One, it was not a threat, but rather, letting him know that if he tried to associate me with his business that I would insist on saying that I had no association with his business and why I did not want to be associated. I'd hardly call that a threat. Two, I don't personally dislike Brian, since I don't know Brian. I do, however, dislike his behavior on the wiki and his business practices and don't wish to be associated with them. Three, it was not a legitimate integration of a comment into an entry. My original comment was not directed at Real Computers, and I want nothing to do with Real Computers, particularly a remark that appears as though I was defending the business in some way. --["Users/CovertProfessor"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Users/EdWinshttp://daviswiki.org/Users/EdWins2009-10-27 14:53:22WilliamLewisComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Users/EdWins<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 603: </td> <td> Line 603: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2009-10-27 15:53:22 nbsp Nope, he still can't be worked with. --["Users/WilliamLewis"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Users/EdWinshttp://daviswiki.org/Users/EdWins2009-10-27 14:36:49JasonAllerComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Users/EdWins<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 600: </td> <td> Line 600: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2009-10-27 15:36:49 nbsp That was a nicely written and linked comment. I'd be happy to tell you all about ["Coffee-Bagel-Donut Day"]. Normally we are funded for 30 weeks of the year, the 10 weeks of each quarter, not finals week and not breaks. This year we were budgeted $350 a week, which had to cover food, supplies such as cups and plates, and anything incidental that came up (I had two 100-cup coffee urns break this year, which are not cheap to replace and have to come out of the CBDD line item in the GSA's budget). Last year the General Assembly passed the budget with a small amount to keep the event going through the summer, I think $100 a week. So we scale way back for the summer, offering a much more limited selection (just bagels, no donuts, and no "extras" like fresh fruit). It was popular enough that we are doing it again this summer. Next year we got cut back a bit for CBDD, but really, it sustained fewer cuts than a lot of things in the GSA since it does serve a large chunk of the graduate population. By mid-spring quarter we were getting 300+ grad students attending each week! Hopefully this answered your question, but please do feel free to drop me a line if you have any more specific questions: MailTo(scellis AT ucdavis DOT edu). --["Users/StaceyEllis"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Users/EdWinshttp://daviswiki.org/Users/EdWins2009-06-06 11:50:39JabberWokkyComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Users/EdWins<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 572: </td> <td> Line 572: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2009-06-06 12:50:39 nbsp And I am SURE I don't have you tell YOU that you should feel free to slice, dice and otherwise edit the hell out of anything I add. :) --["Users/JabberWokky"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> Users/EdWinshttp://daviswiki.org/Users/EdWins2009-06-06 11:49:51JabberWokkyComment added. <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Users/EdWins<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 570: </td> <td> Line 570: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <span>+ ------<br> + 2009-06-06 12:49:51 nbsp Yeah, I'm hoping it spawns edits to update the view. When they came to our house, they told us that the following things would let our dog know that we were dominant: walk in the house before your dog, don't let your dog sit on the furniture, teach your dog to "down-stay" and do long down-stays (e.g., a half hour every day), make your dog wait in a stay before <span>you eat</span>, always eat before your dog eats, teach your dog to heel, etc., etc. Of the things that they did might make people uncomfortable: they did have us do "leash corrections" while the dog was on heel (a jerk on the leash), they did push the dog down to initially show it the down position, and they did recommend a prong collar, which we didn't use and they didn't give us any flack for. Obviously, I can't deny Dr. Bain's or others' experiences, and maybe other people's dogs were more aggressive and so the trainers got more aggressive with them than they were with our dog? His friend's burger being red... well, that might be an issue if he ordered it medium. Go back to my very first reply (on the B&amp;B entry) and note that I asked how they ordered them and pointed out that it should be pink if it were medium (and red for rare). And with my citing of the first reply, I do believe you are correct: we have come full circle. By the way, thanks for the heads up regarding the 2007 CalCode update. Of course, I'm even more upset when laws get passed that outlaw things that people do to themselves. I have congenital heartburn (it's a family thing on my father's side), and I don't eat certain kinds of food (leafy vegetables or anything not fully cooked) when I'm downing antacids. I know that the antacids are wiping out a chunk of my ability to safely ingest stuff that would normally be okay. I'm just saying that (the rest of the time) it is perfectly safe from a lifestyle standpoint. Riding a bike is dangerous. Getting into a car even more so. But there are things we choose to do all our lives and can generally expect to expire from that activity. Someday I'll fall under the category of "elderly" and have to reassess what I do, from bike riding to eating rare burgers. But for now they are what I consider safe. I also grew up diving into pools and bodies of water (well, I grew up on an island). That's also a no-no by today's suggested guidelines. I still feel comfortable doing it and having my kids do it. It's a risky activity, just like many other things in life. It's just not so risky it is something that I avoid, and as an adult, I'd like to make that call myself.
