Hey all, my name is Megan and I'm a Ph.D. student in the Sociology Department. I moved here from upstate New York with my two bunnies in July 2010 after graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in newspaper journalism, political science, and sociology.
Some of my favorite parts of living here include the biking and the great weather. Oh and the Double-Decker Buses, since I spent a semester in London in 2009. BUT I expected Davis to be a little bit more progressive. My wishlist includes a good selection of 100% vegetarian restaurants, extensive composting by the city, politicians who don't fall into the Republican/Democrat binary, etc.
My life is pretty much consumed by schoolwork and TAing, volunteering with the Yolo SPCA training foster dogs (program on hiatus right now), political activism, and just living the good life with my partner and bunnies Piper and Nona.

I'm glad you like the reviews — and even more glad that you delurked! I agree with you that Davis could really use a vegetarian restaurant (or two or three). —CovertProfessor
2011-01-25 22:30:15 Maybe you can help me with my burning Ding How question, which no one seems to have answered on the page: which of the vegetarian dishes aren't deep fried? (that is, are ordinary stir fried or steamed?). I don't tend to like battered, deep fried stuff (ok, I do, at least in small doses, but I try to avoid it) and the few dishes I tried there were all battered and deep fried. And so I wasn't willing to go through the whole menu, one by one. —CovertProfessor

2011-02-14 13:55:07 Not sure about the best place to put something on the Wiki, but make sure you're in touch with your insurance carrier. They should have you covered pretty well. Hit-and-runs fall under "uninsured driver" provisions, which apply when you get hit by someone who's uninsured or unidentifiable. If I remember right, all insurance carriers are required to provide some degree of UID coverage in CA, so you should be in good shape. —TomGarberson
2011-02-14 15:26:58 You could try putting up a flyer at the ARC somewhere (if there are any bulletin boards... ask one of the employees) to see if anyone saw it or knows anything about it. Maybe someone at least got the make and model. Hit and run is a lot worse than a ticket...

