2007-01-02 11:55:27   I recently visited this establishment for brunch w/ friends when our usual brunch place was closed. As a strict vegetarian (i.e. vegan), I have struggled with living and dining in Davis. My experience at Crepeville supports my claim that it is HARD for vegans to eat out in Davis, CA. When I read over the menu I was happy to see that they offered a tofu scramble! It sounded great and I was impressed/relieved that a place like Crepeville would serve this type of "progressive" fare. Of course, in true Davis style, the tofu scramble also contained eggs! WTF? So, vegans, please be advised: if you ever order the tofu scramble, please be sure to request that the eggs are removed, so that it only contains tofu and veggies. I am still chuckling over the incident. I will NOT be returning to this place anytime soon. The Delta is more my cup of tea, I suppose... —AlvinoGina

I think "scramble" universally means eggs and even non-vegans eat tofu. —JimEvans

2007-01-02 15:42:17   Does JeffSpeckles get a cut out of Crepeville revenue? His job here apparently is to make fun of other posters when they don't like Crepeville. Personally, I think all the ingredients in the Crepes at Crepeville taste like they were previously frozen. I am now prepared for JeffSpeckles to log on and flame me. —AmyGoogenspa

You haven't been paying close attention. I guess you didn't notice the part where people called the owner a racist, a sexist, a bastard, and accused him of tax evasion. But hey, that's cool, because he's not here to defend himself. Apparently it's okay to attack anybody you like on the davis wiki, unless of course they are a wiki-an. —JeffSpeckles

2007-01-17 07:46:56   I'm still not completely sold on the crepes, but everything else on their menu is golden to me. They are one of the best places to study (especially early in the morning). I just had to post something (as I'm sitting here) as customer service is great as without a negative or frustrated look the really nice girl working the register took my order that incuded, subbed spinach for cheese, subbed bananas for toast, subbed soy for milk, and an omelette with just one egg yolk. I will definitely continue to frequent Crepeville (and who knows, maybe one day I'll grow to like the crepes). —AlvinTsao

2007-01-17 12:15:47   There have been a lot of complaints about poor management and being asked to vacate a table, but they are mainly concerned with table-turnovers during peak lunch and dinner hours (as I was informed by the manager). If you go to study in between peak hours, you're less likely to be asked to leave or purchase additional food. I definitely understand both sides as I have both been an errant studier and a just-here-for-the-food customer unable to find a seat. —AmelieDoisneau

2007-01-23 22:13:27   I love coming here in the morning for OJ and breakfast. There is nothing better than spending a fall/spring/summer morning on their patio with the newspaper, eating breakfast, and watching downtown wake up. One of the things I've really come to love about Davis during my time here. I'll miss it when I move on next year. —RussellAnderson

2007-02-21 11:36:38   I like Crepeville. A lot. Service is hectic, but so is the place during peak hours. They make a terrific burger. Great value overall: you get tons of food for what you pay. Coffee cups are too small though! —BriannaBetancourt

2007-03-30 15:58:43   I love this place. The food is really excellent. My favorite is the California crepe and the salads, and they always give you a huge batch of potatoes if you order the 1/2 sandwich. The servers are always friendly, too. —GreenThing

2007-05-02 20:30:02   Calling this "French" seems a bit of a stretch. Other than the crepe, it's hardly French... anyway, I love the "make your own crepe" option here. I start with the basic crepe (cheddar and onion, I believe) and then add: eggplant, spinach, tomato sauce, mushrooms, and artichokes. (I'd love it if this were a regular menu item so I didn't have to ask for all those items!). All dishes seem to come with home-fried potatoes, something that I generally like, but these I'm not crazy about. You can substitute a salad, but you have to pay extra. They do, however, give you a full salad, so it's not totally out of line. I like the fuji salad with the slices of fuji apples and walnuts in it. If you have the crepe I described, plus the salad — boy, you've really consumed a lot of veggies for the day! It's a lot of food, period, so it's nice that take-home boxes are conveniently located by the counter. Once I tried the eggplant sandwich, with pesto on it (memory may be hazy here). It was greasy, but good. —CovertProfessor

2007-05-22 10:24:01   We went to Crepeville for the first time last weekend - we had an overall positive experience. Food was pretty good, not great. We had the chicken curry crepe and the strawberry nutella crepe - definitely liked the nutella crepe. I don't think any of the comments on the segregated work environment are valid, based on what we saw. —sads

2007-06-04 00:18:51   I went there for the first time in a long time on a Sunday evening and was really worried about eating there because I read all these negative comments from HERE. Turns out I had nothing to worry about! Clean place, nice decor and open environment, with outdoor and indoor seating, food turned out GREAT (gotta love the house potatoes!), with big, filling portions. I had the California crepe, which was very good. My friend had the Cannelloni which was also very good, but very rich (cream cheese, cottage cheese AND cheddar). Overall, a great dinner experience. Maybe I don't eat eat here enough to get my one bad experience, but this place seems to be very popular and well-liked. I would come back again. —noahsark

