree by deleting/reverting their changes without properly addressing their concerns and reaching a consensus on the best approach. —GrahamFreeman

2006-09-04 02:19:36   Excuse me? "anti-UCD?" Is this the same "with us or against us" mentality that has helped to contribute to the huge decline in the USA's global credibility in recent years? How is asserting the fact that this wiki is for the whole community of Davis "anti-UCD"? Please explain, using specific examples and lucid justification, how my approach is "anti-UCD". Why will you not engage in an honest debate? And yes, there is most certainly a much better approach than automatically reverting/deleting the changes of those with whom you disagree. Such behaviour repels those who would have something useful to contribute to the wiki but not the appetite to fight over every little thing. I'm tired of it, and I won't stand for it anymore. If you have something constructive to add, then do so. If you don't, then don't impede those who do. —GrahamFreeman

2006-09-04 02:34:30   Spare me with the melodrama. You cheapen the civil rights movement by borrowing its language. This is a debate in part over how to name pages on a web site, and in part over how to treat fellow contributors to this web page. It is not about racism, or any other such truly serious concern. —GrahamFreeman

2006-09-04 02:37:36   If a page about Davis City Council meetings were entitled "Meetings", I would be renaming it and arguing the same point about it. I really don't care what part of the Davis community is being referenced - my primary concern is how useful the Davis Wiki is to the members of the community of Davis. A fundamental part of that concern is recognizing the fact that there are many more members of the community of Davis than just those who have a UCD affiliation. This is not a difficult concept, and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't try to twist it around into something it isn't. —GrahamFreeman

2006-09-04 02:39:26   By the way, you misquoted me. Here's what I actually wrote: "This is the Davis Wiki, not the UC Davis Wiki. Certainly UC Davis has a strong presence in the community of Davis, but Davis includes much more than the University of California campus that shares its name. If this Wiki is to be valuable to all who might have reason to use it, its content should not assume that everyone is a UCD affiliate. As of August 2006, I feel that too much of the material on the Wiki is excessively slanted toward the UCD student population. That subset of Davisites should be served and given due respect, but they're not the only folks with a valid connection to the community of Davis." —GrahamFreeman

2006-09-04 04:20:58   I've been wrestling with the issue for a different small town/big university wiki for the past few months. If you guys come to a conclusion it would surprise me: it is one hell of a big issue with no clear answer. I've come to the conclusion that — for the average user — the namespace is never viewed "from above", and thus clusters of entries tend to naturally gather in university and non-university groups. That's based on what I've seen here, and has led to my generally deciding that domain (meaning "type of", not "internet domain") should not be part of the title, since a normal user doesn't browse by title but rather by link and search (which would still return the entry even with a domain qualifier like "ASUCD"... which would also pollute the namespace for searches for "ASUCD"). The same applies to bands, buildings, roads, etc. Wikipedia often uses the entry_(type) form to indicate domain, but I personally see it as unwieldy and confusing. So I've generally come to the "Foo Slate" rather than "ASUCD Foo Slate" side. I am aware that I came to that decision without a clear chain of logic: it appears to be impossible to come to any objective or defendable position on either side of the issue as they both have pros and cons. —JabberWokky

2006-09-04 04:32:50   BTW — If you're going to get lost, that's a good location. You went right past one of the gems in Oakland, the Parkway Speakeasy Theater, home of beer and movies and Rocky Horror on Saturday nights at midnight. —JabberWokky

2006-09-04 08:01:00   After thinking about it I'm going to have to side with the version of the title without ASUCD at the front. This isn't a clear-cut issue as there are some pages where ASUCD or UC Davis belong at the front of a page title. In this case I think about how the page title will be used on other pages as a link. I can see ["ASUCD Senate"] to clarify the domain of senate and separate from state and federal level senates, but ["Christian Democratic Party"] without the ASUCD because I can't see using the form ["ASUCD Christian Democratic Party"] in reference on another page. As such pagenames that discourage linking should be avoided when possible, and when it can't be avoided the alternative names (such as acronyms) should be set up as redirects. — JasonAller

2006-10-10 11:36:57   Actually, the last line was "Two-Minutes Hate". —BrentLaabs

2006-10-13 01:58:46   Is there something wrong with these redirects? They're just shortcuts to a lot of illogically named pages on DavisWiki.org.

Is the page www.daviswiki.org/Wireless? Or is it Wifi? WiFi? Wireless_Internet? Wireless_Hotspots? I don't get it— why is there all these redirects but why not a more useful "Wireless"? Why is there "Studying" but not "Sleeping"?