2011-03-22 00:01:42 For what it's worth, personal attacks are — dating back to the beginning of the wiki — about the only thing not tolerated around here. 2011-03-29 18:44:50 Why do people always go with the wage gap?
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/09/the_wage_gap_myth.html —hankim
-
Interesting that women who don't have children have the gap run in the other direction: according to that link, men make 13% less than women without children. Of course, one statistic does not say anything about a complex situation; I just hadn't heard that before. -jw
2011-03-29 22:51:28 Your claim about the second shift is valid, but I gave my source that claimed the original government statistics that led to the conclusion of a wage gap existing did not account for time commitment, so could you provide a source that time commitment was accounted for? Even if the profession is the same, companies are usually willing to pay more if you work overtime and are willing to travel or relocate. Also, I am assuming your definition of masculine jobs are jobs with danger involved like commercial fishing, oil drilling, and construction? The reason why these jobs pay more than a teaching profession most of the time is because with these jobs, the market decides the pay is worth getting seafood, oil, and houses and since these are dangerous jobs and there is a smaller supply of workers willing to do them while a demand for these workers exist, there is a high pay. Sure, good teachers are in demand and people are willing to pay a high price for them, but thanks to politicians and special interest groups, people do not get to decide with their money how to pay teachers. Whether a teacher is good or not, they basically get the same pay and job security. Also, pretty sure good male teachers and good female teachers both get the shaft in public schools, so using this to prove your point is a bit invalid.
You say barbers make more than hairdressers? Barbers are typically male yes, but I am pretty sure there are plenty of male hairdressers out there. Also, I basically pay a barber fifteen bucks for a thirty minute or less hair cut. Hairdressers get paid hundreds of dollars for other coloring, styling, and such as well as hair cuts. Also, depending on the state, the term barber and hairdresser can be used interchangeably.
For janitors or custodians, I was not aware this title was attached to a gender. Furthermore, a maid typically deals with residential duties while a custodian works in commercial settings. In a residential setting, you rarely have to deal with hazardous materials unlike in a commercial setting. Also, a custodian has a larger range of duties than a maid does. A maid typically works in the house while a custodian might maintain the grounds as well. Again, this does not support your argument.
For the statistics you typically hear on what mothers and child-free women make, do you know if they took time commitment into account?
Finally, think about who the currently widely accepted conclusion on the wage gap benefits? Women who call themselves feminists while making bank getting speaking gigs at college campuses? Of course information is always going to benefit someone. Just because information benefits someone does not mean it can be invalidated. —hankim
2011-03-30 09:24:14 I am saying that in the workplace, women are generally treated equally these days in the United States, except for when it comes to opening doors because according to instructional videos, holding a door open for women now can be considered sexual harassment. And I just explained to you why dangerous jobs pay workers more than a teaching profession. Just because those jobs tend to be taken by males does not mean that people want to pay guys more. Also, I explained to you the different duties of a maid and a janitor. And I actually did read the Census Bureau report. I clearly remember it stating that this report does not conclude the existence of any actual wage gap as it does not account for all the variables. And the link you gave me gives wages by week. If it's an hourly job, you can only really conclude something if you get the hourly pay and if it's a salaried job, you need a lot more information to conclude anything, but the file does not include any such information. No, we probably will not agree on this, but you seem to have just straight up ignored everything I said. Also, if women are always willing to work for less as you claim, then a clever entrepreneur should have already figured he or she can only hire women and basically save twenty to thirty percent on labor. You would have to hate women a lot to not do something like this. Of course, nobody has done this because there are so many other variables to account for. —hankim
-
You say that "a clever entrepreneur should have already figured he or she can only hire women and basically save twenty to thirty percent on labor." Even if this is true, I could see how an employer might easily discriminate against women simply on the basis that they can become pregnant. I would assume that a pregnant worker, especially for a relatively dangerous job, is a much greater liability for many companies. Think of a woman in her last few months of pregnancy climbing up a ladder, and I think you'll get the idea. If she should fall, a jury would probably be a lot more sympathetic because she is with child. Furthermore, even though the US doesn't mandate paid maternity leave, my guess would be that women are still statistically more likely to take the unpaid leave than men and for longer time periods, thus leaving companies scrambling for somebody to fill in these time slots. I know from my dad, who was once a store manager, that there are often two types of hiring policies even for large corporations. They have a policy on paper, but then they have a spoken policy dealt out by regional managers or store owners which frequently contradicts the written one. For example, you know how job applications always ask you if you've committed a felony, and that you won't necessarily be disqualified because of it? That was complete BS at my dad's company and your app goes in the throwaway pile immediately. It's like the first thing they check for. Again, it's because you are a potential liability as a former criminal. For a dangerous job, I wouldn't be surprised if millions of dollars of lawsuits filed by workers have encouraged similar shadow policies against women.

