I was in the 24 hour reading room. Went to the bathroom, came back, there she was. I was only gone a minute, and my table was the farthest one in the back. No way would I have missed her come in the entrance and shuffle to the end of the room for no reason. (And how would she even enter, unless she has some type of working id?). Some 10 of us watched her shuffle slowly and exit out the normal door. There are 3 doors in the back. Mens room, ladies room, and one that iirc says "Emergency Exit: Alarm Will Sound". I am sure she came out of that door. She was right in front of it. She had her bags and all. She was rustling something, I wasn't sure what it was. Thought it was bracelets or something at the time. But this morning, at 7ish, some guy came in with a couple of paper bags, walked right to the back, and used a key on that door and dissapeared. So I think the rustling was her with some keys. Couldn't study at all, was so curious. Where does that door go to? Or better yet, where does it come from? Where did the other guy dissapear to? If that was an exit, why would she go through the 24hr room? Too bad the sessions over. Or else I might have had a stakeout next time I had an exam or final.
-
- * She pretty much lives in ["Griffin Lounge"]. I used to see her there, in the far corner, every day back when I was hanging out there every day too. Once I tried to make friendly conversation with her and she barked back "BE QUIET!". It so rattled me I was afraid to say anything to anyone for weeks afterwards. I used to pass her on the sidewalk around downtown (and other places I roamed) carrying her large trademark (["UC Davis Bookstore"]) plastic bags with her. I always thought there should be a Wiki page on her; now I know.
-
- * I am convinceed that she lives in the music building. I've seen her in other parts of campus only at daytime. Late in the evening, I've always seen her in or around the music building. Needless to say, the music department seems to have its own rumors about her. The story that she lives in the room attached to the girls bathroom in the music building makes sense to me. Ususally the door is closed, and nobody notices it. I think that the room was originally supposed to be some sort of dressing room, but one evening, the door was slightly ajar, and it looks like somebody lives there. Everyone in the department is convinced that it is the visor lady who lives there.
-
- * She's very easy to find. She spends every day in the Southeast corner of ["Griffin Lounge"]. In fact, even if there are no other chairs available everyone knows which is ''her'' chair, so nobody messes with her stuff even if she isn't there. I glanced at one of the books she was reading. To my surprise, it was something heavy, like a classroom textbook. No light reading for her. I once touched her hand and she went ballistic..."-["JenndelaVega"]
-
- * I saw Visor Lady walking down Chestnut Street in San Francisco on Chirstmas Eve 2004. I totally did a double-take because I had only ever seen her around the MU. I wonder where in Davis she lives. -["KayRide"]
-
- * I saw her at the Amtrak station in Richmond, CA in the fall of 2003. She wore her infamous green visor and carried a ["UC Davis Bookstore"] bag. There were no books in it. I think she was on her way back to Davis after spending the day in Berkeley. I'm not sure why I believe this. Call it a hunch. -["GracielaGuardado"]
-
- * I'd be interesting in knowing what she's been reading. I once saw her reading a very thick PHYSICS book. If anybody else has information on what she's been reading please share (if the FBI can do it, we can too) -["DavidKoppel"]
-
- * I've seen her working on music before in ["Griffin Lounge"]. Also seen many other strange things but I'll respect her privacy. - ["JackHaskel"]
-
- * Almost every Monday and Wednesday evening (around 6pm) I see her in the lobby of the music building. I think she sticks around there to listen to the various ensembles practice. -["StacieTownsend"]
-
- * According to a recent [http://www.livejournal.com/community/ucdavis/1972715.html UCD LiveJournal entry], Visor Lady sleeps overnight in the music building. Evidently the girl's ["bathrooms" bathroom] on the first floor has a separate room where she keeps all of her things. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I thought it was illegal to ["Sleeping On Campus" sleep on campus]... -["KayRide"]
- * So I'm realizing now that the link to the LJ thread above does not have the specific claim about Visor Lady living in the music building. I'm almost positive this was on a thread that someone posted about being in the MU Lounge and seeing a very attractive woman in the corner, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Can anyone else locate this thread? -["KayRide"]
- * That LJ post got deleted. My friend was the one who actually posted the initial comment about seing a "goddess" in Griffin Lounge. Due to backlash he deleted it. We aren't exactly sure why he posted it to the UCD LJ page and not his private LJ, but I know I printed it out and the copy is somewhere in my room. However, I know for a fact it wasn't the visor lady he saw. He was rather upset about people suggesting that he was talking about her. Knowing him, he mostly likely was talking about an Asian girl. - ["TracyPerkins"]
-
- * I can't locate the livejournal comment, but according to a closely guarded source who practices late in the practice room, there was a pile of bookstore bags with Visor Lady's possessions in the downstairs girl's bathroom last week, with a note on top of them that said "Wanda, can you please leave the bathroom unlocked? They have to clean this bathroom, too. Thanks." (May have been written by Karen Boerner or Sue Polley of the music office). So she's Wanda, and locks herself in the music building. Also, she doesn't like it if you open the door for her. -["LuisdelaTorre"]
-