2006-10-15 22:21:01   Renaming is technically the same thing as creating a redirect (the old page redirects to the new one.) Why not just do it the other way and cause less commotion? —CharlesSuh

2006-12-09 22:20:10   Brent!!! I love that South Park picture. Thanks for coming to my concert, you made an excellent edition to the choir. You need to add honorary gospel singer to your about me section. Peace! —JillWeinstein

2006-12-10 00:35:21   I'm loving that "print screen" function, btw. —PaulHarms

2006-12-12 12:43:32   I got up to pee, came back, and you had already added the Copy/Paste tag, which was to be my next edit. Damn you... can't you bide for a fellow editor's bladder!?!? Are we not men?!?! (We are Devo) —JabberWokky

2006-12-13 14:42:28   L.I.D. —KevinPowers

2006-12-14 17:48:26   Sounds good, Brent. Stay Frosty. —KevinPowers

2007-01-20 23:14:32   Hey, that would be great. I definitely think that's something that should be done. —BobbyGray

2007-01-21 09:56:06   Anything like Lambda Psi Phi? ;) Psi Phi is the SF club on at least a dozen campuses. Expand that stub! —JabberWokky

2007-02-04 23:02:31   I'm pretty sure what andrew was arguing and what Leathers quoted was that a slate must technically have 2 or more people. So, you can call yourself something, but it isn't a slate per se, according to the bylaws/elections regulations. Its an interesting conundrum. —MaxMikalonis

2007-02-07 01:43:35   You've just made my facebook favorite quotes. —MaxMikalonis

2007-02-07 20:30:35   Damnit Brent, make sure you don't login as me next time. —DavidPoole

2007-02-12 01:50:20   By deleting Steve's pages, you're behaving worse than he has. Please don't do that. It's a terrible way to make a point, and it detracts from the value of the wiki. —GrahamFreeman

2007-02-12 01:53:23   I'm not getting into a revert war with you. Someone else can follow up on your childish behaviour. —GrahamFreeman

2007-02-12 02:41:13   Because people like you don't believe in me. —God

2007-02-13 08:36:26   Sorry, I forgot the wiki dorks will come out in force to revert anybody's deletions but their own. Do you suppose maybe the girl is trying to get a real job and doesn't want people to see that? —JeffSpeckles

2007-02-14 15:07:01   My mistake. I copied and pasted the ACL. It should be working now, I froze it at random (and left in the conflict marker, as I consider it locked to even myself in terms of content). —JabberWokky

2007-02-14 15:20:16   Of course, the fact that entries so seldom need to be get locked that I have to look it up each time is probably a good sign. —JabberWokky

2007-02-14 15:44:18   Could you verify that you can now edit the PWS entry? Something odd happened, and I'm not 100% sure it's working right. —JabberWokky

2007-02-14 16:28:18   Brent, you usually piss me off, but that rainbow flag was hilarious! :) —GrahamFreeman

2007-02-15 03:11:40   No on Outreach Assembly = Yes on Ostrowski. That hurts/is hillarious. —MaxMikalonis

I do know in olson 117 what was once a student focus chalking for weeks was suddenly LEAD today's, despite allegations that LEAD did not erase Student Focus Chalkings. Reputable, honest and professional? Perhaps. But I don't see that. — CarlosOverstreet

2007-02-21 00:02:45   For once, I am in full agreement with your actions, however destructive and seemingly immature. —TravisGrathwell

2007-02-25 22:16:40   You need to seriously back off with regard to Steve. "deserve to die"? Don't you think that is going just a wee bit too far? —JasonAller

2007-02-25 23:13:29   Quoting Brent regarding Steve: "you're an asshat and deserve to die." Brent, that's taking it way, way too far. Take a deep breath, walk away from the computer, and stay away from it for at least 12 hours. Go see some sunlight (if possible, given the weather). Read a book. Take a walk. Most of all, stop contributing to the problem. —GrahamFreeman

2007-02-26 18:21:24   Who is LID? —WilliamLewis

2007-02-27 15:28:21   I'll reply later, for now, I've got 1 hr to study several WEEKS of Econ. —MaxMikalonis

2007-03-02 21:43:41   Hey, what is Dan Hodyss doing in West Palm? That's my old old hometown. —JabberWokky

2007-03-05 08:55:06   Brent's contributions to ASUCD were recognized by former Senator Ajlouny in his farewell speech. So, mad props Brent. —JillWeinstein

