I am now making a conscience effort to try out new things. This section is mostly for me to keep track of what I've done here and what I thought about it. If you take any of the stuff below too seriously (as with most all of the reviews on this site), you're nuts. This is, obviously, a major work in progress. - - Eating - Sushi - Buffet Quality (e.g. the "everything asian" buffet places such as King or Crazy buffet in San Jose) - Fortunately, I haven't found any of these places in Davis. Even the sushi buffets in town don't stoop to this level. There are, however, plenty of these places in the greater Sacramento area that do. Avoid. - Restaurant Quality (a regular sushi place; the food isn't amazing, but it's decent) - ["Fuji Chef"] - For the buffet, the lines are very long and the place is always crowded. The food is decent, although the nigiri obviously has extra rice. They'll give you plates full of sashimi (or anything else from the menu) if you ask, though, so it's not really a big deal. For dinner, it's much less crowded, but the food is pretty much the same. I'd go back. - ["Sushi Nobu"] - I went for a weekend lunch buffet and it was pretty busy but there wasn't any wait. The waitresses all seemed friendly enough, and the food was definitely on par with Fuji's, which is fine for me. The nigiri did have a good deal of rice, but, again, no more than Fuji. Having the sushi come by "dim sum" style is really great! There was plenty of variety and they seemed happy to bring anything else on the menu that wasn't already coming around. I'd definitely go back. (01/12/08) - ["Mirai"] - We sat at the bar and the food was very good. The chef would periodically give us something random we didn't order for free. It was a little pricey but it did seem a little better than some of the other sushi places in town. I'd be willing to go back, but I think Fuji or Nobu are better deals. (Sept. (?) 2006) - Amazing Quality (The absolute best. The places where the fish is very thick and fresh. Often expensive. e.g. Tomi Sushi in Cupertino) - I don't know of any places either in town or in Sacramento that belong here. The cover was steep ($7) and from the outside the place reeks of bad attitude. One day, I will make it inside. Maybe. (2007) - ["Sophia's Thai Kitchen"] - Went on trivia night. WAY TOO FULL since the place is way too small (only froggy's is smaller). Overwhelming. Would not return. - ["Sudwerk"] - Friendly atmosphere since it's mostly a restaurant. Good beer selection since it's a brewery. - ["The Graduate"] - Okay atmosphere since it's more of a pizza-type-watch-the-game place than a bar. '''TERRIBLE''' hotwings. I think they were just chicken wings covered in tobasco. Yuck! - Bike Rides - I like to ride my bike for fun and exercise. Take the bike paths and county roads and see places you wouldn't otherwise get to see. - [http://www.ucdtri.com/workouts/bike.php Triathlon Loops] - Airport Loop - First ride. Quick, takes only a little over an hour. Neat to see the airport. Lots of blackberries. Can hear music at Plainfield Station when they're playing. - Dixon Loop - Takes you over Stevenson Bridge! Around two hours. Nice variety compared to airport loop - Landmarks - ["Stevenson Bridge"] - Really neat! I'm very glad it will be retrofitted instead of demolished. Go check this out if you haven't. - Events - Picnic Day - 2007 - Rain! But that didn't stop me from having fun! Neat Davis native plant display, good beatboxing, fun parade, awesome a cappella, BATTLE OF THE BANDS (!!), free strawberry plants. A great time! - 2006 - Fun. - Bands/Music - ["Liquid Hotplates"] - ["Lounge Lizards"] - ["Harmoneo Funky Styles"] - ["The Spokes"] - ["The Afterglow"] - ["Gingersnaps"] - What the hell? The drummer seems like she really, really doesn't want to be there. And what's with that song "Love / Sad"? I won't be sorry if I never hear them again. - ["Band-uh"] - Awesome! - Walks - *["Olive Tree Lane"] - Very fun! Long trail flanked by old olive trees straight through the research fields. Ends at the runway to the campus airport where you can watch planes take off and land up close. A real gem!

WAY TOO FULL since the place is way too small (only froggy's is smaller). Overwhelming. Would not return. + ["Sudwerk"] - Friendly atmosphere since it's mostly a restaurant. Good beer selection since it's a brewery. + ["The Graduate"] - Okay atmosphere since it's more of a pizza-type-watch-the-game place than a bar. '''TERRIBLE''' hotwings. I think they were just chicken wings covered in tobasco. Yuck! + Bike Rides - I like to ride my bike for fun and exercise. Take the bike paths and county roads and see places you wouldn't otherwise get to see. + [http://www.ucdtri.com/workouts/bike.php Triathlon Loops] + Airport Loop - First ride. Quick, takes only a little over an hour. Neat to see the airport. Lots of blackberries. Can hear music at Plainfield Station when they're playing. + Dixon Loop - Takes you over Stevenson Bridge! Around two hours. Nice variety compared to airport loop + Landmarks + ["Stevenson Bridge"] - Really neat! I'm very glad it will be retrofitted instead of demolished. Go check this out if you haven't. + Events + Picnic Day + 2007 - Rain! But that didn't stop me from having fun! Neat Davis native plant display, good beatboxing, fun parade, awesome a cappella, BATTLE OF THE BANDS (!!), free strawberry plants. A great time! + 2006 - Fun. + Bands/Music + ["Liquid Hotplates"] + ["Lounge Lizards"] + ["Harmoneo Funky Styles"] + ["The Spokes"] + ["The Afterglow"] + ["Gingersnaps"] - What the hell? The drummer seems like she really, really doesn't want to be there. And what's with that song "Love / Sad"? I won't be sorry if I never hear them again. + ["Band-uh"] - Awesome! + Walks + *["Olive Tree Lane"] - Very fun! Long trail flanked by old olive trees straight through the research fields. Ends at the runway to the campus airport where you can watch planes take off and land up close. A real gem!