I've only seen data from Maryland, but in wrongful death suits, men are "worth" more than women. The average wrongful death verdict (jury finding for the plaintiff and awarding a valuation of the loss) for men is over $4.1 million (median $1.4 million), while for women, it's below $3.2 million (median $1.2 million). For male minors, the median jumps up to $2 million, compared to $1.5 million median for female minors (the averages actually don't increase that much from adults... $150k for males, $250k for females). Society values men significantly more than women. It's also interesting to look at women in the professions. The veterinary field is predominantly women, but wages in that field aren't even keeping up with inflation. My wife attended a lunch lecture on some topic or other where the lecturing vet, from a large, corporate hospital, highly respected in the field, outright stated that he thinks women are bringing the veterinary profession down because they get pregnant and take time off. And because of that, he's reluctant to hire them. Yeah. Needless to say, he wasn't invited back the next year (UCD's vet program is around 85% female). In the legal field, more than 50% of law school graduates are women. More than 40% of the lawyers hired by large firms are women. Fewer than 20% of lawyers promoted to partner are women (last I heard, there wasn't a single firm in the nation that was above the 30% figure). Women in the legal profession have less access to networking and mentoring—a male partner who invites a male associate out for a beer after work is getting to know the employee; one who invites a female associate out for a beer may be sexually harassing her (or starting up rumors at work)... so he doesn't. "Boys' games" are common for golf and the like. A woman who speaks casually or jokingly with a male boss is very frequently seen as flirting to get ahead. A lot of it isn't a matter of discrimination, but of systematic bias... but there's also still a decent amount of outright discrimination out there. —TomGarberson
2011-03-30 12:17:21 I only mentioned the janitor/maid thing because you brought it up to further your point about a wage gap depending on male and female jobs when they are not even the same job.
Weekly pay depends on how many hours worked and how much overtime worked. Unless you account for hours, you really cannot conclude anything from the information given. Also, teaching jobs are usually salaried, meaning they do not pay specifically by the hour. They are given a paycheck periodically. The link you provided oversimplifies everything and just looks at how much is made in a week. And when you simplify everything and ignore the huge amount of other factors when it comes to something like this, you either reached an inaccurate conclusion or you got the conclusion that you wanted.
And you claim that women are paid less in the workplace, so that means they at some point accepted the smaller paycheck while doing the same amount of work. It's not like they were forced to take the job for less money. Well, given a choice, I'm pretty sure we all would rather sit on our asses and not work, so technically we all are forced to get a job, but if you have marketable skills and an employer is ripping you off, then you could just get another job.
Finally, you don't like my source? Here's another one:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/22/opinion/22Sommers.html?_r=3&ref=opinion
The New York frickin' Times printed this. The article even quotes a study from the Labor Department. Look, we most likely will never agree on this and there are so many factors (and people distorting the numbers) that a 100% accurate conclusion could never be reached, but the arguments you made either had nothing to do with a wage gap between genders or are unsupported statements about the world being out to get women.
-
To be clear, that's on the opinion page, not in the news section, written by someone from the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank. And the study is not by the Labor Department, it's by the CONSAD Research Corporation. As for "unsupported statements about the world being out to get women," I never claimed there was some conspiracy but patriarchy is still very much alive, just like racism. If you were referring to what I said about negotiating salary, here's a study out of Harvard
http://www.hks.harvard.edu/news-events/publications/insight/management/hannah-riley-bowles and also see above comments by TG and SM for some empirical examples. Annnd I still think you're side stepping the issue about different pay for equal work when controlling for educational levels/experience/etc (and I'm not talking about janitors/maids). BUT this has already taken too much of my time, catch you on the flip side.

2011-04-20 13:17:31 Good catch on the USDA bit. I tried to rewrite it to be accurate to the article and must have misread or misinterpreted something when I went through the article. Of course, who knows how accurate the article is. They seem to have mixed in a bunch of semi-related topics to fill the space. —JabberWokky
2011-04-20 15:08:09 To be fair, it's pretty reasonable for a spokesperson to say "I've never heard of it" ... a categorical statement that "the University never received it" would be just plain dumb, particularly if the spokesperson hasn't had time to really dig into it and try to contact everyone who might be involved. There are quite a few possibilities that don't involve a conspiracy to cover it up, even assuming the university did receive the letter.
The thing I find suspicious is the repeated allegations by a variety of groups about violations of standards that never pan out. It could be that the USDA is in cahoots or something, but it seems more likely to me that they get these complaints, look into them, and are satisfied with what they find—presumably either A) the violations aren't serious and the cause of the violation has been addressed, or B) there wasn't actually a violation. I suspect we'd know in short order if there were serious violations going on, given the level of scrutiny on that place. —TomGarberson