2007-07-16 13:41:46   Yummy crepes! Now I don't need to make them haha. Chicken curry crepe was good. Good portions but too bad they accept cash only 0_o Nice atmosphere too. —BrandonToo

2007-07-19 18:37:48   Not to bad ok prices and potato's are a good deal if broke seems to be a good place to meat a lover —dickjones

2007-07-22 18:29:00   Sadly, I like their sandwiches better than their crepes. Great potatoes. —AlexandraDeGrange

2007-08-03 14:38:02   good food it is what it is, i will be there again i like the prices and portions and employees seem nice enough —Brians

2007-08-03 20:54:05   What can you say, if you want a crepe, this is the place. (+) Very good breakfast (+) Desert crepes! (+) Potato skillets (-) Sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit —atwong

2007-08-28 23:08:04   I love the California Crepe, and with the potatoes it really fills you up. The coffee is a bit expensive... also, word to the wise, if you are waiting for someone and you haven't ordered yet, DONT use their wifi, i was waiting for my friend the other day and was sitting outside with a glass of water and my laptop and this waitress came by with a VERY PISSED OFF EXPRESSION. lol when I did order she...kind of tossed my plate at me. I understand why she might have been a bit upset, but...just dont do it lol. —ArianeMetz

2007-09-05 16:48:43   I love Crepeville because they have free wireless and bottomless iced teas. Their food is not bad, but perhaps a bit pricey.

My main gripe is that they turned their audio system on, playing the same song list over and over again. That's a little irritating (I feel sorry for the employees being subjected to it all day long). I think that it would be better if they had no music; usually better because you're probably going to irritate someone who doesn't like music you do. My 2 cents worth, anyway.

Otherwise, it's nice to have a place to go that has a lot of flexible seating—that's why LUGOD uses it. :-) —DougBarbieri

2007-09-18 23:00:10   Their food is so awesome..... I just love it so much.... Crepeville is one of my favorite restaurants in Davis. But, the waitress who work over there is not really friendly, almost never smile at all. Sexiest? I don't think it is "neccessary"—just give us smile so costumers will be very happy. FOOD=A+, SERVICE=C-. Thanks. —SoMeOnE

2007-10-12 10:33:52   Crepeville: They only do 3 things extremely well Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. I read the comments on racist - Yes, they serve all races there and in very polite fashion, and are predjudiced toward people with cash (USD). Some of the other comments regarding 'sexist' - well I think the term is more like 'sexy' - starting with the owners, and in their own way - even the cooks - and for sure everyone else that works there too. Crepeville is my #1 recommendation for my friends and visitors coming into the Sac / Davis area.

2007-10-25 20:20:37   This restaurant is awesome....... Arriba Crepeville!!! —Patricia

2007-10-30 15:25:14   Great food, fast service, free wireless... What else can you ask for? (Maybe self-serve refills!) —JustinBaker

2007-11-08 22:48:09   this place is probabley the only place that ive gone to more than twice in davis..and enjoyed myself every single time...anything you order from their menu is really delicious...and the manager is so nice he serves the dishes and worries constantly about the people in line and at the tables..nice guy! their crepes, sandwiches, dessert crepes...tea..drinks..etc. ALL ARE AWESOME...highly recoommmed this place everyone loves cant go wrong with the crepes..and the lovely potatoes they serve with it!!! this place really rocks! :) —MAIRA

2007-11-14 00:29:04   I go to Crepeville every week and had never gotten kicked out until last week. NO more than two minutes after finishing my french toast an employee who was an older blonde woman came over and "politely" asked me to leave, because they were busy and needed the table; too bad there was no line when I left and plenty of tables were open. Plus the people at the table next to me had been there since before I had come in and I was only there for a half hour. Before this happened I really enjoyed going to Crepeville, but after this I don't think I'll ever go back. —mlily

2007-11-19 18:59:13   Wow, I have been coming to crepeville for a year now and cant complain about the food, however the service sucks, but there is a new guy, working there, about 21, he is great, really friendly, cleaned my table, got me a re-fill, and had a genuine smile not fake...i hope he is there next time i go..... —doggydd

2007-11-28 12:54:01   I REALLY just loveee Crepeville. You know how Joey from Friends eats that gross cake Rachel makes with beef, peas, whipped-cream, and I don't know what, but he keeps saying "Beef GOOOOD. Peas GOOOD. Whipped cream GOOOOD". Well Crepeville doesn't make any gross stuff, but anything I eat there makes me want to say GOOOOOOD. This place rocks my socks off!!! All hail Crepeville! I'd highly recommend an Apple Cider on a cold day and any other dish at Crepeville, they are really all delicious. Mmmm :) —PShah

2007-12-28 09:23:49   i like the chocolate strawberry dessert crepe, the side of fruit, and the free newspapers by the front door. —JessicaRockwell
