The Davis Historical Fencing Club focuses on the use of the Dussack, the early saber predominant in East and Central Europe through the 16th and 17th centuries, and other historical systems of fencing. We are part of a larger, growing tradition in North America and Europe called HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). The fencing system we teach is based on the teachings of Joachim Meyer, a German fencing master. Students will learn swordsmanship as a martial art and grappling and will have the opportunity to participate in local tournaments.