2011-05-02 08:44:44 I probably won't review it any time soon. My experience echos many of the comments that are on the page already about the service (especially from the owner) and the food (some of which was really good, some of which was just OK). And I don't feel like putting my comment on the page only to be attacked by the defensive owner, or called out for the details of my group's treatment, which might uniquely identify us. It's a shame, really. The restaurant has so much potential, but I feel like the owner is a real liability. She seems determined to defend her behavior and to discount all of the criticism she gets about it. Maybe I'll go back at some point, but probably only if someone else suggests it. —CovertProfessor

2011-05-18 13:35:23 Oh, hey... no need to apologize. You just happened to follow a trend I've noticed (and that I've been guilty of at times). Removing something for a reason isn't the same as removing something and demanding it stay off, then getting into a revert war with other people. There's normally room for give and take when you simply remove things as part of editing the wiki, and the general assumption used to be that everybody had a reason, even if unspoken, so if you disagree or don't understand, just ask (or add it back and point out why). This year there were several really hairy and difficult decisions, so Talk pages were used extensively, and it seems to have prompted increased use of them. I'm just saying that most edits generally don't need a Talk page, even removing comments. Yours wasn't bad in particular: it was just the example I happened to point out the trend on. Everybody pretty much agreed with your edit. —JabberWokky

2011-07-06 08:58:59 I would simply describe that as responsibility. Then again, I view responsibilities as absolute requirements, not "until I get bored" options in life. I had a mouse injure its back (the vet gave steroid shots and she gained some use of her hind legs). I spent time every day grooming her with a mustache comb, and making sure she was mite free (as mice that can't groom themselves are very prone to mites, as we quickly found out). Some people thought we were silly, but we made a commitment to take care of her. —JabberWokky

2011-08-19 23:01:48 Reserved a truck a few days ago over the phone. Person I talked to was friendly enough. Told him I needed the truck around three and he said he would reserve it for noon and I should be able to pick it up whenever I want. He told me coming at three should be fine too. Show up today at three, older guy tells me I am late. I tell him the person I talked to said it was fine to show up after three. He tells me I am lucky he did not rent the truck out yet because otherwise I would have been screwed. Also tells me guy I talked to on the phone was fired or something for telling people this. Of course there is no reason to rent out the truck to someone else if they are going to charge my card anyway if I do not pick it up since I did not have to return it until the next day anyway so the opportunity costs would have been basically nothing since I basically put under ten miles on it today anyway. —hankim

2011-08-20 10:16:47 Caveat: the following information is a few years old, so there may have been some kind of policy change since then. The catch with U-Haul is that they don't guarantee you a truck in a particular location. When you make a reservation at one of their locations (e.g. Stonegate), they try to have it available for you there, but it's not guaranteed. What that means is more likely than not, everything will go fine. But with a little bad luck, you may wind up getting a call the night before or the morning of telling you that your truck is in Sacramento or Vacaville. Or, in my brother's case, Berkeley. Actually, first they told him his truck was in Sacramento. It wasn't until he got to the Sacramento location that they told him he'd have to go to Berkeley.
They discount your rental a little bit if they screw you over that badly, but they don't even make it free.
My own two rentals from U-Haul, one of them from Stonegate, went just fine. The time at Stonegate they didn't have the size of truck I'd ordered (I think a 14'), so they gave me the next larger size. It worked out fine, although if it had gone the other way - downgraded a size - I would've been in trouble. —TomGarberson
-
They must have a new policy, because their website says "When you make a reservation, we guarantee to provide you with the equipment size, location, and pickup time as agreed. Should you not receive the equipment size, location, and pickup time you agreed to, U-Haul will compensate you $50." Problem is, if they don't have a truck for me and I have to drive elsewhere for it, the $50 will quickly be spend on the extra round trip since they charge more than a buck per mile. I'll cross my fingers. -Megan

