2008-02-22 18:45:15   Hello —StevenDaubert

2008-06-25 07:52:48   Hey Jim... I gave a reply to your wikispotquestion, but I should also note (since we're talking about it) that the correct spelling has been fairly well defined as "Davis Wiki". —JabberWokky

I gave a pretty useless reply on Fair Trade Coffee/Talk, not realizing it was you who posted the query. It's a "if you know, please edit!" notice, which I figure you would have already done if you knew the details. I'm leaving it up to inspire a non-wiki regular who might know more about the details but is hesitant to edit the wiki. —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards

2008-11-16 20:30:35   Instead of removing the comment, how about adding to the discussion on Campaign Contributions? —JasonAller

2008-11-20 09:30:21   Let me know what you think of Campaign Contributions/Proposition 8 (2008). I tried to work up a compromise that included info the people want without it being a major brand, which was a lot of peoples concerned. It was a bit unavoidable in the two new business pages I created, but I think the links on the other two pages were pretty minimal. —EdWins

2008-11-20 10:45:47   Interesting that the people who own businesses feel differently about this. I don't think many of the people discussing this understand how this just makes business owners feel like they are being picked out of the crowd and told that they can't support their personal beliefs or else the people they care about and are responsible for get hurt. At the same time, it is public information, so it's not exactly fair to hide it. It's a distressing situation without a clear answer. Enough so that I'm still mulling it over myself. —JabberWokky

2008-12-14 12:12:43   You can do three things, in order of complexity (which affects how easily other editors can come back and edit what you did) — either integrate it into the text ("KDWA, often written as DWA by US pilots"), create a blind redirect (an entry DWA as a redirect to the airport entry), or (technique that used to work and does not seem to work any more removed).. —JabberWokky

2009-02-15 15:22:41   I think sophias needs bouncers for the bar portion ^_~StevenDaubert

2009-02-24 18:09:21   I always figured that comment told us more about wunder1 than the Radio Flyer Car. Removing it almost protects wunder1 from the negative effects of their own words. —JasonAller

2009-03-29 01:24:23   the L and 5th valereo has been down, I would say due to the vapor capture nozzle required retrofit (10,000 per pump) —StevenDaubert

2009-04-22 22:58:17   Are you going to give JFountain a Welcome to the Wiki and explain things? —JasonAller

2009-04-25 09:45:15   If he wants to blank his userpage he can. It needs a link, but aside from that he can do what he did. —JasonAller

2009-04-26 21:56:44   Are you sure it's not just your electrical engineer side coming out (delta-wye and all)? —WilliamLewis

2009-07-30 10:35:11   That's cool. What did your computers for space missions do? —IDoNotExist

2009-07-30 10:35:46   (I'm curious too, figured I'd ask when RC was less cluttered. :) ) —JabberWokky

2009-07-30 10:48:22   You know, I think you might be right. I've known a bunch of people with high functioning Aspergers, and his behavior is not far off from those, if maybe a little closer to the autistic side. Socially, he's functioning WAY below his actual age (which I've been told is 22). The DSM IV requires at least two qualitative impairments in social interactions. He seems to meet:

"(B) failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to developmental level"
"(D) lack of social or emotional reciprocity"

He also seems to fit the stereotyped behavior requirement, although it is hard to tell over the wiki:
"(A) encompassing preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and restricted patterns of interest that is abnormal either in intensity or focus
(B) apparently inflexible adherence to specific, nonfunctional routines or rituals"

and, "The disturbance causes clinically significant impairments in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning."

Of course, I'm not a psychologist, and I'm not at all qualified to make a diagnosis. But I think you may be right... —IDoNotExist

2009-07-31 01:03:31   I've also seen sherman signing to the freeways multiple times at multiple locations along the 80 corridor. I believe the signs are encouraging people to go to his website, and reference the conspiracy —StevenDaubert

2009-08-06 13:18:33   william lewis put the part about the free services where it was on the computer repair page. You were removing his edit, not mine. —RealComputers

2009-08-06 13:34:49   I would like people to be able to read that I offer such free services on the computer repair page. I do not feel it is like and ad, it simply describes a major aspect of my business, which is some free service, however if you think there is a better way to state this I would be more than happy to have a dialoge about it, rather than an edit war. Would you like to suggest a better way of describing my business without eliminating important information? —RealComputers

2009-08-06 14:33:16   actually u were right, that should have been on the real computers page. Its just that I still wanted it to say something about other free services offered so poeple will be aware. Check it out, I think its ok now, what do you think? computer repairRealComputers

2009-08-06 16:48:03   Jim I appriciate your help in making the listing less ad like. I origionally was a little ticked off because it seemed to me that it was sort of rude but I realize that was not your intention. My only issue was that you deleted all mention of and free services other than diagnostics. I had felt that the description was too long however and I have since basically made it to be what you had changed it to plus one monor addition which is simply the mention of other free service but not a list of what they all are. —RealComputers

2009-08-27 23:22:53   I think you did a very nice job making the NFZ page factual by adding the text of the two resolutions. Do you think that my "research" comments are worth retaining as history, or have they also become a bit beside the point? —DougWalter

