While Tom may sound like a shill for The Davis Beer Shoppe, he doesn't actually get anything for repeatedly expressing his undying love for the place. He just thinks it's the happiest place on earth; a Disneyland for adults, if you will.

Tom finds it funny that riding a horse on a public highway while drunk can get you a DUI (Veh. C. ยง 21050). He finds it even funnier that as long as you're drunkenly offroading with your horse it doesn't count as a vehicle and you're probably in the clear. Moral of the story: if you're horsing drunk, make sure you're on the greenbelts or in people's yards, not on the road.1

Food Picks

Wings Sudwerk in town, Pyramid Alehouse if you're willing to go to Sac.
Pizza Lamppost Pizza generally; Steve's Pizza has the best veggie pizzas, and the BBQ Bird at Woodstock's is amazing.
Chinese Hunan! General's Chicken and Kung Pao there are amazing. Davis Noodle City and The Dumpling House are also great.
Mexican Taqueria Davis is by far my favorite. Dos Coyotes is a quick, easy, and fairly cheap alternative. Taqueria Guadalajara is disgusting. [sacramento]Zocalo has great upscale Mexican in midtown Sac.
Sushi Zen Toro for pure quality; Sushi Unlimited for a good blend of quality and value.
Thai Thai Canteen has the best curries. Sophia's has amazing fish dishes.
Indian Namaste Nepal, plus they offer free delivery on orders over $30! (Haven't tried Bombay Dreams yet)
Grocery Nugget. No contest.
Produce Yolo Fruit Stand and Pedrick Produce are a toss-up. Farmer's Market is overpriced.
Drinks The Davis Beer Shoppe ... it's like Disneyland for adults. The happiest place on earth.

2011-06-27 15:13:10   Yeah, archiving them was something that happened when it looked like Phil was claiming that Fo' Paws was his business, and one-by-one people's comments were being deleted or qualified by those who made them... so, it made sense to archive them to distance them from the current business. By the way, I am soon going to have to take a wiki break, so if the shit does hit the fan and I don't participate, you know why... it's not that I want to leave all of you with the flying shit. —CovertProfessor

2011-06-27 15:16:29   The latter. —CovertProfessor

2011-06-27 15:17:37   Ha! I hope so, too! —CovertProfessor

2011-06-27 21:09:56   Great job with the new Business Owner page Tom. —Wes-P

2011-06-29 23:42:33   I logged onto my account, and I'm clearly logged on, but it says wrong password(?) It has happened to me twice before, next time I will take a picture of it. —NikhilDahal

2011-07-05 22:44:54   My reasoning wasn't "there isn't really a consensus here" but rather "there is a clear-cut reason to keep the page that everyone has overlooked, and everyone is only focusing on PA's actions." Even so, I was going to leave things as they were, when JW suggested that he had forgotten about the history of COFP in Davis, and that I might try making the changes — though he also warned it might be too hot to do so just now. But I took his suggestion and I thought I'd try it to see how it went. In the end, it seems to me that the page does qualify and somewhat call into question all current claims to have a business in Davis, yes? —CovertProfessor P.S. Actually, to be more precise, he said, "I don't think it can be written rationally right now, but the entry isn't locked, if somebody really wants to wade in and take a shot. " And so I did.

2011-07-06 00:00:26   I have refused to use the Wiki because every time I click 'recent changes', the 'craft fo paws(page deleted)' happens, then (page restored) happens

It's ridcipulpus, I'm sure not 1 person cares about it on the wiki, everyone just wants to have to say something.

