Cathy Carr West is an Olympic double gold medal winner in swimming from the 1972 Munich Olympics. She set world records in both the 100-meter breaststroke and the 400-meter medley relay. Cathy graduated from UC Davis and is a teacher at Pioneer Elementary School. Although she won her medals while she was at the University of New Mexico, she swam with the Aggies once she transferred to UCD in 1974.

Cathy was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an "Honor Swimmer" in 1988.

She did a "Standing In" column for Bob Dunning's regular feature in The Davis Enterprise, in which she compared her experiences as an Olympic athlete to those of today's athletes. (See article here).