2009-08-30 21:58:53   I may be getting the wrong read on the situation, but I think that PFC Bishop is still alive. Thank you for your service as well. —JasonAller

2009-08-30 22:30:56   Maybe add an entry for yourself on the Veterans page? —CovertProfessor

2009-09-15 11:43:01   yay for adding trike guy ♥ —StevenDaubert

2009-11-07 21:52:57   I can't imagine there could be any problems with that. If you'd like I can (or you can) kick an email across the Wiki Spot list to check with the sysadmins, but if you (or your registrar) are hosting the domain and forwarding the URL like I imagine you are, there aren't any technical issues to worry about. —JabberWokky

2010-03-08 14:56:01   Got me. —CovertProfessor

2010-03-10 17:40:22   Hey, I just saw your reply to me on CovertEngineer's entry. I was teargassed during a nasty little event a little over 15 years ago. The thing that stuck out in my mind (other than the obvious) is the odd sensation that my skin was going in one direction, and my muscles the other. That and the fact that EMS had to attend to everybody because there was the danger of choking to death. Nasty freaking stuff, and it was pure luck I was in a position to get the hell out of the body of the crowd before they switched to pepper gas. Horrible stuff. —JabberWokky

2010-04-21 10:29:03   Thanks for the link to the University Airport Weather Station. I was focusing on Davis Wiki pages. What do you think about the new Weather Stations page with your link on it? —BruceHansen

2010-07-08 21:09:53   Ha! Usenet is part of the reason I use JabberWokky... now, if you know the group, you can actually spot the specific one (or at least narrow it way down) by the way I use it.

obUsenetReference: And I remember seeing the Canter and Siegel message hit and thinking people were over reacting. I still think it was the flood of delphoids, AOLians and Prodigers that were more detrimental to the net.

2011-05-04 14:26:33   Not sure how they would make kimchi stew spicy or not spicy, unless they have kimchi that's not spicy on hand and they just add in peppers or other seasonings to make it spicy. Whenever my parents made it they would basically just put in kimchi, water, and maybe some meat. —hankim

2011-05-04 15:40:47   If you normally have kimchi lying around then it is definitely not worth going out and paying for kimchi stew. I think it's basically bachelor food in Korea since all you need is kimchi that has been around too long, water, and whatever is about to go bad in your fridge (meats, tofu, vegetables). —hankim

2011-06-15 12:32:40   Nice turkey pic! —CovertProfessor

2011-07-04 16:16:24   Hey, I know you often avoid the thick of the wiki conflicts, so I wanted to thank you for weighing in when there are actual proposals on the table. The nature of the back and forth — especially when it's in that early frustrating period when things can be rough — dissuades many people from getting involved. While that's not great, it reflects how discussions tend to work in any open group, regardless of the medium... but when it comes down to finally making community decisions, I'm always keenly concerned that the voiced opinions may only reflect the most aggressive and active participants rather than the full spectrum of people. Some people will never chime in; that's just the nature of conflict. But I'm always glad that people who are generally quietly observing a rolling mess speak up when it's time to figure out where the community opinion lies.

Also, on a completely different note: if you ever find yourself in Orlando, Florida, make sure to swing by a place called Skycraft. They are a big surplus store and junkyard that has all the stuff that NASA and several related groups in the area (usually space, military or laser related) dumps as surplus. Lots of neat stuff, and I think you'd like it. I recommend them now and then to people who might be interested, so I apologize if I've already mentioned it. —JabberWokky

2011-08-08 07:44:35   Congrats! Enjoy the freedom! —JenniferCook

2011-08-12 15:20:02   Gone without much (any?) specific discussion, coupled with a rename that hid the changes (intentionally or not). I'm certainly going to take a look at what was specially removed again... and I know that at least two other people are as well. Personally I liked both (I even checked on the trike one because it was listed as an example of a bad one). For me it was a matter of not wanting to get into a debate (some have even said revert war) over specifics when people were still discussing the general topic. I'm trying to wrap my head around who is doing this cyber-bulling or malicious editing, with many of the people who actually wrote the entries stepping forward and stating their actual intent was to simply explain some of the neat and/or somewhat mysterious people everybody sees around town. The discussions on the entry itself seemed to be genuine human curiosity and replies that were very straightforward, with names and information. Pretty much wiki-eqsue. —JabberWokky

2011-09-27 14:29:12   Not paying high wages = death? Really? **GROAN** —OliviaY

2011-10-06 11:40:53   The line was drawn previously. We had an Aggie Columnist as an active editor years ago try to upload every single column he wrote to the wiki. Other users upload their [WWW]random works. I just want to avoid having a lot of pages like that clutter the wiki, which is why I like JW's move it off wiki.

2011-10-08 13:41:33   In my humble opinion you should know now not to take anything anyone under 25 says seriously, and it's disheartening to see you come out of the cuts chastising some poor thing who just wants to share a shopping story. They felt strongly enough about it to share, perhaps you could encourage more of the story / have the user use a realName and be part of the community. Anyways I figure you were making a snap judgement based off the typing/grammar/caps usage/anonaccountonadrive

but still

I hold you to a higher standard, simply because I know you are good people. —StevenDaubert