2011-07-06 08:51:31   Frequent wiki editors get too close to the stuff and feel the 'stress' more. I've been here since '05, probably have at least 5K edits. Over the last few years, been a lot more lax and pretty off/on. It helps save wiki sanity. Anyway, check the timeline on the talk page. On the 2nd, Don asked if people would just back off and wait a week. All the 'crazyness' was on the 4th,a holiday, and the 5th. The 2nd The 2nd was a Saturday. The term consensus gets thrown around too much, too often, too quick. Usually, it's due to editors rushing to do what they think is right, and what others agree with. The problem can be that it happens too quick for others to give input. In this case, some people did (like Jim). What was very clear to me was that a huge chunk of the argument about deleting the page was entirely based on PA and his wiki actions. Arguing over what is consensus changes every twelve months with new active editors. The only original and true wiki norm was that the wiki is here to document Davis history. Period. That's the bigger issue that was actually at danger. What I found sickening was that frequent editors getting overly riled up/sensitive and wanting quicker punitive action. And come on, that's what it was. (I'll have to call out Wes for jumping into more than one talk page with the "I'm so sick of the taxi/bar/whatever, let's just ban it" commentary - clear sign of a needed wiki break.)
Anyway, again, the wiki is here to document Davis history, including businesses. The original founding reason! What I said on the talk page: "So we have what was a Davis business, split from a Davis business, that had at least another location in Davis, is currently officially in Woodland, is also (allegedly illegally) operating out of a residential home in Davis, and still grooms/caters to Davis' dogs/cats." The fact that it was in two Davis locations was being overblown by whether what they're doing NOW is worth mentioning. That's irrelevant - their history is relevant, period. It deserves a page, and I completely stand by CP. I think that if more people took a few steps back, a few deep breaths, and looked at it piece by piece, they might agree. —EdWins

2011-07-06 13:50:16   Sorry you saw my actions as an F-you; they certainly weren't intended that way. But I have already explained myself, and clearly you're still not happy, so there's not much else I can say, except to say again that I am sorry. I did what I thought was right and it did not occur to me that anyone would take it personally. —CovertProfessor

2011-07-07 09:42:40   Good, I am very glad to hear that. —CovertProfessor

2011-07-07 17:35:25   Hi Tom. I'm doing fairly well, thanks for asking. At times, I'm still struggling with some of the same issues that I've discussed in the past. But overall, I'm doing a lot better, particularly within the last couple weeks. I have a renewed sense of confidence and optimism in life. :) —ScottMeehleib

2011-07-09 01:16:03   For a while I thought MaxLucas was the only editor on the Wiki..

2011-07-13 19:43:45   Thanks, Tom. We've had a lot of the structure in place, but our downtown pages have really needed to be tied together. I've been having a lot of fun 'filling in the gaps'. Thanks for gnoming once in awhile and paying attention! —AlexDarocy

2011-07-16 08:57:22   She's still having back problems, but is walking around and back to work. The police report has been done for weeks, but the Enterprise hasn't followed up. I'm not allowed to say anything specific about what they found because she is suing him in small claims court for some things his insurance won't cover... but I'll just say I wasn't surprised by their findings ;) —MeggoWaffle

2011-07-25 11:50:55   I'm starting to think that the Shoppe has you in their pockets. How much they paying you? Can I get in on this? —hankim

2011-07-25 12:06:32   To me it seems noting - somewhere. It might seem like a small thing, but to me it's a big, maybe small thing. When i started thinking of this a while back, I noticed your water policy thing with Little Prague. After I made the Freebies edit I also thought about it when for the first time I saw a water dispenser with slices of lemon at the new (getting older now) Nugget. I was disappointed that I couln't taste any lemon in the water. I bet sometimes they run out of water or don't put out the dispenser. It's great to have plenty of fresh-squeezed lemon and readily available water. Then I don't have to wait for service or maybe get an attitude. It's a small thing that's kind of a big thing. It's understandable if it's not listed under Freebies if Freebies are something that would have considerable cost. —BruceHansen

2011-07-25 18:55:31   "Well said." —BruceHansen

2011-07-26 08:13:30   Sorry about your experience at the bar Tom... the afternoon service is taking a hit as one of the young ladies is leaving soon and has taken the attitude that she just doesn't care anymore, especially since the owner is out of town for the next two weeks.. Come see me next time you're around and I will buy the first round for you and your spouse. —Wes-P