2011-09-06 16:47:28 Hi, I liked your letter to Ace about the bunnies. I used to work at an animal shelter and I always felt really bad for the bunnies because most of them had been abandoned and were afraid of people. This made them difficult to handle and not very attractive for adoption. So many people adopt them for Easter because it's "novel" and "cute." Three weeks later they realize it is a living being and requires care that they cannot provide. Hopefully Ace will reconsider their current policies. Nice to meet another animal lover. —LoriOrf
2011-09-13 21:25:50 The problem that has arisen is that it's being used on new editors now, who don't get the in-joke and are having enough problems with the non-satirical characters of the wiki. I didn't mind it when it was an in-joke. Josh ran off editors, and Losh nearly did tonight. It kind of doesn't matter if it's a spoof or not if it's still doing the same damage. There's also the confusion: Josh garnered plenty of ill-will by his own actions. That doesn't mean it's fair to heap on more via confusion. Although if you're not confused, and it's not actively causing harm, it was pretty danged funny. I think I physically did a facepalm and shook my head smiling at one dead on parody. —JabberWokky
2011-09-13 21:30:39 By the way, I wouldn't bother kicking my view across to you if I wasn't looking for feedback. As I say, I supported it in the past. Spoof accounts are easy-come-easy-go in my mind. Ephemeral. They tend to die when too many people have the login and password and somebody starts being uncool with them. —JabberWokky
2011-09-14 08:13:42 Oh, I'm sure Losh is a long-time editor. As Evan has pointed out, the standard is a lot lower for banning a joke account than for banning an actual person. There's no real loss (beyond a bit of humor) in banning a joke account. When you ban a person, you lose a perspective and an editor. The magnitude of the harm their doing needs to be quite a bit larger to justify the ban.
Of course, while Josh was editing here, I thought he did more than enough to justify a ban. But quite a few people felt differently (two or three of them strongly enough to threaten to leave the wiki if Josh was banned). —TomGarberson
2011-09-14 09:13:05 Banning an account is not a tremendously big thing, especially a spoof account that is likely used by many people. Banning a person is a different thing. Hundreds of accounts have been banned. A handful of people have (and only one in Davis). —JabberWokky
2011-09-14 09:36:07 Oh, I was more trying to explain my reasoning to get your take. I wasn't really trying to convince you — I was more interested in an actual discussion to figure out my own view (and possibly move it a bit if there were aspects of the situation I missed). I do like the Losh account (with an L), but I do think it has started to be abused. For the record, by the way, Josh (with a J) was banned for a cool-off when he was tearing into people left and right on one of his first nights here. I think most people forget that. This was early on, and he emailed some apologies to various folks and seemed reasonable. After the cool-off, he behaved much more civil (at least for awhile), so nobody really raised a community ban for awhile, until he started sliding back toward being abusive again. —JabberWokky

2011-09-24 17:22:27 MeggoWaffle I just wanted to day this is NOT revenge.
Internet+revenge=same people who's comments removed from Kets page
All I want to know is if jsogul worked at paesanos when he wrote that edit
If he did yeah take it off, If he didn't then put the edit back.
Again I am not 'out on revenge' cuz that's just stupid —ndah100
-
He has been editing the Paesanos page since the beginning of August. I'm not sure how anyone could come to the conclusion that he just started working there. Maybe next time instead of starting a talk page about three words, after I have explained my reasoning, you could simply ask him. Also, I'm pretty sure I never said you were 'out on revenge.' I simply speculated you are harboring a grudge considering you got your knickers in a knot over a tiny little edit that I had already explained. -Megan
2011-09-24 23:06:46 I'm not at all holding a grudge or anything. However I can see how you think that. Again I am simply voicing my opinion. —ndah100
2011-09-25 21:26:19 I think you meant to ask Wes-P that question, yes? I mean, it might be better to put the question on his page. I think you're right. —CovertProfessor
2011-09-25 21:38:25 It was clear; I just wanted to make sure that he saw it. —CovertProfessor
2011-09-25 21:47:31 Well, a lot of us do. :-) But Wes seems upset, so I'm just not sure how much he's following along. —CovertProfessor

