2009-12-23 13:55:13   This isn't local and the comments all seem to have been left by "interested parties". I already changed the one link to the page to point to the woodland wiki version of the page. —JasonAller

2009-12-23 22:59:58   Aren't the entries by laker09 a little odd? They aren't consistent. —DonShor

2009-12-27 20:12:12   and now kb24 has deleted the page. —JasonAller

2009-12-27 20:23:44   Oops, I reverted the page back thinking it was a malicious delete. Not sure where to go from here... —JimStewart

2009-12-27 20:42:38   Yeah, let's do something about this.. —PhilipNeustrom

2009-12-27 21:38:59   I'm a fan of keeping pages that are in easy distance of Davis and could reasonably compete with Davis businesses, so that people can compare them, say whether they are worth the drive, etc. So, I think we should keep the page. But all of the comments are highly suspect and should probably be deleted. —CovertProfessor

2009-12-28 10:52:08   I went ahead and took action as the Talk page was not really finding a solution. As always, feel free to revert, but the edits were made as two distinct revisions so that they can be discussed as individual actions: removal of all reviews (which is a strong action, yes, but seems to be fair given the reasonably documented hijinks and the lack of anybody defending them), and then a rewrite of the entry to focus on the core business and what makes it distinct to be worth the trip. I'd suggest that anybody restoring reviews do so on a case by case basis. Yes, this is a "burn the crop and replow the land" solution, but it seems called for given what appears to be a fair assessment of an astroturfing effort. This gives room for new, honest reviews to pop up. Another option is for somebody to go through and try contacting and verifying people, etc etc. That is (in the real world) unlikely, so this at least sets the entry up to regrow in a more healthy manner. —JabberWokky

2009-12-29 10:01:39   As soon as I had changed the one link to this page to point to the Woodland location there were no other links pointing to this page other than the one on this page. Once this talk page is deleted the page is again an orphan. The Woodland version still has some of the same astroturfing on it. I'm not sure what the right course of action is, but I don't think that this issue is resolved yet. It would be really nice if one of the astroturfers came forward and explained. —JasonAller

2009-12-29 10:54:49   I removed this part from the article: "One reason to take the trip next door is due to their being "100% Organic" cleaners who use hydro-carbon machines to professionally dry clean your clothes." Reasons:
1. It is not lawful to make a claim about a product being organic without complying with the requirements of organic product certification.
2. The use of "hydro-carbon machines" is not a noteworthy feature. The two solvents which are commonly used for dry cleaning is liquid CO2 or PERC. PERC usage is being phased out by legal mandate in california. As a result, all dry cleaners in the area use liquid CO2, or "hydro-carbon machines" as the article states.
3. The sentence implies that all dry cleaners in davis use perc instead of CO2, hence one's need to "take the trip next door." This is a falsehood; I know of no cleaners in davis who use PERC instead of CO2. Examples of a cleaner in davis who use CO2: Executive cleaners, that place by sweet briar. —EdwardNiemand

Oh and one other thing, I just cruised by this article because I was surfing for recent changes and I was annoyed by the crap claims about organic dry cleaning and the misleading stuff about PERC. I am not involved in whatever weird dry cleaning astroturfing contest is unfolding.