- * I work at the library and checked out a book on the Sanskrit language to her, we had a nice little conversation, I had her last name... but I forgot it, next time I see her I'll be sure to pry some more information from her. -[Anonymous]
-
- * Oh my god, I've been wondering about her forever! I see her all the time and I've always been really curious watching her shuffle back and forth. I once opened a door to be nice and she gave me a glare. She spends a ton of time in the MU lounge/reading room. Whenever I go study there, especially from like 9/10 am to 1 or 2 pm, she's always sitting in a chair doing god-knows-what. Then walks back and forth to the coffee house. -["EdwinSaada" edwub]
-
- * In December of 2003 I went to a Hostel in San Francisco (The Fort Hostel near the last pier) and lo and behold, she was there in the lobby listening to her little headphones. This particular hostel was very clear that only paid guests could be in the lobby, so apparently she was spending the night. Either that or she was getting out of the rain. I was truly amazed. -["BretBenziger"]
-
- * On one of the last days of Winter Quarter '05 I walked into the MU study lounge and just passed Wanda leaving. I hadn't seen her in a while and my mind started wandering thinking about what her story must be. After I sat, she came back and made a bee line for me with an intense look on her face. I got really anxious because I'd be meeting a minor celebrity. She walked right up to me then started looking around me as if I didn't exist. I've been emotionally shafted by important figures before so I should know when to cut my losses but I still just looked up at her wishing to be acknowledged. Then she asked me if I had found her gray beanie near my seat. It was right next to my backpack and after she had it back she thanked me and left. I think I sat there for a couple of minutes completely star struck. I mean the closest I've ever come to something like this in Davis was when ["Brian Campbell"] smiled at me when I was crossing the street in downtown last December. I've been hugged a whole bunch of times by hugging guy too. But Wanda is still the most interesting minor celebrity to me. -["GautamJoshi"]
-
- * Visor Lady: Live coverage. I'm sitting in Griffin Lounge next to Visor Lady as she's enjoying a lunch of MU salad. Actually, first I was sitting next to an empty chair with yellow legal pads strewn around, each one with large writing in green marker. One pad has notes on ''number theory'' of all things. A few minutes later Visor Lady walked in and sat down with her lunch. I wish I knew how to strike up a conversation with her without the danger of upsetting her. -["JeyKottalam"]
- * "Hello"
-
- * Monday morning, sometimes between 5:45 am and 6:00ish. I totally did a double-take because I had only ever seen her around the MU. I wonder where in Davis she lives. -["KayRide"]
+
+ * I saw her at the Amtrak station in Richmond, CA in the fall of 2003. She wore her infamous green visor and carried a ["UC Davis Bookstore"] bag. There were no books in it. I think she was on her way back to Davis after spending the day in Berkeley. I'm not sure why I believe this. Call it a hunch. -["GracielaGuardado"]
+
+ * I'd be interesting in knowing what she's been reading. I once saw her reading a very thick PHYSICS book. I thought it was illegal to ["Sleeping On Campus" sleep on campus]... -["KayRide"]
+ * So I'm realizing now that the link to the LJ thread above does not have the specific claim about Visor Lady living in the music building. However, I know for a fact it wasn't the visor lady he saw. He was rather upset about people suggesting that he was talking about her. Knowing him, he mostly likely was talking about an Asian girl. - ["TracyPerkins"]
+
+ * I can't locate the livejournal comment, but according to a closely guarded source who practices late in the practice room, there was a pile of bookstore bags with Visor Lady's possessions in the downstairs girl's bathroom last week, with a note on top of them that said "Wanda, can you please leave the bathroom unlocked? They have to clean this bathroom, too. Thanks." (May have been written by Karen Boerner or Sue Polley of the music office). So she's Wanda, and locks herself in the music building. Also, she doesn't like it if you open the door for her. -["LuisdelaTorre"]
+
+ * I work at the library and checked out a book on the Sanskrit language to her, we had a nice little conversation, I had her last name... but I forgot it, next time I see her I'll be sure to pry some more information from her. -[Anonymous]
+
+ * Oh my god, I've been wondering about her forever! I was truly amazed. -["BretBenziger"]
+
+ * On one of the last days of Winter Quarter '05 I walked into the MU study lounge and just passed Wanda leaving. The story that she lives in the room attached to the girls bathroom in the music building makes sense to me. Ususally the door is closed, and nobody notices it. I think that the room was originally supposed to be some sort of dressing room, but one evening, the door was slightly ajar, and it looks like somebody lives there. From what I can see her name is Wanda Underhill. It's written all over her books. I've been sitting next to her for quite awhile, but she just fell asleep. She is wearing three watches and has binder clips all over the front of her jacket. After reading the comments here I'm afraid to look at her anymore. I noticed her looking at me a little while ago. --["MeredithBrown"]
- * She doesn't appear in the online campus directory. Wanda Hill apparently works for the campus police, though. I swear I almost gave her a heart attack once, simply by walking quickly past her from behind. I felt so awful! I could have killed her. She's always sitting in "her" chair and writing on that steno pad of hers in that famed green marker. I've seen her writing down spanish, calculus, music... She must be pretty smart.