2011-10-06 20:05:21 I don't know where Scott gets his info, but I've found the microfilm collection in Shields to be informative. Also, the map room has some useful old maps. Special collections has all sorts of stuff about Davis, like freshman handbooks. For a good overview of Davis history, Davis Radical Changes, Deep Constants by John Lofland is excellent. —WilliamLewis
-
Oh definitely. Anything by Lofland is great. I see him as the god of Davis history. ;) -SM
2011-10-06 20:39:25 Most of what I've posted today is from a book called "Davis from the Inside Out" by William D. Diemer. I'm not sure if it's still in print, but I'd be surprised if it is. As an amateur historian-dork, I basically find whatever local history book I can find (in this case a used copy from Sweet Briar Books) and then I strip the facts from it for your reading pleasure. If you are interested in local history, there are several interesting (but insanely musty) books at the local library that you may enjoy. :) —ScottMeehleib

2011-11-04 12:23:44 not to continue a debate that is nonexistent cause we appear to be in a miscommunication but: Factory farms are by far more productive per acre than organic farms, and the world is 7 billion strong. When I say factory farm I don't mean meat, I mean automated large scale production of crops (Corn, grains, etc)

2011-11-06 10:24:53 I like your addition to the pet page. I know so many people who adopt pets only to abandon them a month later when the novelty wears off or they realize the pet needs to eat and see the doctor occasionally. I've seen so many puppies die of parvo when a simple vaccine would have prevented it. I lecture all my friends about the evils of breeding animals for profit and help them find low-cost spay clinics; I all but forced a friend to get her three dogs fixed. I get so frustrated when I see new pictures of pets on facebook only to see "who can take my pet, I left my pet at a vet's office, etc" posts a month later. I just don't see how people can take on caring for a living creature only to do such a horrible job. —LoriOrf

2011-11-18 23:03:29 I really would have loved to be there, but I don't want to be up to my eyeballs in debt so I work 35-40 hours/week to pay for my 2 year. So, from the hours of noon to eleven at night I had things I had to do. —MasonMurray
2011-11-21 09:06:22 The Mediaworks studio has several things that your average lecture hall doesn't have.
-
Lighting grid. Cameras work best when there is tons of light. Take a look at how horrible the videos are of Katehi walking to her car if you're curious about how important light is. Take a look at the picture in
this article. See the truss? There are two can lights and a bank of florescent lights with barn doors visible on the first truss. There are three more trusses that are not visible in that picture. Along with these lights is a ridiculous amount of electrical service. If memory serves, there is 320 amps of 120 V single phase in that room. You can light something up like the sun in there if you want to.
-
Video fiber link. This is probably the most important reason why you would want to use the studio. Ever see those interviews on CNN where they go back and forth between shots in their main studio and and a remote studio? That's what they use. Along with that, they have a telephone circuit that the other end can call up and it goes into a barely visible earbud in one or both ears so the person can be prompted remotely. Anyway, any news organization who wanted to use video of the news conference could put in a switch order for the university's video fiber link and get their footage without sending a crew out to the campus.
-
Teleprompter. If there was a prepared statement, she could have read it off the teleprompter in the studio.
Some other great features that are less relevant to the current situation (yes, I'm proud)
-
There is a crew intercom system.
-
There is a fair-sized audio mixing board.
-
There is a massive amount of wiring in the studio that can easily and quickly be connected to the university's field production van. Ever been to a football game? They control the jumbotron out of that van. It's a control room on wheels.
Anyway, they could have held the press conference in a large lecture hall. None of this stuff is essential. However, a large lecture hall would have made for poor quality television (the lack of light, the difficulty of getting a good angle) and the university wants to put their best foot out to the world. Also, the video fiber allows them to get their message out to more people. The studio is the default place for press conferences. It's big enough for a press conference. Nobody was thinking enough to realize that maybe the students would want to crash their little party meant only for the news media.
Oh, and I guess they had another option, too. There is the old television studio on the second floor of Olsen. Its used for videoconferencing these days, but the light is suitable for broadcast television. There is no fiber link there, though.