2007-04-08 14:36:57   Re: @. I am wondering if it's a recently originated form that started as a UCD or UC thing. I can't find hide nor hair of it outside of student groups. I'm very curious about the origin. —JabberWokky

2007-06-08 16:22:05   err... I'd think picnic day is such a davis icon that it deserves a year-round page... Maybe remove the year specific info or move it to the 2007 page for it, but removing it entirely seems a bit odd. —WesHardaker

2007-07-03 14:04:12   In regards to the BBQ reversion, Shouldn't the wiki be centered around COMMUNITY events and not WIKI events? The 4th is tomorrow leaving plenty of time for the BBQ posting... Wiki is centered around the community, not the other way around... —GarrettGallegos

2007-07-21 20:23:28   Hi, Brent. I appreciated your comments on the GVCC page. We left GVCC in 1992 and can certainly understand the anonymity of some of the posters. Our comments here will no doubt make us all the more hated by those we once (and still) love there. —RichLindvall

2007-07-24 08:20:12   I like all the history pages, cool! Prytanean publishes a booklet that tells the history of many of the UC Davis buildings and UC Davis itself, so when I'm back in California I'll add what I know. —ChristyMarsden

2007-07-30 01:51:44   Brent, something's wrong. I'm agreeing with you again. WTF? —GrahamFreeman

2007-08-05 18:21:25   "[DCR] is a little too leftist for us; they keep talking about smaller government as if that's the solution," Laabs said.

2007-09-05 23:52:44   "Revert to version 1 (why do you delete talk pages without talking? i call for a permaban)."—We did bump the Ban SO page. Maybe this time it'll stick around. I mean, even JasonAller and JabberWokky have to throw in the towel sometime - is it really worth it. —EdWins

2007-09-05 23:55:24   yes it does already say this, not in so many words and not soon enough in the entry to deter customers. —mesme

2007-09-07 12:51:59   The videos aren't on youtube anymore, maybe we can edit the page to say they once were and the content they contained. —JamesSchwab

2007-09-10 19:17:56   I believe his status changed last year, when the adminstration designated ASUCD as a department. —JamesSchwab

2007-09-10 19:34:31   Thanks for the clarification. Ya, someone needs to look into the relationship. I don't think Mark would do anything but the people to follow him might. —JamesSchwab

2007-09-11 22:21:08   hey dude, long time no see how the heck are you doing? —GeorgejAndrews

2007-09-24 10:37:18   Please tread lightly on the newly unlocked entries while they are still stretching and blinking in the sudden sunlight... I'd imagine plenty of people have a variety of edits in mind, and everybody should get a fair whack at 'em. To that end I'm leaving up the Talk Pages... if it's a serious rewrite, it might be a good idea to pass it across there. YMMV, IANAL. —JabberWokky

2007-10-10 08:27:05   Nice link on the stop signs entry. —JabberWokky

2007-10-11 17:55:11   Yeah, but my point is it wasn't their idea to be called "Solidarity Slate", and technically Slate isn't part of their Orgs name. It was renamed to ASUCD Slates/Solidarity, and from there Solidarity Slate. So why not LEAD Slate or GO Slate?! —MaxMikalonis

2007-10-24 13:36:57   I made the (possibly in error) assumption that if Solidarity did not get their petitions in on time that they cannot run any candidates with the election. I thus stripped down their entry to a historical footnote. If they can still run somebody, please revert it back to a (theoretically) active slate. —JabberWokky

2007-11-02 15:37:23   I didn't know you were from Ventura! I am too :-D —JillBenciWoodward

2007-11-05 18:22:26   So I have the "Window's of the Past" booklet that Prytanean produces, containing all the history of most of the campus buildings. I don't have a lot of time to put all the information on the wiki but you can borrow the booklet if you'd like to. I see you around campus and I practically live on campus, so let me know if you want me to drop it off somewhere sometime. —ChristyMarsden

2007-11-12 23:27:23   You suck at life, you mangy old troll. Oh yeah, and your hair smells, too! —WilliamLewis

2007-11-13 02:22:31   Oh, are we to be insulting Brent now? Very well... ahem... Brent, your face has the guise of a mildly cancerous turnip both cultivated and harvested by a family of questionable repute. In addition, around your body are vapors of an alarmingly suspicious constitution. Consider yourself insulted, sir! —JabberWokky

2007-11-14 18:47:34   If John Dreyer got in trouble for campaigning, shouldn't that information be on his public page? (I don't know about it/have a link to a source). —EdWins

2007-11-24 18:09:15   You know that line behind you? Yeah, go back there and look for it. That is the one you shouldn't cross. —JasonAller