2011-11-25 12:51:21 Sure, glad to help! Thanks for adding the pictures! —CovertProfessor
2011-11-28 09:32:06 Sure. Sometimes the short URLs makes sense, despite their shortcomings — for example, if you're sending a long link in an email, sometimes emails will munge the long link. But for a website where the link can't be seen anyway, it makes less sense. —CovertProfessor
2011-11-29 15:50:31
This is infuriating — I have been thinking about it all day. They say "we hear you," and then they turn around and show that, no, they absolutely do not hear. Or they hear, but simply don't care. —CovertProfessor
2011-11-29 17:07:04 Yup. And then they say they need to give the raises to retain good talent. Sorry, I would happily trade those 9 TAs for that lawyer. There are plenty of other talented lawyers who would take the job at the lower salary. —CovertProfessor
2011-11-29 22:52:30 Thanks! Obviously, your pictures are much better than mine! —CovertProfessor
2011-12-04 13:22:22 Thanks for the comments on the fact sheet; that was exactly the sort of comments I was hoping to elicit by posting it. I'm discouraged by some of my fellow faculty who seem OK with how Katehi is handling things, so we need to keep pointing out that she is not in fact handling things well, but rather continuing to spin the situation to avoid blame. —CovertProfessor
2011-12-06 10:43:16 I did! I'll get back to you on that shortly, thanks! —TomGarberson
2011-12-08 18:06:02 Hi MeggoWaffle,
I saw your question to EdwinS regarding the comment he removed from the Jeff Wood page. I was wondering if you thought continuing the conversation was really needed. Seemed like nobody was interested in changing their mind and the discussion had become somewhat antagonistic after a while, (both sides included). Not trying to shoot you down; you, Edwin, Jeff (and everybody else) have the right to voice your own opinions, but Jeff's been respectful of the peace since yesterday, and I'm not sure how productive starting up the conversation again is going to be. Just my input. Let me know if you have a comment. Thanks.
2011-12-08 19:37:37 Sure, glad to! —CovertProfessor
2011-12-08 23:44:06 Thanks for the response, Megan. I guess I'm curious if you thought EdwinS should restore the comment then. EdwinS has every right to re-post if he wants to, but the comment was openly directed at Jeff, and he has some prompting for Mr Wood to respond and clarify his views. If it is restored, it kind of does create an opening for restarting the discussion. Again, just my input. I'm only trying to defuse things here. —jefftolentino
2011-12-09 13:54:05 It was independent of Jeff's comment. Pissing in the wind is a dumb idea. —EdWins
2011-12-09 18:16:00 Hey Megan, thanks for the response. I did try to be as respectful as possible, but if it still came off as bossy, I apologize. I'll try to be more courteous in the future. I know we disagree a lot, but I do respect your opinion and I hope we can get along a little better with time. —jefftolentino
2012-01-17 16:32:35 The talk page is pointless. The person is an obvious troll using a pseudonym and entertaining any discussion about how what they're doing is in any way acceptable is insanity. —WilliamLewis
2012-01-17 16:59:34 That's pretty much my take. Although they are treading toward ban fairly quickly. —JabberWokky
2012-01-22 16:45:30 You didn't happen to get a menu to scan and upload, did you? —CovertProfessor
2012-01-22 17:47:24 Ah, too bad! Another hope dashed. :) —CovertProfessor
2012-01-27 17:03:00 Thanks for finishing the edit on the UC Occupy page! I was trying to say exactly what you said without sounding biased (which I am. that's pretty much exactly how i see it, too) but only got halfway. There's a meeting in an hour at the Yurt to discuss where to go from here if you're interested. —Angel.York
